H4427 עַל H5921 over Israel יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל H3478 two וּשְׁתַּ֥יִם H8147 years שָׁנִ֖ים H8141 and reigned מָלָ֑ךְ H4427 אַ֚ךְ H389 But the house בֵּ֣ית H1004 of Judah יְהוּדָ֔ה H3063 הָי֖וּ H1961 followed אַֽחֲרֵ֥י H310 David דָוִֽד׃ H1732 11 וַֽיְהִי֙ H1961 And the time מִסְפַּ֣ר H4557 הַיָּמִ֔ים H3117 אֲשֶׁר֩ H834 הָיָ֨ה H1961 that David דָוִ֥ד H1732 was king מֶ֛לֶךְ H4428 in Hebron בְּחֶבְר֖וֹן H2275 עַל H5921 over the house בֵּ֣ית H1004 of Judah יְהוּדָ֑ה H3063 was seven שֶׁ֥בַע H7651 years שָׁנִ֖ים H8141 and six וְשִׁשָּׁ֥ה H8337 months חֳדָשִֽׁים׃ H2320 12 went out וַיֵּצֵא֙ H3318 And Abner אַבְנֵ֣ר H74 the son בֶּן H1121 of Ner נֵ֔ר H5369 and the servants וְעַבְדֵ֖י H5650 אִֽישׁ H0 of Ishbosheth בֹּ֣שֶׁת H378 the son בֶּן H1121 of Saul שָׁא֑וּל H7586 from Mahanaim מִֽמַּחֲנַ֖יִם H4266 to Gibeon גִּבְעֽוֹנָה׃ H1391 13 And Joab וְיוֹאָ֨ב H3097 the son בֶּן H1121 of Zeruiah צְרוּיָ֜ה H6870 and the servants וְעַבְדֵ֤י H5650 of David דָוִד֙ H1732 went out יָֽצְא֔וּ H3318 and met וַֽיִּפְגְּשׁ֛וּם H6298 עַל H5921 and the other on the other side of the pool הַבְּרֵכָ֖ה H1295 of Gibeon גִּבְע֖וֹן H1391 together יַחְדָּ֑ו H3162 and they sat down וַיֵּ֨שְׁב֜וּ H3427 אֵ֤לֶּה H428 עַל H5921 and the other on the other side of the pool הַבְּרֵכָ֖ה H1295 מִזֶּ֔ה H2088 וְאֵ֥לֶּה H428 עַל H5921 and the other on the other side of the pool הַבְּרֵכָ֖ה H1295 מִזֶּֽה׃ H2088 14 said וַיֹּ֥אמֶר H559 And Abner אַבְנֵר֙ H74 אֶל H413 to Joab יוֹאָ֖ב H3097 Let them arise יָקֻֽמוּ׃ H6965 נָא֙ H4994 Let the young men הַנְּעָרִ֔ים H5288 and play וִישַֽׂחֲק֖וּ H7832 before לְפָנֵ֑ינוּ H6440 said וַיֹּ֥אמֶר H559 to Joab יוֹאָ֖ב H3097 Let them arise יָקֻֽמוּ׃ H6965 15 Then there arose וַיָּקֻ֖מוּ H6965 and went over וַיַּֽעַבְר֣וּ H5674 by number בְמִסְפָּ֑ר H4557 and twelve וּשְׁנֵ֥ים H8147 עָשָׂ֣ר H6240 of Benjamin לְבִנְיָמִ֗ן H1144 וּלְאִ֥ישׁ H0 which pertained to Ishbosheth בֹּ֙שֶׁת֙ H378 the son בֶּן H1121 of Saul שָׁא֔וּל H7586 and twelve וּשְׁנֵ֥ים H8147 עָשָׂ֖ר H6240 of the servants מֵֽעַבְדֵ֥י H5650 of David דָוִֽד׃ H1732 16 And they caught וַֽיַּחֲזִ֜קוּ H2388 every one אִ֣ישׁ׀ H376 by the head בְּרֹ֣אשׁ H7218 his fellow רֵעֵ֔הוּ H7453 and thrust his sword וְחַרְבּוֹ֙ H2719 side