**2 CHRONICLES CHAPTER 9**
The queen of Sheba visiteth Solomon, and admireth his wisdom; giveth and receiveth presents, [2 Chronicles 9:1-12](../../../kjv/2-chronicles/9/1-12).
Solomon’s gold; his targets, and shields, [2 Chronicles 9:13-16](../../../kjv/2-chronicles/9/13-16).
The throne of ivory, [2 Chronicles 9:17-19](../../../kjv/2-chronicles/9/17-19).
His vessels; his presents, [2 Chronicles 9:20-21](../../../kjv/2-chronicles/9/20-21).
His chariots and horses; his tributes; his reign and death, [2 Chronicles 9:25-31](../../../kjv/2-chronicles/9/25-31).

Almost all this chapter is contained in [1 Kings 10](../../../kjv/1-kings/10), where it is explained.

**King for the Lord,**i.e. in the Lord’s name and stead, both in general, because all kings have and hold their kingdoms from God, and act as his viceregents and deputies; and in a special manner, because he sat in God’s own throne and ruled over God’s peculiar people, and did in a singular and eminent manner maintain the honour and worship of God in his land, and in the eyes of all the world besides.

**Besides that which she had brought;**besides what he gave her of his royal bounty, as it is expressed, [1 Kings 10:13](../../../kjv/1-kings/10/13), which was in compensation for her presents, as is here noted.

**Four thousand stalls,**to wit, greater stalls, in each of which were ten stalls, in all forty thousand stalls, as it is in [1 Kings 4:26](../../../kjv/1-kings/4/26), See Poole "[1 Kings 4:26](../../../kjv/1-kings/4/26)".

**Iddo the seer,**mentioned also [1 Chronicles 12:15](../../../kjv/1-chronicles/12/15), supposed to be the same who is called *Obed*, [2 Chronicles 15:1](../../../kjv/2-chronicles/15/1). This, and the other prophets mentioned, were also historians, and wrote some annals or histories of their times; out of which these sacred and canonical books were taken, either by these or other prophets.
