covenant בְּרִיתִ֣י H1285 and my statutes וְחֻקֹּתַ֔י H2708 אֲשֶׁ֥ר H834 which I have commanded צִוִּ֖יתִי H6680 עָלֶ֑יךָ H5921 rend אֶקְרַ֤ע H7167 rend אֶקְרַ֤ע H7167 אֶת H853 the kingdom he was of the king's הַמֶּ֛לֶךְ H4428 ה֖וּא H1931 in Edom בֶּֽאֱדֽוֹם׃ H123 15 וַיְהִ֗י H1961 בִּֽהְי֤וֹת H1961 For it came to pass when David דָּוִד֙ H1732 אֶת H854 in Edom בֶּֽאֱדֽוֹם׃ H123 was gone up בַּֽעֲל֗וֹת H5927 and Joab יוֹאָב֙ H3097 the captain שַׂ֣ר H8269 of the host הַצָּבָ֔א H6635 to bury לְקַבֵּ֖ר H6912 אֶת H853 the slain הַֽחֲלָלִ֑ים H2491 after he had smitten וַיַּ֥ךְ H5221 כָּל שָׁמַ֣ע H8085 in Egypt בְּמִצְרַ֗יִם H4714 כִּֽי H3588 slept שָׁכַ֤ב H7901 that David דָּוִד֙ H1732 עִם H5973 with his fathers אֲבֹתָ֔יו H1 וְכִי H3588 was dead מֵ֖ת H4191 and that Joab יוֹאָ֣ב H3097 the captain שַׂר H8269 of the host הַצָּבָ֑א H6635 said וַיֹּ֤אמֶר H559 And when Hadad הֲדַד֙ H1908 אֶל H413 to Pharaoh פַּרְעֹ֔ה H6547 Let me depart שַׁלְּחֵ֖נִי H7971 וְאֵלֵ֥ךְ H1980 אֶל H413 to mine own country אַרְצִֽי׃ H776 22 And he answered וַיֹּ֣אמֶר׀ H559 ל֣וֹ H0 Then Pharaoh פַרְעֹ֗ה H6547 כִּ֠י H3588 מָה H4100 אַתָּ֤ה H859 unto him But what hast thou lacked חָסֵר֙ H2638 עִמִּ֔י H5973 וְהִנְּךָ֥ H2005 with me that behold thou seekest מְבַקֵּ֖שׁ H1245 לָלֶ֣כֶת H1980 אֶל H413 to thine own country אַרְצֶ֑ךָ H776 And he answered וַיֹּ֣אמֶר׀ H559 לֹ֔א H3808 כִּ֥י H3588 Nothing howbeit רְז֖וֹן H7331 the son בֶּן H1121 of Eliadah אֶלְיָדָ֑ע H450 אֲשֶׁ֣ר H834 which fled בָּרַ֗ח H1272 מֵאֵ֛ת H853 Hadadezer הֲדַדְעֶ֥זֶר H1909 king מֶֽלֶךְ H4428 of Zobah צוֹבָ֖ה H6678 from his lord אֲדֹנָֽיו׃ H113 24 And he gathered וַיִּקְבֹּ֤ץ H6908 עָלָיו֙ H5921 אֲנָשִׁ֔ים H376 וַיְהִ֣י H1961 unto him and became captain שַׂר H8269 over a band גְּד֔וּד H1416 slew בַּֽהֲרֹ֥ג H2026 when David דָּוִ֖ד H1732 אֹתָ֑ם H853 וַיֵּֽלְכ֤וּ H1980 in Damascus בְּדַמָּֽשֶׂק׃ H1834 and dwelt וַיֵּ֣שְׁבוּ H3427 בָ֔הּ H0 therein and reigned וַֽיִּמְלְכ֖וּ H4427 in Damascus בְּדַמָּֽשֶׂק׃ H1834 25 וַיְהִ֨י H1961 And he was an adversary שָׂטָ֤ן H7854 Israel בְּיִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל H3478 כָּל H3605 all the days יְמֵ֣י H3117 of Solomon שְׁלֹמֹ֔ה H8010 וְאֶת H854 beside the mischief הָֽרָעָ֖ה H7451 אֲשֶׁ֣ר H834 that Hadad הֲדָ֑ד H1908 did and he abhorred וַיָּ֙קָץ֙ H6973 Israel בְּיִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל H3478 and reigned וַיִּמְלֹ֖ךְ H4427 עַל H5921 over Syria אֲרָֽם׃ H758 26 And Jeroboam וְיָֽרָבְעָם֩ H3379 the son בֶּן H1121 of Nebat נְבָ֨ט H5028 an Ephrathite אֶפְרָתִ֜י H673 מִן H4480 of Zereda הַצְּרֵדָ֗ה H6868 ~ וְשֵׁ֤ם H8034 whose mother's אִמּוֹ֙ H517 was Zeruah צְרוּעָה֙ H6871 woman אִשָּׁ֣ה H802 a widow אַלְמָנָ֔ה H490 servant עֶ֖בֶד H5650 Solomon's לִשְׁלֹמֹ֑ה H8010 even he