And she vowed וַתִּדֹּ֨ר H5087 a vow נֶ֜דֶר H5088 and said וַתֹּאמַ֗ר H559 O LORD לַֽיהוָה֙ H3068 of hosts צְבָא֜וֹת H6635 אִם H518 if thou wilt indeed תִרְאֶ֣ה׀ H7200 if thou wilt indeed תִרְאֶ֣ה׀ H7200 on the affliction בָּֽעֳנִ֣י H6040 of thine handmaid לַאֲמָֽתְךָ֖ H519 and remember וּזְכַרְתַּ֙נִי֙ H2142 וְלֹֽא H3808 me and not forget תִשְׁכַּ֣ח H7911 אֶת H853 of thine handmaid לַאֲמָֽתְךָ֖ she continued הִרְבְּתָ֔ה H7235 praying לְהִתְפַּלֵּ֖ל H6419 before לִפְנֵ֣י H6440 the LORD יְהוָ֑ה H3068 that Eli וְעֵלִ֖י H5941 marked שֹׁמֵ֥ר H8104 אֶת H853 her mouth פִּֽיהָ׃ H6310 13 Now Hannah וְחַנָּ֗ה H2584 הִ֚יא H1931 she spake מְדַבֶּ֣רֶת H1696 עַל H5921 in her heart לִבָּ֔הּ H3820 רַ֚ק H7535 only her lips שְׂפָתֶ֣יהָ H8193 moved נָּע֔וֹת H5128 but her voice וְקוֹלָ֖הּ H6963 לֹ֣א H3808 was not heard יִשָּׁמֵ֑עַ H8085 thought וַיַּחְשְׁבֶ֥הָ H2803 therefore Eli עֵלִ֖י H5941 she had been drunken לְשִׁכֹּרָֽה׃ H7910 14 said וַיֹּ֤אמֶר H559 אֵלֶ֙יהָ֙ H413 And Eli עֵלִ֔י H5941 עַד H5704 מָתַ֖י H4970 unto her How long wilt thou be drunken תִּשְׁתַּכָּרִ֑ין H7937 put away הָסִ֥ירִי H5493 אֶת H853 thy wine יֵינֵ֖ךְ H3196 מֵֽעָלָֽיִךְ׃ H5921 15 answered וַתַּ֨עַן H6030 And Hannah חַנָּ֤ה H2584 and said וַתֹּ֙אמֶר֙ H559 לֹ֣א H3808 No my lord אֲדֹנִ֔י H113 I am a woman אִשָּׁ֤ה H802 of a sorrowful קְשַׁת H7186 spirit ר֙וּחַ֙ H7307 אָנֹ֔כִי H595 neither wine וְיַ֥יִן H3196 nor strong drink וְשֵׁכָ֖ר H7941 לֹ֣א H3808 I have drunk שָׁתִ֑יתִי H8354 but have poured out וָֽאֶשְׁפֹּ֥ךְ H8210 אֶת H853 my soul נַפְשִׁ֖י H5315 before לִפְנֵ֥י H6440 the LORD יְהוָֽה׃ H3068 16 אַל H408 Count תִּתֵּן֙ H5414 אֶת H853 not thine handmaid אֲמָ֣תְךָ֔ H519 for לִפְנֵ֖י H6440 a daughter בַּת H1323 of Belial בְּלִיָּ֑עַל H1100 כִּֽי H3588 for out of the abundance מֵרֹ֥ב H7230 of my complaint שִׂיחִ֛י H7879 and grief וְכַעְסִ֖י H3708 have I spoken דִּבַּ֥רְתִּי H1696 עַד H5704 הֵֽנָּה׃ H2008 17 answered וַיַּ֧עַן H6030 Then Eli עֵלִ֛י H5941 and said וַיֹּ֖אמֶר H559 לְכִ֣י H1980 in peace לְשָׁל֑וֹם H7965 and the God וֵֽאלֹהֵ֣י H430 of Israel יִשְׂרָאֵ֗ל H3478 grant יִתֵּן֙ H5414 אֶת H853 thee thy petition שֵׁ֣לָתֵ֔ךְ H7596 אֲשֶׁ֥ר H834 that thou hast asked שָׁאַ֖לְתְּ H7592 מֵֽעִמּֽוֹ׃ H5973 18 And she said וַתֹּ֕אמֶר H559 find תִּמְצָ֧א H4672 Let thine handmaid שִׁפְחָֽתְךָ֛ H8198 grace חֵ֖ן H2580 in thy sight בְּעֵינֶ֑יךָ H5869 וַתֵּ֨לֶךְ H1980 So the woman הָֽאִשָּׁ֤ה H802 her way לְדַרְכָּהּ֙ H1870 and did eat וַתֹּאכַ֔ל H398 and her countenance וּפָנֶ֥יהָ H6440 לֹא H3808 הָֽיוּ H1961 לָ֖הּ H0 עֽוֹד׃ H5750 19 And they rose up וַיַּשְׁכִּ֣מוּ H7925 in the morning בַבֹּ֗קֶר H1242 and worshipped וַיִּֽשְׁתַּחֲווּ֙ H7812 before לִפְנֵ֣י H6440 and the LORD יְהוָֽה׃ H3068 and returned וַיָּשֻׁ֛בוּ H7725 and came וַיָּבֹ֥אוּ H935 אֶל H413 to their house בֵּיתָ֖ם H1004 to Ramah הָֽרָמָ֑תָה H7414 knew וַיֵּ֤דַע H3045 and Elkanah אֶלְקָנָה֙ H511 אֶת H853 Hannah חַנָּ֣ה H2584 his wife אִשְׁתּ֔וֹ H802 remembered וַֽיִּזְכְּרֶ֖הָ H2142 and the LORD יְהוָֽה׃ H3068 