בְּצַ֣ד H6654 his fellow רֵעֵ֔הוּ H7453 so they fell down וַֽיִּפְּל֖וּ H5307 together יַחְדָּ֑ו H3162 was called וַיִּקְרָא֙ H7121 wherefore that place לַמָּק֣וֹם H4725 הַה֔וּא of David דָוִֽד׃ H1732 18 וַיִּֽהְיוּ H1961 שָׁ֗ם H8033 And there were three שְׁלֹשָׁה֙ H7969 sons בְּנֵ֣י H1121 of Zeruiah צְרוּיָ֔ה H6870 there Joab יוֹאָ֥ב H3097 and Abishai וַֽאֲבִישַׁ֖י H52 and Asahel וַֽעֲשָׂהאֵל֙ H6214 and Asahel וַֽעֲשָׂהאֵל֙ H6214 was as light קַ֣ל H7031 of foot בְּרַגְלָ֔יו H7272 as a כְּאַחַ֥ד H259 roe הַצְּבָיִ֖ם H6643 אֲשֶׁ֥ר H834 wild בַּשָּׂדֶֽה׃ H7704 19 pursued וַיִּרְדֹּ֥ף H7291 And Asahel עֲשָׂהאֵ֖ל H6214 after מֵאַֽחֲרֵ֖י H310 Abner אַבְנֵֽר׃ H74 וְלֹֽא H3808 he turned נָטָ֣ה H5186 לָלֶ֗כֶת H1980 עַל H5921 not to the right hand הַיָּמִין֙ H3225 וְעַֽל H5921 nor to the left הַשְּׂמֹ֔אול H8040 after מֵאַֽחֲרֵ֖י H310 Abner אַבְנֵֽר׃ H74 20 looked וַיִּ֤פֶן H6437 Then Abner אַבְנֵר֙ H74 behind אַֽחֲרָ֔יו H310 And he answered וַיֹּ֖אמֶר H559 הַֽאַתָּ֥ה H859 זֶ֖ה H2088 Art thou Asahel עֲשָׂהאֵ֑ל H6214 And he answered וַיֹּ֖אמֶר H559 אָנֹֽכִי׃ H595 21 said וַיֹּ֧אמֶר H559 ל֣וֹ H0 And Abner אַבְנֵ֗ר H74 to him Turn thee aside נְטֵ֤ה H5186 לְךָ֙ H0 עַל H5921 to thy right hand יְמִֽינְךָ֙ H3225 א֣וֹ H176 עַל H5921 or to thy left שְׂמֹאלֶ֔ךָ H8040 and lay thee hold וֶֽאֱחֹ֣ז H270 לְךָ֗ H0 on one אֶחָד֙ H259 of the young men מֵֽהַנְּעָרִ֔ים H5288 and take וְקַח H3947 לְךָ֖ H0 אֶת H853 thee his armour חֲלִצָת֑וֹ H2488 וְלֹֽא H3808 would אָבָ֣ה H14 But Asahel עֲשָׂהאֵ֔ל H6214 not turn aside לָס֖וּר H5493 from following מֵאַֽחֲרָֽיו׃ H310 22 again וַיֹּ֧סֶף H3254 ע֣וֹד H5750 And Abner אַבְנֵ֗ר H74 said לֵאמֹר֙ H559 אֶל H413 to Asahel עֲשָׂהאֵ֔ל H6214 Turn thee aside ס֥וּר H5493 לְךָ֖ H0 from following מֵאַֽחֲרָ֑י H310 לָ֤מָּה H4100 me wherefore should I smite אַכֶּ֙כָּה֙ H5221 thee to the ground אַ֔רְצָה H776 וְאֵיךְ֙ H349 how then should I hold up אֶשָּׂ֣א H5375 my face פָנַ֔י H6440 אֶל H413 to Joab יוֹאָ֖ב H3097 thy brother אָחִֽיךָ׃ H251 23 Howbeit he refused וַיְמָאֵ֣ן H3985 to turn aside לָס֗וּר H5493 smote וַיַּכֵּ֣הוּ H5221 wherefore Abner אַבְנֵר֩ H74 behind מֵאַֽחֲרָ֔יו H310 of the spear הַֽחֲנִית֙ H2595 him under אֶל H413 the fifth הַחֹ֗מֶשׁ H2570 came out וַתֵּצֵ֤א H3318 of the spear הַֽחֲנִית֙ H2595 