מֵהָֽעַמּוֹנִ֛ים H5984 עַל H5921 against Jehoshaphat יְהֽוֹשָׁפָ֖ט H3092 to battle לַמִּלְחָמָֽה׃ H4421 2 Then there came בָּ֣א H935 some that told וַיַּגִּ֤ידוּ H5046 Jehoshaphat לִיהֽוֹשָׁפָט֙ H3092 saying לֵאמֹ֔ר H559 Then there came בָּ֣א H935 עָלֶ֜יךָ H5921 multitude הָמ֥וֹן H1995 a great רָ֛ב H7227 against thee from beyond מֵעֵ֥בֶר H5676 the sea לַיָּ֖ם H3220 on this side Syria מֵֽאֲרָ֑ם H758 וְהִנָּם֙ H2009 בְּחַֽצְצ֣וֹן H0 and behold they be in Hazazontamar תָּמָ֔ר H2688 הִ֖יא H1931 עֵ֥ין H0 which is Engedi גֶּֽדִי׃ H5872 3 feared וַיִּרָ֕א H3372 and set וַיִּתֵּ֧ן H5414 And Jehoshaphat יְהֽוֹשָׁפָ֛ט H3092 אֶת H853 himself פָּנָ֖יו H6440 to seek לִדְר֣וֹשׁ H1875 the LORD לַֽיהוָ֑ה H3068 and proclaimed וַיִּקְרָא H7121 a fast צ֖וֹם H6685 throughout עַל H5921 כָּל H3605 all Judah הַֽחֲדָשָֽׁה׃ H2319 6 And said וַיֹּאמַ֗ר H559 O LORD יְהוָ֞ה H3068 God אֱלֹהִים֙ H430 of our fathers אֲבֹתֵ֙ינוּ֙ H1 הֲלֹ֨א H3808 אַתָּה H859 ה֤וּא H1931 God אֱלֹהִים֙ H430 in heaven בַּשָּׁמַ֔יִם H8064 וְאַתָּ֣ה H859 and rulest מוֹשֵׁ֔ל H4910 בְּכֹ֖ל H3605 not thou over all the kingdoms מַמְלְכ֣וֹת H4467 of the heathen הַגּוֹיִ֑ם H1471 and in thine hand וּבְיָֽדְךָ֙ H3027 is there not power כֹּ֣חַ H3581 and might וּגְבוּרָ֔ה H1369 וְאֵ֥ין H369 עִמְּךָ֖ H5973 so that none is able to withstand לְהִתְיַצֵּֽב׃ H3320 7 הֲלֹ֣א׀ H3808 אַתָּ֣ה H859 Art not thou our God אֱלֹהֵ֗ינוּ H430 who didst drive out הוֹרַ֙שְׁתָּ֙ H3423 אֶת H853 the inhabitants יֹֽשְׁבֵי֙ H3427 of this land הָאָ֣רֶץ H776 הַזֹּ֔את H2063 before מִלִּפְנֵ֖י H6440 thy people עַמְּךָ֣ H5971 Israel יִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל H3478 and gavest וַֽתִּתְּנָ֗הּ H5414 it to the seed לְזֶ֛רַע H2233 of Abraham אַבְרָהָ֥ם H85 thy friend אֹֽהַבְךָ֖ H157 for ever לְעוֹלָֽם׃ H5769 8 And they dwelt וַיֵּֽשְׁב֖וּ H3427 בָ֑הּ H0 therein and have built וַיִּבְנ֨וּ H1129 לְךָ֧׀ H0 בָּ֛הּ H0 thee a sanctuary מִקְדָּ֖שׁ H4720 therein for thy name לְשִׁמְךָ֥ H8034 saying לֵאמֹֽר׃ H559 9 אִם H518 cometh תָּב֨וֹא H935 עָלֵ֜ינוּ H5921 If when evil רָעָ֗ה H7451 upon us as the sword חֶרֶב֮ H2719 judgment שְׁפוֹט֮ H8196 or pestilence וְדֶ֣בֶר H1698 or famine וְרָעָב֒ H7458 we stand נַֽעַמְדָ֞ה H5975 and in thy presence וּלְפָנֶ֔יךָ H6440 is in this house בַּבַּ֣יִת H1004 הַזֶּה֙ H2088 and in thy presence וּלְפָנֶ֔יךָ H6440 כִּ֥י H3588 for thy name שִׁמְךָ֖ H8034 is in this house בַּבַּ֣יִת H1004 הַזֶּ֑ה H2088 and cry וְנִזְעַ֥ק H2199 אֵלֶ֛יךָ H413 unto