Office of Angels

Angels are a class of angels.

  1. Angels minister to God and are known as holy angels, but they are interested in the Christian service.

Ephesians 3:10: “To the intent that now unto the principalities and powers in heavenly places might be known by the church the manifold wisdom of God,”
1 Peter 1:12: “Unto whom it was revealed, that not unto themselves, but unto us they did minister the things, which are now reported unto you by them that have preached the gospel unto you with the Holy Ghost sent down from heaven; which things the angels desire to look into.”

  2. Angels do not have pairs of wings.

Joshua 5:13: “And it came to pass, when Joshua was by Jericho, that he lifted up his eyes and looked, and, behold, there stood a man over against him with his sword drawn in his hand: and Joshua went unto him, and said unto him, Art thou for us, or for our adversaries?”
Judges 6:21-22: “Then the angel of the LORD put forth the end of the staff that was in his hand, and touched the flesh and the unleavened cakes; and there rose up fire out of the rock, and consumed the flesh and the unleavened cakes. Then the angel of the LORD departed out of his sight. And when Gideon perceived that he was an angel of the LORD, Gideon said, Alas, O LORD GOD! for because I have seen an angel of the LORD face to face.”

Luke 24:4: “And it came to pass, as they were much perplexed thereabout, behold, two men stood by them in shining garments:”
Acts 1:10: “And while they looked stedfastly toward heaven as he went up, behold, two men stood by them in white apparel;”

Angels can come unexpectedly in the guise of men and take on human forms.

Hebrews 13:2: “Be not forgetful to entertain strangers: for thereby some have entertained angels unawares.”

  3. The angel Gabriel
Gabriel is related to the first and second coming of Christ. Contrary to popular belief, je is not “archangel Gabriel”, as stated in the following verses.

Daniel 8:16: “And I heard a man’s voice between the banks of Ulai, which called, and said, Gabriel, make this man to understand the vision.”
Daniel 9:21: “Yea, whiles I was speaking in prayer, even the man Gabriel, whom I had seen in the vision at the beginning, being caused to fly swiftly, touched me about the time of the evening oblation.”

Luke 1:19: “And the angel answering said unto him, I am Gabriel, that stand in the presence of God; and am sent to speak unto thee, and to shew thee these glad tidings.”
Luke 1:26: “And in the sixth month the angel Gabriel was sent from God unto a city of Galilee, named Nazareth,”

  4. Lucifer is not an angel, but he transformed himself into an angel of light. It was to mimic Jesus Christ, the light of the world.

2 Corinthians 11:14: “And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light.”
John 8:12: “Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.”

Seraphim

  1. Seraphims have a connection to spiritual fire.

Isaiah 6:2-7: “Above it stood the seraphims: each one had six wings; with twain he covered his face, and with twain he covered his feet, and with twain he did fly. And one cried unto another, and said, Holy, holy, holy, is the LORD of hosts: the whole earth is full of his glory. And the posts of the door moved at the voice of him that cried, and the house was filled with smoke. Then said I, Woe is me! for I am undone; because I am a man of unclean lips, and I dwell in the midst of a people of unclean lips: for mine eyes have seen the King, the LORD of hosts. Then flew one of the seraphims unto me, having a live coal in his hand, which he had taken with the tongs from off the altar: And he laid it upon my mouth, and said, Lo, this hath touched thy lips; and thine iniquity is taken away, and thy sin purged.”

    Seraphim means burning ones.
    This burning process cleanses iniquity.

  2. Purgatory
Catholics may use the passage below to prove purgatory, but they fail to see that people are purged by the blood, not fire, in this New Testament day and age.

Hebrews 9:14: “How much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without spot to God, purge your conscience from dead works to serve the living God?”

Charismatics use the passage below where the fire touches the tongue. Thus, there is such a thing as tongues of fire. Here it was referred to as ‘tongues like as of fire’.

Acts 2:3-4: “And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire, and it sat upon each of them. And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.”

  3. Seraphims praise the presence of God.

Isaiah 6:3: “And one cried unto another, and said, Holy, holy, holy, is the LORD of hosts: the whole earth is full of his glory.”

