וַיֹּ֨אמֶר H559 And David דָוִ֜יד H1732 I will shew עָשָׂ֨ה H6213 kindness חֶ֔סֶד H2617 עִם H5973 to Hanun חָנ֖וּן H2586 of the children בְּנֵֽי H1121 of Nahash נָחָ֗שׁ H5176 כִּֽי H3588 I will shew כִּ֥י H3588 that they had made themselves odious הִֽתְבָּאֲשׁ֖וּ H887 עִם H5973 to David דָּוִ֑יד H1732 sent וַיִּשְׁלַ֣ח H7971 Hanun חָ֠נוּן H2586 And when the children וּבְנֵ֨י H1121 of Ammon עַמּ֜וֹן H5983 a thousand אֶ֣לֶף H505 talents כִּכַּר H3603 of silver כֶּ֗סֶף H3701 to hire לִשְׂכֹּ֣ר H7936 לָ֠הֶם H0 מִן H4480 אֲרַ֨ם H0 out of Mesopotamia נַֽהֲרַ֜יִם H763 וּמִן H4480 and out of Syriamaachah אֲרַ֤ם H758 מַֽעֲכָה֙ H4601 and out of Zobah וּמִצּוֹבָ֔ה H6678 them chariots רֶ֖כֶב H7393 and horsemen וּפָֽרָשִֽׁים׃ H6571 7 So they hired וַיִּשְׂכְּר֣וּ H7936 לָהֶ֡ם H0 and two שְׁנַיִם֩ H8147 thirty וּשְׁלֹשִׁ֨ים H7970 thousand אֶ֜לֶף H505 chariots רֶ֗כֶב H7393 וְאֶת H853 and the king מֶ֤לֶךְ H4428 of Maachah מַֽעֲכָה֙ H4601 וְאֶת H853 and his people עַמּ֔וֹ H5971 and came וַיָּבֹ֖אוּ H935 and pitched וַֽיַּחֲנ֖וּ H2583 before לִפְנֵ֣י H6440 Medeba מֵידְבָ֑א H4311 And the children וּבְנֵ֣י H1121 of Ammon עַמּ֗וֹן H5983 gathered themselves together נֶֽאֶסְפוּ֙ H622 from their cities מֵעָ֣רֵיהֶ֔ם H5892 and came וַיָּבֹ֖אוּ H935 to battle לַמִּלְחָמָֽה׃ H4421 8 heard וַיִּשְׁמַ֖ע H8085 And when David דָּוִ֑יד H1732 of it he sent וַיִּשְׁלַח֙ H7971 אֶת H853 Joab יוֹאָ֔ב H3097 וְאֵ֥ת H853 כָּל H3605 and all the host צָבָ֖א H6635 of the mighty men הַגִּבּוֹרִֽים׃ H1368 9 came out וַיֵּֽצְאוּ֙ H3318 And the children בְּנֵ֣י H1121 of Ammon עַמּ֔וֹן H5983 in array וַיַּֽעַרְכ֥וּ H6186 and put the battle מִלְחָמָ֖ה H4421 before the gate פֶּ֣תַח H6607 of the city הָעִ֑יר H5892 and the kings וְהַמְּלָכִ֣ים H4428 אֲשֶׁר H834 that were come בָּ֔אוּ H935 לְבַדָּ֖ם H905 were by themselves in the field בַּשָּׂדֶֽה׃ H7704 10 saw וַיַּ֣רְא H7200 Now when Joab יוֹאָ֗ב H3097 כִּֽי H3588 הָיְתָ֧ה H1961 was set against him before פָּנִ֣ים H6440 that the battle הַמִּלְחָמָ֛ה H4421 אֵלָ֖יו H413 was set against him before פָּנִ֣ים H6440 and behind וְאָח֑וֹר H268 he chose out בָּחוּר֙ H977 מִכָּל H3605 he chose out בָּחוּר֙ H977 of Israel בְּיִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל H3478 and put them in array וַֽיַּעֲרֹ֖ךְ H6186 against לִקְרַ֥את H7125 the Syrians אֲרָֽם׃ H758 11 וְאֵת֙ H853 And the rest יֶ֣תֶר H3499 of the people הָעָ֔ם H5971 he delivered נָתַ֕ן H5414 unto the hand בְּיַ֖ד H3027 of Abishai אַבְשַׁ֣י H52 his brother אָחִ֑יו H251 and they set themselves in array וַיַּ֣עַרְכ֔וּ H6186 against לִקְרַ֖את H7125 the children בְּנֵ֥י H1121 of Ammon עַמּֽוֹן׃ H5983 12 And he said וַיֹּ֗אמֶר H559 אִם H518 be too strong יֶֽחֶזְק֥וּ H2388 מִמֶּ֙נִּי֙ H4480 If the Syrians אֲרָ֔ם H758 וְהָיִ֥יתָ H1961 לִּ֖י H0 for me then thou shalt help לִתְשׁוּעָ֑ה H8668 וְאִם H518 me but if the children בְּנֵ֥י H1121 of Ammon עַמּ֛וֹן H5983 be too strong יֶֽחֶזְק֥וּ H2388 מִמְּךָ֖ H4480 for thee then I will help וְהֽוֹשַׁעְתִּֽיךָ׃ H3467 13 Be of good courage וְנִֽתְחַזְּקָה֙ H2388 Be Ammon עַמּ֤וֹן H5983 saw רָאוּ֙ H7200 כִּי H3588 they likewise fled וַיָּנ֣וּסוּ H5127 that the Syrians אֲרָ֔ם H758 they likewise fled וַיָּנ֣וּסוּ H5127 גַם H1571 הֵ֗ם H1992 before מִפְּנֵי֙ H6440 Abishai אַבְשַׁ֣י H52 his brother אָחִ֔יו H251 and entered וַיָּבֹ֥א H935 into the city הָעִ֑ירָה H5892 and entered וַיָּבֹ֥א H935 Then Joab יוֹאָ֖ב H3097 to Jerusalem יְרֽוּשָׁלִָֽם׃ H3389 16 saw וַיַּ֣רְא H7200 And when the Syrians אֲרָ֔ם H758 כִּ֣י H3588 that they were put to the worse נִגְּפוּ֮ H5062 before לִפְנֵיהֶֽם׃ H6440 Israel יִשְׂרָאֵל֒ H3478 they sent וַֽיִּשְׁלְחוּ֙ H7971 messengers מַלְאָכִ֔ים H4397 and drew forth וַיּוֹצִ֣יאוּ H3318 אֶת H853 And when the Syrians אֲרָ֔ם H758 אֲשֶׁ֖ר H834 that were beyond מֵעֵ֣בֶר H5676 the river הַנָּהָ֑ר H5104 and Shophach וְשׁוֹפַ֛ךְ H7780 the captain שַׂר H8269 of the host צְבָ֥א H6635 of Hadarezer הֲדַדְעֶ֖זֶר H1928 before לִפְנֵיהֶֽם׃ H6440 17 And it was told וַיֻּגַּ֣ד H5046 David דָּוִ֜יד H1732 and he gathered וַיֶּֽאֱסֹ֤ף H622 אֶת H853 כָּל H3605 all Israel יִשְׂרָאֵל֙ H3478 and passed over וַיַּֽעֲבֹ֣ר H5674 Jordan הַיַּרְדֵּ֔ן H3383 and came וַיָּבֹ֣א H935 אֲלֵהֶ֔ם H413 in array וַיַּֽעֲרֹ֨ךְ H6186 אֲלֵהֶ֑ם H413 in array וַיַּֽעֲרֹ֨ךְ H6186 David דָּוִ֜יד H1732 against לִקְרַ֤את H7125 the Syrians אֲרָם֙ H758 had put the battle מִלְחָמָ֔ה H4421 they fought וַיִּֽלָּחֲמ֖וּ H3898 עִמּֽוֹ׃ H5973 18 fled וַיָּ֣נָס H5127 But the Syrians מֵֽאֲרָ֗ם H758 before מִלִּפְנֵ֣י H6440 Israel יִשְׂרָאֵל֒ H3478 slew וַיַּֽהֲרֹ֨ג H2026 and David דָּוִ֜יד H1732 But the Syrians מֵֽאֲרָ֗ם H758 seven שִׁבְעַ֤ת H7651 thousand אֶ֖לֶף H505 men which fought in chariots רֶ֔כֶב H7393 and forty וְאַרְבָּעִ֥ים H705 thousand אֶ֖לֶף H505 footmen אִ֣ישׁ H376 רַגְלִ֑י H7273 וְאֵ֛ת H853 Shophach שׁוֹפַ֥ךְ H7780 the captain שַֽׂר H8269 of the host הַצָּבָ֖א H6635 and killed הֵמִֽית׃ H4191 19 saw וַיִּרְא֞וּ H7200 And when the servants עַבְדֵ֣י H5650 of Hadarezer הֲדַדְעֶ֗זֶר H1928 כִּ֤י H3588 that they were put to the worse נִגְּפוּ֙ H5062 before לִפְנֵ֣י H6440 Israel יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל H3478 they made peace וַיַּשְׁלִ֥ימוּ H7999 עִם H5973 with David דָּוִ֖יד H1732 and became his servants וַיַּֽעַבְדֻ֑הוּ H5647