thee in our affliction מִצָּֽרָתֵ֖נוּ H6869 then thou wilt hear וְתִשְׁמַ֥ע H8085 and help וְתוֹשִֽׁיעַ׃ H3467 10 וְעַתָּ֡ה H6258 הִנֵּה֩ H2009 And now behold the children בְנֵֽי H1121 of Ammon עַמּ֨וֹן H5983 and Moab וּמוֹאָ֜ב H4124 and mount וְהַר H2022 Seir שֵׂעִ֗יר H8165 אֲ֠שֶׁר H834 לֹֽא H3808 whom thou wouldest not let נָתַ֤תָּה H5414 Israel לְיִשְׂרָאֵל֙ H3478 invade בְּבֹאָ֖ם H935 בָהֶ֔ם H0 invade בְּבֹאָ֖ם H935 of the land מֵאֶ֣רֶץ H776 of Egypt מִצְרָ֑יִם H4714 כִּ֛י H3588 but they turned סָ֥רוּ H5493 מֵֽעֲלֵיהֶ֖ם H5921 וְלֹ֥א H3808 from them and destroyed הִשְׁמִידֽוּם׃ them for we have no might כֹּ֔חַ H3581 against לִ֠פְנֵי H6440 company הֶֽהָמ֥וֹן H1995 this great הָרָ֛ב H7227 הַזֶּ֖ה H2088 that cometh הַבָּ֣א H935 עָלֵ֑ינוּ H5921 we וַֽאֲנַ֗חְנוּ H587 לֹ֤א H3808 against us neither know נֵדַע֙ H3045 מַֽה H4100 what to do נַּעֲשֶׂ֔ה H6213 כִּ֥י H3588 עָלֶ֖יךָ H5921 but our eyes עֵינֵֽינוּ׃ H5869 13 וְכָ֨ל H3605 And all Judah יְהוּדָ֔ה H3063 stood עֹֽמְדִ֖ים H5975 before לִפְנֵ֣י H6440 the LORD יְהוָ֑ה H3068 with גַּם H1571 their little ones טַפָּ֖ם H2945 their wives נְשֵׁיהֶ֥ם H802 and their children וּבְנֵיהֶֽם׃ H1121 14 Then upon Jahaziel וְיַֽחֲזִיאֵ֡ל H3166 of the sons בְּנֵ֣י H1121 of Zechariah זְכַרְיָ֡הוּ H2148 of the sons בְּנֵ֣י H1121 of Benaiah בְּ֠נָיָה H1141 of the sons בְּנֵ֣י H1121 of Jeiel יְעִיאֵ֧ל H3273 of the sons בְּנֵ֣י H1121 of Mattaniah מַתַּנְיָ֛ה H4983 a Levite הַלֵּוִ֖י H3881 מִן H4480 of the sons בְּנֵ֣י H1121 of Asaph אָסָ֑ף H623 הָֽיְתָ֤ה H1961 עָלָיו֙ H5921 came the Spirit ר֣וּחַ H7307 of the LORD יְהוָ֔ה H3068 in the midst בְּת֖וֹךְ H8432 of the congregation הַקָּהָֽל׃ H6951 15 And he said אָמַ֨ר H559 Hearken הַקְשִׁ֤יבוּ H7181 כָל H3605 ye all Judah יְהוּדָה֙ H3063 and ye inhabitants וְיֹֽשְׁבֵ֣י H3427 of Jerusalem יְרֽוּשָׁלִַ֔ם H3389 and thou king וְהַמֶּ֖לֶךְ H4428 Jehoshaphat יְהֽוֹשָׁפָ֑ט H3092 כֹּֽה H3541 And he said אָמַ֨ר H559 the LORD יְהוָ֜ה H3068 לָכֶ֗ם H0 אַ֠תֶּם H859 אַל H408 unto you Be not afraid תִּֽירְא֤וּ H3372 וְאַל H408 nor dismayed תֵּחַ֙תּוּ֙ H2865 by reason מִפְּנֵ֨י H6440 multitude הֶֽהָמ֤וֹן H1995 of this great הָרָב֙ H7227 הַזֶּ֔ה H2088 כִּ֣י H3588 לֹ֥א H3808 לָכֶ֛ם H0 for the battle הַמִּלְחָמָ֖ה H4421 כִּ֥י H3588 is not yours but God's לֵֽאלֹהִֽים׃ H430 16 To morrow מָחָר֙ H4279 go ye down רְד֣וּ H3381 עֲלֵיהֶ֔ם H5921 הִנָּ֥ם H2005 against them behold they come up עֹלִ֖ים H5927 by the cliff בְּמַֽעֲלֵ֣ה H4608 of Ziz הַצִּ֑יץ H6732 and ye shall find וּמְצָאתֶ֤ם H4672 אֹתָם֙ H853 them at the end בְּס֣וֹף H5490 of the brook הַנַּ֔חַל H5158 before פְּנֵ֖י H6440 the wilderness מִדְבַּ֥ר H4057 of Jeruel יְרוּאֵֽל׃ H3385 17 לֹ֥א H3808 לָכֶ֖ם H0 Ye shall not need to fight לְהִלָּחֵ֣ם H3898 in this בָּזֹ֑את H2063 battle set הִתְיַצְּב֣וּ H3320 yourselves stand עִמְד֡וּ H5975 ye still and see וּרְא֣וּ H7200 אֶת H853 the salvation יְשׁוּעַת֩ H3444 of the LORD וַֽיהוָ֖ה H3068 עִמָּכֶ֜ם H5973 with you O Judah יְהוּדָ֣ה H3063 and Jerusalem וִירֽוּשָׁלִַ֗ם H3389 אַל H408 fear תִּֽירְאוּ֙ H3372 וְאַל H408 not nor be dismayed תֵּחַ֔תּוּ H2865 to morrow מָחָר֙ H4279 go out צְא֣וּ H3318 against לִפְנֵיהֶ֔ם H6440 of the LORD וַֽיהוָ֖ה H3068 עִמָּכֶֽם׃ H5973 18 bowed וַיִּקֹּ֧ד H6915 And Jehoshaphat יְהֽוֹשָׁפָ֛ט H3092 his head with his face אַפַּ֖יִם H639 to the ground אָ֑רְצָה H776 וְכָל H3605 and all Judah יְהוּדָ֞ה H3063 and the inhabitants וְיֹֽשְׁבֵ֣י H3427 of Jerusalem יְרֽוּשָׁלִַ֗ם H3389 fell נָֽפְלוּ֙ H5307 before לִפְנֵ֣י H6440 the LORD לַֽיהוָֽה׃ H3068 worshipping לְהִֽשְׁתַּחֲוֹ֖ת H7812 the LORD לַֽיהוָֽה׃ H3068 19 stood up וַיָּקֻ֧מוּ H6965 And the Levites הַלְוִיִּ֛ם H3881 מִן H4480 and of the children בְּנֵ֣י H1121 of the Kohathites הַקְּהָתִ֖ים H6956 וּמִן H4480 and of the children בְּנֵ֣י H1121 of the Korhites הַקָּרְחִ֑ים H7145 to praise לְהַלֵּ֗ל H1984 the LORD לַֽיהוָה֙ H3068 God אֱלֹהֵ֣י H430 of Israel יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל H3478 voice בְּק֥וֹל H6963 with a loud גָּד֖וֹל H1419 on high לְמָֽעְלָה׃ H4605 20 And they rose early וַיַּשְׁכִּ֣ימוּ H7925 in the morning בַבֹּ֔קֶר H1242 and as they went forth וּבְצֵאתָ֞ם H3318 into the wilderness לְמִדְבַּ֣ר H4057 of Tekoa תְּק֑וֹעַ H8620 and as they went forth וּבְצֵאתָ֞ם H3318 stood עָמַ֣ד H5975 Jehoshaphat יְהֽוֹשָׁפָ֗ט H3092 and said וַיֹּ֙אמֶר֙ H559 Hear שְׁמָע֗וּנִי H8085 me O Judah יְהוּדָה֙ H3063 and ye inhabitants וְיֹֽשְׁבֵ֣י H3427 of Jerusalem יְרֽוּשָׁלִַ֔ם H3389 Believe הַֽאֲמִ֥ינוּ H539 in the LORD בַּֽיהוָ֤ה H3068 your God אֱלֹֽהֵיכֶם֙ H430 Believe הַֽאֲמִ֥ינוּ H539 Believe הַֽאֲמִ֥ינוּ H539 his prophets בִנְבִיאָ֖יו H5030 so shall ye prosper וְהַצְלִֽיחוּ׃ H6743 21 And when he had consulted וַיִּוָּעַץ֙ H3289 אֶל H413 with the people הָעָ֔ם H5971 he appointed וַיַּֽעֲמֵ֤ד H5975 singers מְשֹֽׁרֲרִים֙ H7891 the LORD לַֽיהוָ֔ה H3068 and that should praise וּֽמְהַלְלִ֖ים H1984 the beauty לְהַדְרַת H1927 of holiness קֹ֑דֶשׁ H6944 