20 וַֽיְהִי֙ H1961 was come לִתְקֻפ֣וֹת H8622 Wherefore it came to pass when the time הַיָּמִ֔ים H3117 had conceived וַתַּ֥הַר H2029 about after Hannah חַנָּ֖ה H2584 that she bare וַתֵּ֣לֶד H3205 a son בֵּ֑ן H1121 and called וַתִּקְרָ֤א H7121 אֶת H853 his name שְׁמוֹ֙ H8034 Samuel שְׁמוּאֵ֔ל H8050 כִּ֥י H3588 him of the LORD מֵֽיְהוָ֖ה H3068 saying Because I have asked שְׁאִלְתִּֽיו׃ H7592 21 went up וַיַּ֛עַל H5927 And the man הָאִ֥ישׁ H376 Elkanah אֶלְקָנָ֖ה H511 וְכָל H3605 and all his house בֵּית֑וֹ H1004 to offer לִזְבֹּ֧חַ H2076 unto the LORD לַֽיהוָ֛ה H3068 אֶת H853 sacrifice זֶ֥בַח H2077 the yearly הַיָּמִ֖ים H3117 וְאֶת H853 and his vow נִדְרֽוֹ׃ H5088 22 But Hannah וְחַנָּ֖ה H2584 לֹ֣א H3808 went not up עָלָ֑תָה H5927 כִּֽי H3588 for she said אָמְרָ֣ה H559 unto her husband לְאִישָׁ֗הּ H376 for עַד H5704 be weaned יִגָּמֵ֤ל H1580 I will not go up until the child הַנַּ֙עַר֙ H5288 and then I will bring וַהֲבִֽאֹתִ֗יו H935 him that he may appear וְנִרְאָה֙ H7200 אֶת H853 before פְּנֵ֣י H6440 the LORD יְהוָ֔ה H3068 and there abide וְיָ֥שַׁב H3427 שָׁ֖ם H8033 for עַד H5704 ever עוֹלָֽם׃ H5769 23 said וַיֹּ֣אמֶר H559 לָהּ֩ H0 And Elkanah אֶלְקָנָ֨ה H511 her husband אִישָׁ֜הּ H376 unto her Do עֲשִׂ֧י H6213 thee good הַטּ֣וֹב H2896 what seemeth בְּעֵינַ֗יִךְ H5869 abode וַתֵּ֤שֶׁב H3427 עַד H5704 until she weaned גָמְלָ֖הּ H1580 אֹת֔וֹ H853 אַ֛ךְ H389 establish יָקֵ֥ם H6965 him only the LORD יְהוָ֖ה H3068 אֶת H853 his word דְּבָר֑וֹ H1697 abode וַתֵּ֤שֶׁב H3427 So the woman הָֽאִשָּׁה֙ H802 suck וַתֵּ֣ינֶק H3243 אֶת H853 and gave her son בְּנָ֔הּ H1121 עַד H5704 until she weaned גָמְלָ֖הּ H1580 אֹתֽוֹ׃ H853 24 him she took him up וַתַּֽעֲלֵ֨הוּ H5927 עִמָּ֜הּ H5973 כַּֽאֲשֶׁ֣ר H834 And when she had weaned גְּמָלַ֗תּוּ H1580 bullocks בְּפָרִ֤ים H6499 with her with three שְׁלֹשָׁה֙ H7969 ephah וְאֵיפָ֨ה H374 and one אַחַ֥ת H259 of flour קֶ֙מַח֙ H7058 and a bottle וְנֵ֣בֶל H5035 of wine יַ֔יִן H3196 and brought וַתְּבִאֵ֥הוּ H935 him unto the house בֵית H1004 of the LORD יְהוָ֖ה H3068 in Shiloh שִׁל֑וֹ H7887 and the child נָֽעַר׃ H5288 and the child נָֽעַר׃ H5288 25 And they slew וַֽיִּשְׁחֲט֖וּ H7819 אֶת H853 a bullock הַפָּ֑ר H6499 and brought וַיָּבִ֥אוּ H935 אֶת H853 the child הַנַּ֖עַר H5288 אֶל H413 to Eli עֵלִֽי׃ H5941 26 And she said וַתֹּ֙אמֶר֙ H559 Oh בִּ֣י H994 my lord אֲדֹנִ֑י H113 liveth חֵ֥י H2416 as thy soul נַפְשְׁךָ֖ H5315 my lord אֲדֹנִ֑י H113 אֲנִ֣י H589 I am the woman הָֽאִשָּׁ֗ה H802 that stood הַנִּצֶּ֤בֶת H5324 עִמְּכָה֙ H5973 בָּזֶ֔ה H2088 by thee here praying לְהִתְפַּלֵּ֖ל H6419 אֶל H413 unto the LORD יְהוָֽה׃ H3068 27 אֶל H413 For this child הַנַּ֥עַר H5288 הַזֶּ֖ה H2088 I prayed הִתְפַּלָּ֑לְתִּי H6419 hath given וַיִּתֵּ֨ן H5414 and the LORD יְהוָ֥ה H3068 לִי֙ H0 אֶת H853 me my petition שְׁאֵ֣לָתִ֔י H7596 אֲשֶׁ֥ר H834 which I asked שָׁאַ֖לְתִּי H7592 מֵֽעִמּֽוֹ׃ H5973 28 וְגַ֣ם H1571 אָֽנֹכִ֗י H595 Therefore also I have lent שָׁא֖וּל H7592 him to the LORD לַֽיהוָֽה׃ H3068 כָּל H3605 as long as he