  4. Seraphims have six wings – two wings cover their face; two wings cover their feet

Isaiah 6:2-3: “Above it stood the seraphims: each one had six wings; with twain he covered his face, and with twain he covered his feet, and with twain he did fly. And one cried unto another, and said, Holy, holy, holy, is the LORD of hosts: the whole earth is full of his glory.”

Why is their face covered? They are singing ‘holy holy holy’ to the Lord. When God is holy, He says not to look at Him.
At the east, the king’s subjects would have their garments covered down to their feet out of respect in the presence of the ruler (covering the feet).
It is total holiness when men are in the presence of God, so the top of their heads to the bottom of their feet are to be surrendered to Him.

Office of Cherubim

  1. Cherubim are similar to seraphim.
They fly with six wings like the seraphim.

Ezekiel 1:5-13:Also out of the midst thereof came the likeness of four living creatures. And this was their appearance; they had the likeness of a man. And every one had four faces, and every one had four wings. And their feet were straight feet; and the sole of their feet was like the sole of a calf’s foot: and they sparkled like the colour of burnished brass. And they had the hands of a man under their wings on their four sides; and they four had their faces and their wings. Their wings were joined one to another; they turned not when they went; they went every one straight forward. As for the likeness of their faces, they four had the face of a man, and the face of a lion, on the right side: and they four had the face of an ox on the left side; they four also had the face of an eagle. Thus were their faces: and their wings were stretched upward; two wings of every one were joined one to another, and two covered their bodies. And they went every one straight forward: whither the spirit was to go, they went; and they turned not when they went. As for the likeness of the living creatures, their appearance was like burning coals of fire, and like the appearance of lamps: it went up and down among the living creatures; and the fire was bright, and out of the fire went forth lightning.”

Cherubim praise the Trinity like the seraphim.

Revelation 4:7-8: “And the first beast was like a lion, and the second beast like a calf, and the third beast had a face as a man, and the fourth beast was like a flying eagle. And the four beasts had each of them six wings about him; and they were full of eyes within: and they rest not day and night, saying, Holy, holy, holy, LORD God Almighty, which was, and is, and is to come.”

Cherubim are also connected with fire.

  2. They assume that Ezekiel 1 is not the same as Revelation 4.
    a. The possibility that John only saw one side of the four faces
Ezekiel may have seen only four of the six wings since two of them clicked onto the other wings (Ezekiel 1:9).

Ezekiel 1:10: “As for the likeness of their faces, they four had the face of a man, and the face of a lion, on the right side: and they four had the face of an ox on the left side; they four also had the face of an eagle.”

    b. What Ezekiel saw was on a different time plane
    c. The four beasts in Revelation 4:7 match with the four living creatures in Ezekiel 1:5.
‘four beasts’ + ‘four living creatures’
    (1) Identical faces
    (2) Their presence is filled with many eyes (v8, v18).

  3. God uses cherubim as surroundings.
    Surrounding the Garden of Eden

Genesis 3:24: “So he drove out the man; and he placed at the east of the garden of Eden Cherubims, and a flaming sword which turned every way, to keep the way of the tree of life.”

Surrounding the mercy seat of the tabernacle

Exodus 25:22: “And there I will meet with thee, and I will commune with thee from above the mercy seat, from between the two cherubims which are upon the ark of the testimony, of all things which I will give thee in commandment unto the children of Israel.”

The passage below shows a rapture with God ascending, riding on the wings of a cherub.

Psalm 18:10: “And he rode upon a cherub, and did fly: yea, he did fly upon the wings of the wind.”

Archangel

  1. Voice of the archangel – there is only one archangel
He plays a part in the rapture of the church.

1 Thessalonians 4:16: “For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:”

  2. Here, it further shows that there is only one archangel.

1 Thessalonians 4:16: “For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:”
Jude 1:9: “Yet Michael the archangel, when contending with the devil he disputed about the body of Moses, durst not bring against him a railing accusation, but said, The Lord rebuke thee.”

  3. Archangel Michael was described as a prince for the nation of Israel.

Daniel 12:1: “And at that time shall Michael stand up, the great prince which standeth for the children of thy people: and there shall be a time of trouble, such as never was since there was a nation even to that same time: and at that time thy people shall be delivered, every one that shall be found written in the book.”