as they went out בְּצֵאת֙ H3318 before לִפְנֵ֣י H6440 the army הֶֽחָל֔וּץ H2502 and to say וְאֹֽמְרִים֙ H559 Praise הוֹד֣וּ H3034 the LORD לַֽיהוָ֔ה H3068 כִּ֥י H3588 endureth for ever לְעוֹלָ֖ם H5769 for his mercy חַסְדּֽוֹ׃ H2617 22 And when וּבְעֵת֩ H6256 they began הֵחֵ֨לּוּ H2490 to sing בְרִנָּ֜ה H7440 and to praise וּתְהִלָּ֗ה H8416 set נָתַ֣ן H5414 the LORD יְהוָ֣ה׀ H3068 ambushments מְ֠אָֽרְבִים H693 עַל H5921 against the children בְּנֵ֨י H1121 of Ammon עַמּ֜וֹן H5983 Moab מוֹאָ֧ב H4124 and mount וְהַר H2022 Seir שֵׂעִ֛יר H8165 which were come הַבָּאִ֥ים H935 against Judah לִֽיהוּדָ֖ה H3063 and they were smitten וַיִּנָּגֵֽפוּ׃ H5062 23 stood up וַ֠יַּֽעַמְדוּ H5975 For the children בְּנֵ֨י H1121 of Ammon עַמּ֧וֹן H5983 and Moab וּמוֹאָ֛ב H4124 עַל H5921 against the inhabitants בְּיֽוֹשְׁבֵ֣י H3427 of mount הַר H2022 Seir שֵׂעִ֔יר H8165 utterly to slay לְהַֽחֲרִ֣ים H2763 and destroy וּלְהַשְׁמִ֑יד H8045 them and when they had made an end וּכְכַלּוֹתָם֙ H3615 against the inhabitants בְּיֽוֹשְׁבֵ֣י H3427 Seir שֵׂעִ֔יר H8165 helped עָֽזְר֥וּ H5826 every one אִישׁ H376 another בְּרֵעֵ֖הוּ H7453 to destroy לְמַשְׁחִֽית׃ H4889 24 And when Judah וִֽיהוּדָ֛ה H3063 came בָּ֥א H935 עַל H5921 toward the watch tower הַמִּצְפֶּ֖ה H4707 in the wilderness לַמִּדְבָּ֑ר H4057 they looked וַיִּפְנוּ֙ H6437 אֶל H413 unto the multitude הֶ֣הָמ֔וֹן H1995 וְהִנָּ֧ם H2005 and behold they were dead bodies פְּגָרִ֛ים H6297 fallen נֹֽפְלִ֥ים H5307 to the earth אַ֖רְצָה H776 וְאֵ֥ין H369 and none escaped פְּלֵיטָֽה׃ H6413 25 came וַיָּבֹ֨א H935 And when Jehoshaphat יְהֽוֹשָׁפָ֣ט H3092 and his people וְעַמּוֹ֮ H5971 in gathering בֹּֽזְזִ֥ים H962 אֶת H853 of the spoil הַשָּׁלָ֖ל H7998 of them they found וַיִּמְצְאוּ֩ H4672 בָהֶ֨ם H0 among them in abundance לָרֹ֜ב H7230 both riches וּרְכ֤וּשׁ H7399 with the dead bodies וּפְגָרִים֙ H6297 jewels וּכְלֵ֣י H3627 חֲמֻד֔וֹת H2530 which they stripped off וַיְנַצְּל֥וּ H5337 לָהֶ֖ם H0 for themselves more than לְאֵ֣ין H369 they could carry away מַשָּׂ֑א H4853 וַיִּֽהְי֞וּ H1961 days יָמִ֧ים H3117 and they were three שְׁלוֹשָׁ֛ה H7969 in gathering בֹּֽזְזִ֥ים H962 אֶת H853 of the spoil הַשָּׁלָ֖ל H7998 כִּ֥י H3588 it was so much רַב H7227 הֽוּא׃ H1931 26 day הַיּֽוֹם׃ H3117 And on the fourth הָֽרְבִעִ֗י H7243 they assembled נִקְהֲלוּ֙ H6950 The valley עֵ֥מֶק H6010 of Berachah בְּרָכָ֖ה H1294 כִּי H3588 שָׁ֖ם H8033 for there they blessed בֵּרֲכ֣וּ H1288 אֶת H853 the LORD יְהוָ֑ה