town הָעִיר֙ H5892 לִקְרָאת֔וֹ H7122 and said וַיֹּ֖אמֶר H559 thou peaceably שָׁלֹ֥ם H7965 Comest בּוֹאֶֽךָ׃ H935 5 And he said וַיֹּ֣אמֶר׀ H559 Peaceably שָׁל֗וֹם H7965 to sacrifice לִזְבֹּ֤חַ H2076 unto the LORD לַֽיהוָה֙ H3068 I am come וּבָאתֶ֥ם H935 And he sanctified וַיְקַדֵּ֤שׁ H6942 I am come וּבָאתֶ֥ם H935 אִתִּ֖י H854 them to the sacrifice לַזָּֽבַח׃ H2077 And he sanctified וַיְקַדֵּ֤שׁ H6942 אֶת H853 Jesse יִשַׁי֙ H3448 וְאֶת H853 and his sons בָּנָ֔יו H1121 and called וַיִּקְרָ֥א H7121 לָהֶ֖ם H0 them to the sacrifice לַזָּֽבַח׃ H2077 6 וַיְהִ֣י H1961 And it came to pass when they were come בְּבוֹאָ֔ם H935 that he looked וַיַּ֖רְא H7200 אֶת H853 on Eliab אֱלִיאָ֑ב H446 and said וַיֹּ֕אמֶר H559 אַ֛ךְ H389 נֶ֥גֶד H5048 Surely the LORD'S יְהוָ֖ה H3068 anointed מְשִׁיחֽוֹ׃ H4899 7 said וַיֹּ֨אמֶר H559 But the LORD וַֽיהוָ֖ה H3068 אֶל H413 unto Samuel שְׁמוּאֵ֗ל H8050 אַל H408 Look תַּבֵּ֧ט H5027 אֶל H413 not on his countenance מַרְאֵ֛הוּ H4758 וְאֶל H413 or on the height גְּבֹ֥הַּ H1364 of his stature קֽוֹמָת֖וֹ H6967 כִּ֣י H3588 because I have refused מְאַסְתִּ֑יהוּ H3988 כִּ֣י׀ H3588 לֹ֗א H3808 אֲשֶׁ֤ר H834 looketh יִרְאֶ֥ה H7200 for man הָֽאָדָם֙ H120 כִּ֤י H3588 for man הָֽאָדָם֙ H120 looketh יִרְאֶ֥ה H7200 on the outward appearance לַעֵינַ֔יִם H5869 But the LORD וַֽיהוָ֖ה H3068 looketh יִרְאֶ֥ה H7200 on the heart לַלֵּבָֽב׃ H3824 8 called וַיִּקְרָ֤א H7121 Then Jesse יִשַׁי֙ H3448 אֶל H413 Abinadab אֲבִ֣ינָדָ֔ב H41 and made him pass וַיַּֽעֲבִרֵ֖הוּ H5674 before לִפְנֵ֣י H6440 Samuel שְׁמוּאֵ֑ל H8050 And he said וַיֹּ֕אמֶר H559 גַּם H1571 בָּזֶ֖ה H2088 לֹֽא H3808 chosen בָחַ֥ר H977 Neither hath the LORD יְהוָֽה׃ H3068 9 to pass by וַיַּֽעֲבֵ֥ר H5674 Then Jesse יִשַׁ֖י H3448 made Shammah שַׁמָּ֑ה H8048 And he said וַיֹּ֕אמֶר H559 גַּם H1571 בָּזֶ֖ה H2088 לֹֽא H3808 chosen בָחַ֥ר H977 Neither hath the LORD יְהוָֽה׃ H3068 10 to pass וַיַּֽעֲבֵ֥ר H5674 Again Jesse יִשַׁ֔י H3448 made seven שִׁבְעַ֥ת H7651 of his sons בָּנָ֖יו H1121 before לִפְנֵ֣י H6440 And Samuel שְׁמוּאֵל֙ H8050 said וַיֹּ֤אמֶר H559 And Samuel שְׁמוּאֵל֙ H8050 אֶל H413 Again Jesse יִשַׁ֔י H3448 לֹֽא H3808 hath not chosen בָחַ֥ר H977 The LORD יְהוָ֖ה H3068 בָּאֵֽלֶּה׃ H428 11 And he said וַיֹּ֨אמֶר H559 And Samuel שְׁמוּאֵ֤ל H8050 אֶל H413 unto Jesse יִשַׁי֙ H3448 Are here all הֲתַ֣מּוּ H8552 thy children הַנְּעָרִים֒ H5288 And he said וַיֹּ֨אמֶר H559 ע֚וֹד H5750 