**Solomon.** Some codices, with one early printed edition, read "the King Solomon".
**the LORD.** Hebrew. *Jehovah.* App-4 .
**things . . . dedicated** = holy things. See note on [Exodus 3:5](../../../kjv/exodus/3/5) .
**and.** Septuagint, Syriac, and Vulgate omit this "and",
**all.** Some codices, with Septuagint and Syriac, omit "all".
**among the treasures** = in the treasuries.
**God.** Hebrew. *Elohim.* (with Art.) = the [true] God. App-4 .

**Then Solomon.** Compare [1 Kings 8:1-11](../../../kjv/1-kings/8/1-11) .
**children** = sons.
**the ark.** See notes on [1 Chronicles 13:3](../../../kjv/1-chronicles/13/3) and [Exodus 25:22](../../../kjv/exodus/25/22) .

**the feast:** i.e. the Feast of Tabernacles ([Leviticus 23:33](../../../kjv/leviticus/23/33) , &c).

**the Levites toot up.** These were the *bearers,* but the priests (being Levites also) brought it into the house (as stated in [2 Chronicles 5:7](../../../kjv/2-chronicles/5/7) and [1 Kings 8:3](../../../kjv/1-kings/8/3) ). Hence, in [2 Chronicles 5:5](../../../kjv/2-chronicles/5/5) they are called "the priests and the Levites". See note on [Deuteronomy 17:9](../../../kjv/deuteronomy/17/9) .

**tabernacle** = tent. Hebrew. *'ohel.* App-40 .
**holy vessels** = sanctuary vessels. See note on [Exodus 3:5](../../../kjv/exodus/3/5) .
**the priests and the Levites.** See note on [Deuteronomy 17:9](../../../kjv/deuteronomy/17/9) .

**congregation** = convocation, or muster.

**the priests.** See note on [2 Chronicles 5:4](../../../kjv/2-chronicles/5/4) .
**the oracle.** See note on [2 Samuel 16:23](../../../kjv/2-samuel/16/23) .
**the most holy place** = the Holy of Holies.

**drew out.** Compare [1 Kings 8:8](../../../kjv/1-kings/8/8) .
**unto this day.** This is a copy of [1 Kings 8:6-8](../../../kjv/1-kings/8/6-8) , or an addendum by Ezra; because it is not applicable to "the day" of the writer, as may be seen from 2Ch 36:22 , [2 Chronicles 36:23](../../../kjv/2-chronicles/36/23) . But may this possibly have a mysterious reference to [Revelation 11:19](../../../kjv/revelation/11/19) ?

**nothing in the ark save.** See note on [1 Kings 8:9](../../../kjv/1-kings/8/9) .

**all.** On this occasion all served; not "by course". Note the parenthesis in verses: [2 Chronicles 5:11-12](../../../kjv/2-chronicles/5/11-12) .
**were sanctified** = had sanctified themselves.

**Jeduthun.** See note on [1 Chronicles 16:41](../../../kjv/1-chronicles/16/41) .
**at the east end:** i.e. facing west.

**For He is good, &c.** Compare [Ezra 3:11](../../../kjv/ezra/3/11) .
**mercy** = lovingkindness, or grace.
**cloud, even the house of.** Septuagint reads "cloud of the glory of".