  4. Archangel Michael is the only one in the Bible who fought against Satan.

Revelation 12:7-9: “And there was war in heaven: Michael and his angels fought against the dragon; and the dragon fought and his angels, And prevailed not; neither was their place found any more in heaven. And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him.”
Daniel 10:13: “But the prince of the kingdom of Persia withstood me one and twenty days: but, lo, Michael, one of the chief princes, came to help me; and I remained there with the kings of Persia.”

What is the difference between angels and archangels?

There are many angels, but only one archangel mentioned in the Bible, whose name is Michael.

Cherub

  1. Cherub is the singular form of cherubim. It is also Satan as the ox.

Ezekiel 10:7: “And one cherub stretched forth his hand from between the cherubims unto the fire that was between the cherubims, and took thereof, and put it into the hands of him that was clothed with linen: who took it, and went out.”

    River of Chebar

Ezekiel 1:1: “Now it came to pass in the thirtieth year, in the fourth month, in the fifth day of the month, as I was among the captives by the river of Chebar, that the heavens were opened, and I saw visions of God.”

    Face: man, lion, ox, eagle

Ezekiel 1:10: “As for the likeness of their faces, they four had the face of a man, and the face of a lion, on the right side: and they four had the face of an ox on the left side; they four also had the face of an eagle.”

It is the same living creatures by the river of Chebar, the cherubim.

Ezekiel 10:20: “This is the living creature that I saw under the God of Israel by the river of Chebar; and I knew that they were the cherubims.”

    Face: cherub, man, lion, eagle

Ezekiel 10:14: “And every one had four faces: the first face was the face of a cherub, and the second face was the face of a man, and the third the face of a lion, and the fourth the face of an eagle.”

    Cherub = Ox (Ezekiel 1:10)

    The anointed cherub is Satan.

Ezekiel 28:14: “Thou art the anointed cherub that covereth; and I have set thee so: thou wast upon the holy mountain of God; thou hast walked up and down in the midst of the stones of fire.”

  2. There are four cherubim in heaven.

Revelation 4:7: “And the first beast was like a lion, and the second beast like a calf, and the third beast had a face as a man, and the fourth beast was like a flying eagle.”

Remember that Satan is no longer a cherub in heaven. Why are there still four in Revelation 4:7? It means that there were five cherubim originally.
In Revelation 4:7, the four cherubim are eagle, lion, man, and calf. If Satan is not one of those cherubim, then who is he? He must be the missing ox.
Some may argue that calf and ox are the same things, but 1 Samuel 14:32 shows that the calf is separated from the ox.

  3. Cherubim match the six living classes of vertebrates.
These are mammals, fish, amphibians, reptiles, birds, and humans.
The four cherubim cover the classes of mammals, both domesticated and wild (calf and lion).
They cover the birds (eagle) and humans (man).
The missing classes are amphibians, reptiles, and fish. The reason is Satan because he covers one class which is cold-blooded creatures.
Serpent (reptile); Dragon (amphibian); Sea (fish)

Isaiah 27:1: “In that day the LORD with his sore and great and strong sword shall punish leviathan the piercing serpent, even leviathan that crooked serpent; and he shall slay the dragon that is in the sea.”

Dragon (amphibian) has horns, just like the ox has horns.

Revelation 12:3: “And there appeared another wonder in heaven; and behold a great red dragon, having seven heads and ten horns, and seven crowns upon his heads.”

    Serpent (reptiles)

Revelation 12:9: “And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him.”

  4. Anthropods
Beelzebub means lord of the flies.

Luke 11:15: “But some of them said, He casteth out devils through Beelzebub the chief of the devils.”

  5. Cherubim surround the Lord’s throne while God sits in the middle. They are known for their surroundings, and there is only one opening left, the top.

Psalm 99:1: “The LORD reigneth; let the people tremble: he sitteth between the cherubims; let the earth be moved.”
Revelation 4:6: “And before the throne there was a sea of glass like unto crystal: and in the midst of the throne, and round about the throne, were four beasts full of eyes before and behind.”

Satan is the covering at the top.

Ezekiel 28:14: “Thou art the anointed cherub that covereth; and I have set thee so: thou wast upon the holy mountain of God; thou hast walked up and down in the midst of the stones of fire.”