lifted up וַיָּ֥רֶם H7311 his hand יָ֖ד H3027 against the king בַּמֶּֽלֶךְ׃ H4428 27 וְזֶ֣ה H2088 And this was the cause הַדָּבָ֔ר H1697 אֲשֶׁר H834 that he lifted up הֵרִ֥ים H7311 his hand יָ֖ד H3027 against the king בַּמֶּ֑לֶךְ H4428 Solomon שְׁלֹמֹה֙ H8010 built בָּנָ֣ה H1129 אֶת H853 Millo הַמִּלּ֔וֹא H4407 and repaired סָגַ֕ר H5462 אֶת H853 the breaches פֶּ֕רֶץ H6556 of the city עִ֖יר H5892 of David דָּוִ֥ד H1732 his father אָבִֽיו׃ H1 28 And the man וְהָאִ֥ישׁ H376 Jeroboam יָֽרָבְעָ֖ם H3379 was a mighty man גִּבּ֣וֹר H1368 of valour חָ֑יִל H2428 seeing וַיַּ֨רְא H7200 and Solomon שְׁלֹמֹ֜ה H8010 אֶת H853 the young man הַנַּ֗עַר H5288 כִּֽי H3588 that he was industrious עֹשֵׂ֤ה H6213 מְלָאכָה֙ H4399 ה֔וּא H1931 he made him ruler וַיַּפְקֵ֣ד H6485 אֹת֔וֹ H853 לְכָל H3605 over all the charge סֵ֖בֶל H5447 of the house בֵּ֥ית H1004 of Joseph יוֹסֵֽף׃ H3130 29 וַֽיְהִי֙ H1961 And it came to pass at that time בָּעֵ֣ת H6256 הַהִ֔יא H1931 when Jeroboam וְיָֽרָבְעָ֖ם H3379 went out יָצָ֣א H3318 of Jerusalem מִירֽוּשָׁלִָ֑ם H3389 found וַיִּמְצָ֣א H4672 אֹת֡וֹ H853 Ahijah אֲחִיָּה֩ H281 the Shilonite הַשִּֽׁילֹנִ֨י H7888 that the prophet הַנָּבִ֜יא H5030 him in the way בַּדֶּ֗רֶךְ H1870 וְה֤וּא H1931 and he had clad מִתְכַּסֶּה֙ H3680 garment בְּשַׂלְמָ֣ה H8008 himself with a new חֲדָשָׁ֔ה H2319 and they two וּשְׁנֵיהֶ֥ם H8147 לְבַדָּ֖ם H905 were alone in the field בַּשָּׂדֶֽה׃ H7704 30 caught וַיִּתְפֹּ֣שׂ H8610 And Ahijah אֲחִיָּ֔ה H281 garment בַּשַּׂלְמָ֥ה H8008 the new הַֽחֲדָשָׁ֖ה H2319 אֲשֶׁ֣ר H834 עָלָ֑יו H5921 that was on him and rent וַיִּ֨קְרָעֶ֔הָ H7167 it in twelve שְׁנֵ֥ים H8147 עָשָׂ֖ר H6240 pieces קְרָעִֽים׃ H7168 31 And he said אָמַ֨ר H559 to Jeroboam לְיָֽרָבְעָ֔ם H3379 Take קַח H3947 לְךָ֖ H0 ten עֲשָׂרָ֥ה H6235 pieces קְרָעִ֑ים H7168 כִּ֣י H3588 כֹה֩ H3541 And he said אָמַ֨ר H559 the LORD יְהוָ֜ה H3068 the God אֱלֹהֵ֣י H430 of Israel יִשְׂרָאֵ֗ל H3478 הִנְנִ֨י H2005 Behold I will rend קֹרֵ֤עַ H7167 אֶת H853 the kingdom הַמַּמְלָכָה֙ H4467 out of the hand מִיַּ֣ד H3027 of Solomon שְׁלֹמֹ֔ה H8010 and will give וְנָֽתַתִּ֣י H5414 לְךָ֔ H0 אֵ֖ת H853 ten עֲשָׂרָ֥ה H6235 tribes הַשְּׁבָטִֽים׃ H7626 32 out of all the tribes שִׁבְטֵ֥י H7626 But he shall have one הָֽאֶחָ֖ד H259 יִֽהְיֶה H1961 לּ֑וֹ H0 לְמַ֣עַן׀ H4616 for my servant עַבְדִּ֣י H5650 David's דָוִ֗ד H1732 וּלְמַ֙עַן֙ H4616 sake and for Jerusalem's יְר֣וּשָׁלִַ֔ם H3389 sake the city הָעִיר֙ H5892 אֲשֶׁ֣ר H834 which I have chosen בָּחַ֣רְתִּי H977 בָ֔הּ H0 מִכֹּ֖ל H3605 out of all the tribes שִׁבְטֵ֥י H7626 of Israel יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃ H3478 33 יַ֣עַן׀ H3282 אֲשֶׁ֣ר H834 Because that they have forsaken עֲזָב֗וּנִי H5800 me and have worshipped וַיִּֽשְׁתַּחֲווּ֮ H7812 Ashtoreth לְעַשְׁתֹּרֶת֮