H3068 עַל H5921 כֵּ֡ן H3651 was called קָֽרְא֞וּ H7121 אֶת H853 therefore the name שֵׁ֨ם H8034 of the same place הַמָּק֥וֹם H4725 הַה֛וּא H1931 The valley עֵ֥מֶק H6010 of Berachah בְּרָכָ֖ה H1294 עַד H5704 day הַיּֽוֹם׃ H3117 27 Then they returned לָשׁ֥וּב H7725 כָּל H3605 every man אִ֨ישׁ H376 of Judah יְהוּדָ֤ה H3063 and Jerusalem יְרֽוּשָׁלִַ֖ם H3389 and Jehoshaphat וִיהֽוֹשָׁפָ֣ט H3092 in the forefront בְּרֹאשָׁ֔ם H7218 Then they returned לָשׁ֥וּב H7725 אֶל H413 and Jerusalem יְרֽוּשָׁלִַ֖ם H3389 with joy בְּשִׂמְחָ֑ה H8057 כִּֽי H3588 had made them to rejoice שִׂמְּחָ֥ם H8055 for the LORD יְהוָ֖ה H3068 over their enemies מֵאֽוֹיְבֵיהֶֽם׃ H341 28 And they came וַיָּבֹ֙אוּ֙ H935 to Jerusalem יְר֣וּשָׁלִַ֔ם H3389 with psalteries בִּנְבָלִ֥ים H5035 and harps וּבְכִנֹּר֖וֹת H3658 and trumpets וּבַחֲצֹֽצְר֑וֹת H2689 אֶל H413 unto the house בֵּ֖ית H1004 of the LORD יְהוָֽה׃ H3068 29 וַֽיְהִי֙ H1961 And the fear פַּ֣חַד H6343 of God אֱלֹהִ֔ים H430 עַ֖ל H5921 כָּל H3605 was on all the kingdoms מַמְלְכ֣וֹת H4467 of those countries הָֽאֲרָצ֑וֹת H776 when they had heard בְּשָׁמְעָ֕ם H8085 כִּ֚י H3588 fought נִלְחַ֣ם H3898 that the LORD יְהוָ֔ה H3068 עִ֖ם H5973 against the enemies אֽוֹיְבֵ֥י H341 of Israel יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃ H3478 30 was quiet וַתִּשְׁקֹ֖ט H8252 So the realm מַלְכ֣וּת H4438 of Jehoshaphat יְהֽוֹשָׁפָ֑ט H3092 gave him rest וַיָּ֧נַֽח H5117 ל֦וֹ H0 for his God אֱלֹהָ֖יו H430 round about מִסָּבִֽיב׃ H5439 31 and he reigned מָלַ֣ךְ H4427 And Jehoshaphat יְהֽוֹשָׁפָ֖ט H3092 עַל H5921 over Judah יְהוּדָ֑ה H3063 old בֶּן H1121 he was thirty שְׁלֹשִׁים֩ H7970 and five וְחָמֵ֤שׁ H2568 years שָׁנָה֙ H8141 and he reigned מָלַ֣ךְ H4427 twenty וְעֶשְׂרִ֨ים H6242 and five וְחָמֵ֤שׁ H2568 years שָׁנָה֙ H8141 and he reigned מָלַ֣ךְ H4427 in Jerusalem בִּירֽוּשָׁלִַ֔ם H3389 name וְשֵׁ֣ם H8034 And his mother's אִמּ֔וֹ H517 was Azubah עֲזוּבָ֖ה H5806 the daughter בַּת H1323 of Shilhi שִׁלְחִֽי׃ H7977 32 וַיֵּ֗לֶךְ H1980 in the way בְּדֶ֛רֶךְ H1870 his father אָבִ֥יו H1 of Asa אָסָ֖א H609 וְלֹא H3808 and departed סָ֣ר H5493 מִמֶּ֑נָּה H4480 not from it doing לַֽעֲשׂ֥וֹת H6213 that which was right הַיָּשָׁ֖ר H3477 in the sight בְּעֵינֵ֥י H5869 of the LORD יְהוָֽה׃ H3068 33 אַ֥ךְ H389 Howbeit the high places הַבָּמ֖וֹת H1116 לֹא H3808 were not taken away סָ֑רוּ H5493 וְע֤וֹד H5750 for as yet the people הָעָם֙ H5971 לֹֽא H3808 had not prepared הֵכִ֣ינוּ H3559 their hearts
