and the morrow וּמִֽמָּחֳרָֽת׃ H4283 13 had called וַיִּקְרָא H7121 ל֣וֹ H0 And when David דָוִ֗ד H1732 him he did eat וַיֹּ֧אכַל H398 before לְפָנָ֛יו H6440 and drink וַיֵּ֖שְׁתְּ H8354 him and he made him drunk וַֽיְשַׁכְּרֵ֑הוּ H7937 he went out וַיֵּצֵ֣א H3318 and at even בָעֶ֗רֶב H6153 to lie לִשְׁכַּ֤ב H7901 on his bed בְּמִשְׁכָּבוֹ֙ H4904 עִם H5973 with the servants עַבְדֵ֣י H5650 of his lord אֲדֹנָ֔יו H113 וְאֶל H413 to his house בֵּית֖וֹ H1004 לֹ֥א H3808 but went not down יָרָֽד׃ H3381 14 וַיְהִ֣י H1961 And it came to pass in the morning בַבֹּ֔קֶר H1242 wrote וַיִּכְתֹּ֥ב H3789 that David דָּוִ֛ד H1732 a letter סֵ֖פֶר H5612 אֶל H413 to Joab יוֹאָ֑ב H3097 and sent וַיִּשְׁלַ֖ח H7971 it by the hand בְּיַ֥ד H3027 of Uriah אֽוּרִיָּֽה׃ H223 15 And he wrote וַיִּכְתֹּ֥ב H3789 in the letter בַּסֵּ֖פֶר H5612 saying לֵאמֹ֑ר H559 Set הָב֣וּ H3051 אֶת H853 ye Uriah אֽוּרִיָּ֗ה H223 אֶל H413 מוּל֙ H4136 in the forefront פְּנֵ֤י H6440 battle הַמִּלְחָמָה֙ H4421 of the hottest הַֽחֲזָקָ֔ה H2389 and retire וְשַׁבְתֶּ֥ם H7725 ye from him מֵאַֽחֲרָ֖יו H310 that he may be smitten וְנִכָּ֥ה H5221 and die וָמֵֽת׃ H4191 16 וַיְהִ֕י H1961 observed בִּשְׁמ֥וֹר H8104 And it came to pass when Joab יוֹאָ֖ב H3097 אֶל H413 the city הָעִ֑יר H5892 that he assigned וַיִּתֵּן֙ H5414 אֶת H853 Uriah א֣וּרִיָּ֔ה H223 אֶל H413 unto a place הַמָּקוֹם֙ H4725 אֲשֶׁ֣ר H834 where he knew יָדַ֔ע H3045 כִּ֥י H3588 אַנְשֵׁי H376 that valiant חַ֖יִל H2428 שָֽׁם׃ H8033 17 went out וַיֵּ֨צְא֜וּ H3318 And the men אַנְשֵׁ֤י H582 of the city הָעִיר֙ H5892 and fought וַיִּלָּֽחֲמ֣וּ H3898 אֶת H854 with Joab יוֹאָ֔ב H3097 and there fell וַיִּפֹּ֥ל H5307 מִן H4480 some of the people הָעָ֖ם H5971 of the servants מֵֽעַבְדֵ֣י H5650 of David דָוִ֑ד H1732 died וַיָּ֕מָת H4191 גַּ֖ם H1571 and Uriah אֽוּרִיָּ֥ה H223 the Hittite הַֽחִתִּֽי׃ H2850 18 sent וַיִּשְׁלַ֖ח H7971 Then Joab יוֹאָ֑ב H3097 and told וַיַּגֵּ֣ד H5046 David לְדָוִ֔ד H1732 אֶת H853 כָּל H3605 all the things דִּבְרֵ֖י H1697 concerning the war הַמִּלְחָמָֽה׃ H4421 19 And charged וַיְצַ֥ו H6680 אֶת H853 the messenger הַמַּלְאָ֖ךְ H4397 saying לֵאמֹ֑ר H559 When thou hast made an end כְּכַלּֽוֹתְךָ֗ H3615 אֵ֛ת H853 כָּל הַמַּלְאָ֑ךְ H4397 and came וַיָּבֹא֙ H935 and shewed וַיַּגֵּ֣ד H5046 David לְדָוִ֔ד H1732 אֵ֛ת H853 כָּל H3605 אֲשֶׁ֥ר H834 had sent שְׁלָח֖וֹ H7971 all that Joab יוֹאָֽב׃ H3097 23 said וַיֹּ֤אמֶר H559 And the messenger הַמַּלְאָךְ֙ H4397 אֶל H413 unto David דָּוִ֔ד H1732 כִּֽי H3588 prevailed גָבְר֤וּ H1396 עָלֵ֙ינוּ֙ H5921 הָֽאֲנָשִׁ֔ים H376 against us and came out וַיֵּֽצְא֥וּ H3318 אֵלֵ֖ינוּ H413 unto us into the field הַשָּׂדֶ֑ה H7704 וַנִּֽהְיֶ֥ה H1961 עֲלֵיהֶ֖ם H5921 עַד H5704 and we were upon them even unto the entering פֶּ֥תַח H6607 of the gate הַשָּֽׁעַר׃ H8179 24 And the Then David דָּוִ֜ד H1732 אֶל H413 unto the messenger הַמַּלְאָ֗ךְ H4397 כֹּֽה H3541 Thus shalt thou say תֹאמַ֤ר H559 אֶל H413 unto Joab יוֹאָב֙ H3097 אַל H408 displease יֵרַ֤ע H3415 בְּעֵינֶ֙יךָ֙
