**kindly.** Hebrew on her heart (as though making an impression on it).

**Israel.** The first Occurance in a collective sense.

**soul.** Hebrew. *nephesh* . App-13 . Figure of speech. *Synecdoche* (of Part) and Pleonasm, ( App-6 ), to emphasise the intensity of the longing.

**gift.** The noun put by *Metonymy* for the verb = ask me to give, &c.

**deceitfully.** Jacob *'* s character his own scourge. The first and only occurance in Genesis.

**behold.** Figure of speech. *Asterismos* . App-6 .

**Shall not, &c.** Figure of speech *Erotesis.* App-6 .

**man.** Heb. *'ish* . See App-14 .

**edge.** Hebrew mouth. Figure of speech *Pleonasm* . The acts of Jacob and his sons at Shechem may be contrasted with those of Abraham ([Genesis 12:6](../../../kjv/genesis/12/6) ), and of Joshua ([Joshua 24:1-27](../../../kjv/joshua/24/1-27) ), and of Christ ([John 4:5](../../../kjv/john/4/5) ).

**and.** Note the Figure of speech. *Polysyndeton* , App-6 . to emphasise each item, in [Genesis 34:28-29](../../../kjv/genesis/34/28-29) .

**wealth.** Hebrew strength. Figure of speech *Metonymy* (of Adjunct). Strength put for the wealth which it acquires.