There remaineth שָׁאַ֣ר H7604 yet the youngest הַקָּטָ֔ן H6996 וְהִנֵּ֥ה H2009 and behold he keepeth רֹעֶ֖ה H7462 the sheep בַּצֹּ֑אן H6629 And he said וַיֹּ֨אמֶר H559 And Samuel שְׁמוּאֵ֤ל H8050 אֶל H413 unto Jesse יִשַׁי֙ H3448 Send שִׁלְחָ֣ה H7971 and fetch וְקָחֶ֔נּוּ H3947 כִּ֥י H3588 לֹֽא H3808 him for we will not sit down נָסֹ֖ב H5437 עַד H5704 till he come בֹּא֥וֹ H935 hither פֹֽה׃ H6311 12 And he sent וַיִּשְׁלַ֤ח H7971 and brought him in וַיְבִיאֵ֙הוּ֙ H935 וְה֣וּא H1931 Now he was ruddy אַדְמוֹנִ֔י H132 and withal עִם H5973 of a beautiful יְפֵ֥ה H3303 countenance עֵינַ֖יִם H5869 and goodly וְט֣וֹב H2896 to look to רֹ֑אִי H7210 said וַיֹּ֧אמֶר H559 And the LORD יְהוָ֛ה H3068 Arise ק֥וּם H6965 anoint מְשָׁחֵ֖הוּ H4886 כִּי H3588 זֶ֥ה H2088 הֽוּא׃ H1931 13 took וַיִּקַּ֨ח H3947 So Samuel שְׁמוּאֵ֔ל H8050 אֶת H853 the horn קֶ֣רֶן H7161 of oil הַשֶּׁ֗מֶן H8081 and anointed וַיִּמְשַׁ֣ח H4886 אֹתוֹ֮ H853 him in the midst בְּקֶ֣רֶב H7130 of his brethren אֶחָיו֒ H251 came וַתִּצְלַ֤ח H6743 and the Spirit רֽוּחַ H7307 of the LORD יְהוָה֙ H3068 אֶל H413 upon David דָּוִ֔ד H1732 from that day מֵֽהַיּ֥וֹם H3117 הַה֖וּא H1931 forward וָמָ֑עְלָה H4605 rose up וַיָּ֣קָם H6965 So Samuel שְׁמוּאֵ֔ל H8050 וַיֵּ֖לֶךְ H1980 to Ramah הָֽרָמָֽתָה׃ H7414 14 But the Spirit רֽוּחַ H7307 from the LORD יְהוָֽה׃ H3068 departed סָ֖רָה H5493 מֵעִ֣ם H5973 from Saul שָׁא֑וּל H7586 troubled וּבִֽעֲתַ֥תּוּ H1204 But the Spirit רֽוּחַ H7307 and an evil רָעָ֖ה H7451 מֵאֵ֥ת H853 from the LORD יְהוָֽה׃ H3068 15 said וַיֹּֽאמְר֥וּ H559 servants עַבְדֵֽי H5650 And Saul's שָׁא֖וּל H7586 אֵלָ֑יו H413 הִנֵּה H2009 נָ֧א H4994 spirit רֽוּחַ H7307 from God אֱלֹהִ֛ים H430 unto him Behold now an evil רָעָ֖ה H7451 troubleth מְבַֽעִתֶּֽךָ׃ H1204 16 now command יֹֽאמַר H559 נָ֤א H4994 Let our lord אֲדֹנֵ֙נוּ֙ H113 thy servants עֲבָדֶ֣יךָ H5650 which are before לְפָנֶ֔יךָ H6440 thee to seek out יְבַקְשׁ֕וּ H1245 a man אִ֕ישׁ H376 who is a cunning יֹדֵ֖עַ H3045 is upon thee that he shall play וְנִגֵּ֥ן H5059 on an harp בַּכִּנּ֑וֹר H3658 וְהָיָ֗ה H1961 בִּֽהְי֨וֹת H1961 עָלֶ֤יךָ H5921 spirit רֽוּחַ H7307 from God אֱלֹהִים֙ H430 and it shall come to pass when the evil רָעָ֔ה H7451 is upon thee that he shall play וְנִגֵּ֥ן H5059 with his hand בְּיָד֖וֹ H3027 and thou shalt be well וְט֥וֹב H2895 לָֽךְ׃ H0 17 said וַיֹּ֥אמֶר H559 And Saul שָׁא֖וּל H7586 אֶל H413 unto his servants