See note on [Judges 4:21](../../../kjv/judges/4/21) . **destroyed:** or thought she did. They were left for dead. **Jehosheba.** She was the wife of Jehoiada, the high priest ([2 Chronicles 22:11](../../../kjv/2-chronicles/22/11) ); Jehoiada being brother-in-law to Ahaziah ([2 Chronicles 22:11](../../../kjv/2-chronicles/22/11) ), and therefore uncle to Joash. **from among.** Expressive words, pointing to our Joash, raised from the dead and now hidden in the house of God on high; and we with Him ([Colossians 3:1-3](../../../kjv/colossians/3/1-3) ). **hid in the house of the LORD.** This was the safest possible place: for it had been broken up, and everything removed to the house of Baal ([2 Chronicles 24:7](../../../kjv/2-chronicles/24/7) ) The Temple courts were deserted. Hence, Jehoiada and the priests were plotting for the restoration of the rightful heir. See note on Libnah, [2 Kings 8:22](../../../kjv/2-kings/8/22) . **six years.** The number of man's defiance and disorder. See App-10 . **Jehoiada.** See note on Jehosheba, [2 Kings 11:2](../../../kjv/2-kings/11/2) . **rulers.** For their names see [2 Chronicles 23:1](../../../kjv/2-chronicles/23/1) . **the king's son.** Compare [2 Chronicles 23:3](../../../kjv/2-chronicles/23/3) . **that enter in** = must come inside. **shall even be** = and must be. **shall be** = must be. **king David's.** All prepared by him against such a day as this ([2 Samuel 8:7](../../../kjv/2-samuel/8/7) ). **gave him.** The Figure of speech *Zeugma* ( App-6 ), by which the second verb has to be thus supplied. **testimony.** See note on [Exodus 17:14](../../../kjv/exodus/17/14) , and App-47 . **a pillar** = the pillar. **Treason, Treason** . Figure of speech *Epizeuxis,* for great emphasis. **laid hands on her** = made way for her. **land rejoiced.** When? When the usurper had **city was in quiet.** been cast out, and slain. So shall it be when judgment shall be executed on the "prince" and "god" of this world ([Revelation 19:1](../../../kjv/revelation/19/1) , [Revelation 19:2](../../../kjv/revelation/19/2) , [Revelation 19:7](../../../kjv/revelation/19/7) ). **beside the king's house** = in the king's house. ```json {"@context":"https://schema.org","@graph":[{"@type":"WebSite","@id":"https://realbiblebelievers.com/#website","url":"https://realbiblebelievers.com","name":"Real Bible Believers","description":"RBB","publisher":{"@id":"https://realbiblebelievers.com/#/schema/person/e966585dde703268e7f6ae890ea98509"},"potentialAction":[{"@type":"SearchAction","target":"https://realbiblebelievers.com/search?q={search_term_string}","query-input":"required name=search_term_string"}],"inLanguage":"en-US"},{"@type":"ImageObject","@id":"https://realbiblebelievers.com/commentaries/bullingers-companion-bible-notes/2-kings/11#primaryimage","inLanguage":"en-US","url":"https://realbiblebelievers.com/images/missing.jpg","contentUrl":"https://realbiblebelievers.com/images/missing.jpg","width":640,"height":370,"caption":"Bullinger's Companion Bible Notes - 2 Kings 11"},{"@type":"WebPage","@id":"https://realbiblebelievers.com/commentaries/bullingers-companion-bible-notes/2-kings/11#webpage","url":"https://realbiblebelievers.com/commentaries/bullingers-companion-bible-notes/2-kings/11","name":"Bullinger's Companion Bible Notes - 2 Kings 11","isPartOf":{"@id":"https://realbiblebelievers.com/#website"},"primaryImageOfPage":{"@id":"https://realbiblebelievers.com/commentaries/bullingers-companion-bible-notes/2-kings/11#primaryimage"},"datePublished":null,"dateModified":null,"author":{"@id":"https://realbiblebelievers.com/#/schema/person/e966585dde703268e7f6ae890ea98509"},"description":"Athaliah.
