**minister** . See note on [Exodus 28:1](../../../kjv/exodus/28/1)
**without blemish** . This, with bread "without leaven" ([Exodus 29:2](../../../kjv/exodus/29/2) ), shows the inner meaning of "leaven".

**cakes** = pierced cakes.

**tabernacle** = tent. Hebrew. *'ohel.* App-40 .
**wash** . Hebrew. *rachaz =* one *of* the ceremonial washings referred to in [Hebrews 6:2](../../../kjv/hebrews/6/2) , and rendered "baptisms".

**ephod.** See note on [Exodus 28:6](../../../kjv/exodus/28/6) .
**curious** = embroidered.

**consecrate** . See note on [Exodus 28:41](../../../kjv/exodus/28/41) .

**caul** = the *omentum,* not the midriff.

**without the camp** . Compare [Hebrews 13:11-13](../../../kjv/hebrews/13/11-13) . An unholy camp was unfit for a holy sin offering.
**sin offering** . Hebrew sin, put (as in [Genesis 4:7](../../../kjv/genesis/4/7) ) by Figure of speech *Metonymy* (of Subject), App-6 , for sin offering. See App-43 .

**sweet savour** . Hebrew "savour of rest", i.e. coinplacency or satisfaction. See note on [Genesis 8:2](../../../kjv/genesis/8/2) .

**and** . Note the Figure of speech *Polysyndeton* ( App-6 ), calling our attention to the several parts touched by the atoning blood. All were consecrated, and each one is singled out and emphasised by the several "and".
**Aaron** . The Antitype, Christ, so anointed and set apart "on the holy mount" ([2 Peter 1:16-18](../../../kjv/2-peter/1/16-18) ). See notes on [Exodus 28:1](../../../kjv/exodus/28/1) , [Exodus 28:2](../../../kjv/exodus/28/2) . Compare [Psalms 45:7](../../../kjv/psalms/45/7) . [Hebrews 1:9](../../../kjv/hebrews/1/9) . Note "thy fellows", but "above" them, infinitely "above".

**wave offering.** Turned to the four quarters *of* the earth. See App-43 .
**heave offering** . Lifted up to heaven for Jehovah only. See App-43 .

**children** = sons.

**holy** . See note on [Exodus 3:5](../../../kjv/exodus/3/5) .

**eat** , &c. This explains [John 6:33](../../../kjv/john/6/33) . In [Exodus 29](../../../kjv/exodus/29) this was literal, but in our case it must perforce be purely and wholly spiritual. Compare the eating of [Exodus 29:33](../../../kjv/exodus/29/33) and the burning of [Exodus 29:34](../../../kjv/exodus/29/34) with the eating and burning of the Paschal Lamb, [Exodus 12:10](../../../kjv/exodus/12/10) , [Exodus 12:11](../../../kjv/exodus/12/11) .

**atonement** . The first occurrence *of* the English word. The Hebrew kaphar, to cover, gives the essential meaning, as shown in its first occurrence, [Genesis 6:14](../../../kjv/genesis/6/14) , where it is rendered "pitch [it]". See notes on [Genesis 32:20](../../../kjv/genesis/32/20) . [Psalms 32:1](../../../kjv/psalms/32/1) . Hence used of the mercy-seat. See, note on [Exodus 25:17](../../../kjv/exodus/25/17) . The English "at-one-ment" has no connection whatever with the Hebrew word *kaphar.*
**consecrate.** See on [Exodus 28:41](../../../kjv/exodus/28/41) .

**offer** . Hebrew ' *asah.* See App-43 .
**for it** = upon it.

**holy** . See note on [Exodus 3:5](../../../kjv/exodus/3/5) .

**day by day continually** . See the Divine comment on this. [Hebrews 9:9](../../../kjv/hebrews/9/9) ; [Hebrews 10:1](../../../kjv/hebrews/10/1) , [Hebrews 10:2](../../../kjv/hebrews/10/2) .

**the other** = the second.
**at even** = Hebrew between the two evenings = at dusk. [Exodus 12:6](../../../kjv/exodus/12/6) ; [Exodus 16:12](../../../kjv/exodus/16/12) ; [Exodus 30:8](../../../kjv/exodus/30/8) .

**hin** . See App-51 .
**wine** . Hebrew. *yayin* (see App-27 ).

**meat** = meal.
**the LORD** = *Jehovah* . App-4 .

**meet** = meet by appointment. See note on [Exodus 25:22](../../../kjv/exodus/25/22) . you. Some codices, with Samaritan Pentateuch and Septuagint, read "thee".

**the tabernacle** . Supply Ellipsis with "it" ( App-6 ).

**God** . Hebrew. *Elohim* . App-4 .

**that I may dwell** . This was the object in bringing them forth from Egypt.
**among** = in the midst.