עֲבָדָ֑יו H5650 Provide רְאוּ H7200 נָ֣א H4994 לִ֗י H0 me now a man אִ֚ישׁ H376 well מֵיטִ֣יב H3190 that can play לְנַגֵּ֔ן H5059 and bring וַהֲבִֽיאוֹתֶ֖ם H935 אֵלָֽי׃ H413 18 Then answered וַיַּעַן֩ H6030 one אֶחָ֨ד H259 of the servants מֵֽהַנְּעָרִ֜ים H5288 and said וַיֹּ֗אמֶר H559 הִנֵּ֨ה H2009 Behold I have seen רָאִ֜יתִי H7200 a son בֵּ֣ן H1121 of Jesse לְיִשַׁי֮ H3448 בֵּ֣ית H0 the Bethlehemite הַלַּחְמִי֒ H1022 that is cunning יֹדֵ֣עַ H3045 in playing נַ֠גֵּן H5059 and a mighty וְגִבּ֨וֹר H1368 valiant man חַ֜יִל H2428 and a man וְאִ֣ישׁ H376 of war מִלְחָמָ֛ה H4421 and prudent וּנְב֥וֹן H995 in matters דָּבָ֖ר H1697 and a man וְאִ֣ישׁ H376 and a comely תֹּ֑אַר H8389 and the LORD וַֽיהוָ֖ה H3068 עִמּֽוֹ׃ H5973 19 Send שִׁלְחָ֥ה H7971 Wherefore Saul שָׁא֛וּל H7586 messengers מַלְאָכִ֖ים H4397 אֶל H413 unto Jesse יִשָׁ֑י H3448 and said וַיֹּ֕אמֶר H559 Send שִׁלְחָ֥ה H7971 אֵלַ֛י H413 אֶת H853 me David דָּוִ֥ד H1732 thy son בִּנְךָ֖ H1121 אֲשֶׁ֥ר H834 which is with the sheep בַּצֹּֽאן׃ H6629 20 took וַיִּקַּ֨ח H3947 And Jesse יִשַׁ֜י H3448 an ass חֲמ֥וֹר H2543 laden with bread לֶ֙חֶם֙ H3899 and a bottle וְנֹ֣אד H4997 of wine יַ֔יִן H3196 kid וּגְדִ֥י H1423 עִזִּ֖ים H5795 and a אֶחָ֑ד H259 and sent וַיִּשְׁלַ֛ח H7971 them by בְּיַד H3027 David דָּוִ֥ד H1732 his son בְּנ֖וֹ H1121 אֶל H413 unto Saul שָׁאֽוּל׃ H7586 21 came וַיָּבֹ֤א H935 And David דָוִד֙ H1732 אֶל H413 to Saul שָׁא֔וּל H7586 and stood וַֽיַּעֲמֹ֖ד H5975 before לְפָנָ֑יו H6440 him and he loved וַיֶּֽאֱהָבֵ֣הֽוּ H157 him greatly מְאֹ֔ד H3966 וַֽיְהִי H1961 ל֖וֹ H0 and he became his armourbearer נֹשֵׂ֥א H5375 כֵלִֽים׃ H3627 22 sent וַיִּשְׁלַ֣ח H7971 And Saul שָׁא֔וּל H7586 אֶל H413 to Jesse יִשַׁ֖י H3448 saying לֵאמֹ֑ר H559 I pray thee stand יַֽעֲמָד H5975 נָ֤א H4994 Let David דָוִד֙ H1732 before לְפָנַ֔י H6440 כִּֽי H3588 me for he hath found מָ֥צָא H4672 favour חֵ֖ן H2580 in my sight בְּעֵינָֽי׃ H5869 23 וְהָיָ֗ה H1961 בִּֽהְי֤וֹת H1961 And it came to pass when the evil spirit ר֥וּחַ H7307 from God אֱלֹהִים֙ H430 אֶל H413 so Saul לְשָׁאוּל֙ H7586 took וְלָקַ֥ח H3947 that David דָּוִ֛ד H1732 אֶת H853 an harp הַכִּנּ֖וֹר H3658 and played וְנִגֵּ֣ן H5059 with his hand בְּיָד֑וֹ H3027 was refreshed וְרָוַ֤ח H7304 so Saul לְשָׁאוּל֙ H7586 and was well וְט֣וֹב H2895 ל֔וֹ H0 departed וְסָ֥רָה H5493 מֵֽעָלָ֖יו H5921 And it came to pass when the evil spirit ר֥וּחַ H7307 and the evil