behind מֵאַֽחֲרָ֔יו H310 fell down נָ֨פַל H5307 שָׁ֖ם H8033 and died וַיָּמֹ֖ת H4191 in the same place תַּחְתָּ֑ו H8478 וַיְהִ֡י H1961 כָּל H3605 and it came to pass that as many as came הַבָּ֣א H935 him under אֶל H413 to the place הַמָּקוֹם֩ H4725 אֲשֶׁר H834 fell down נָ֨פַל H5307 שָׁ֧ם H8033 where Asahel עֲשָׂהאֵ֛ל H6214 and died וַיָּמֹ֖ת H4191 stood still וַֽיַּעֲמֹֽדוּ׃ H5975 24 pursued וַֽיִּרְדְּפ֛וּ H7291 Joab יוֹאָ֥ב H3097 also and Abishai וַֽאֲבִישַׁ֖י H52 after אַֽחֲרֵ֣י H310 Abner אַבְנֵ֑ר H74 and the sun וְהַשֶּׁ֣מֶשׁ H8121 went down בָּ֚אוּ H935 וְהֵ֗מָּה H1992 went down בָּ֚אוּ H935 עַד H5704 to the hill גִּבְעַ֣ת H1389 of Ammah אַמָּ֔ה H522 אֲשֶׁר֙ H834 עַל H5921 that lieth before פְּנֵי H6440 Giah גִ֔יחַ H1520 by the way דֶּ֖רֶךְ H1870 of the wilderness מִדְבַּ֥ר H4057 of Gibeon גִּבְעֽוֹן׃ H1391 25 gathered themselves together וַיִּֽתְקַבְּצ֤וּ H6908 And the children בְנֵֽי H1121 of Benjamin בִנְיָמִן֙ H1144 after אַֽחֲרֵ֣י H310 Abner אַבְנֵ֔ר H74 וַיִּֽהְי֖וּ H1961 troop לַֽאֲגֻדָּ֣ה H92 and became one אֶחָֽת׃ H259 and stood וַיַּ֣עַמְד֔וּ H5975 עַ֥ל H5921 on the top רֹאשׁ H7218 of an hill גִּבְעָ֖ה H1389 and became one אֶחָֽת׃ H259 26 called וַיִּקְרָ֨א H7121 Then Abner אַבְנֵ֜ר H74 אֶל H413 to Joab יוֹאָ֗ב H3097 and said תֹאמַ֣ר H559 for ever הֲלָנֶ֙צַח֙ H5331 devour תֹּ֣אכַל H398 Shall the sword חֶ֔רֶב H2719 הֲל֣וֹא H3808 knowest יָדַ֔עְתָּה H3045 כִּֽי H3588 thou not that it will be bitterness מָרָ֥ה H4751 תִֽהְיֶ֖ה H1961 in the latter end בָּאַֽחֲרוֹנָ֑ה H314 וְעַד H5704 מָתַי֙ H4970 לֹֽא H3808 and said תֹאמַ֣ר H559 the people לָעָ֔ם H5971 return לָשׁ֖וּב H7725 from following מֵאַֽחֲרֵ֥י H310 their brethren אֲחֵיהֶֽם׃ H251 27 said וַיֹּ֣אמֶר H559 And Joab יוֹאָ֔ב H3097 liveth חַ֚י H2416 As God הָֽאֱלֹהִ֔ים H430 כִּ֥י H3588 unless לוּלֵ֖א H3884 thou hadst spoken דִּבַּ֑רְתָּ H1696 כִּ֣י H3588 אָ֤ז H227 surely then in the morning מֵֽהַבֹּ֙קֶר֙ H1242 had gone up נַֽעֲלָ֣ה H5927 the people הָעָ֔ם H5971 every one אִ֖ישׁ H376 from following מֵאַֽחֲרֵ֥י H310 his brother אָחִֽיו׃ H251 28 blew וַיִּתְקַ֤ע H8628 So Joab יוֹאָב֙ H3097 a trumpet בַּשּׁוֹפָ֔ר H7782 stood still וַיַּֽעַמְדוּ֙ H5975 כָּל H3605 and all the people הָעָ֔ם H5971 וְלֹֽא H3808 and pursued יִרְדְּפ֥וּ H7291 ע֖וֹד H5750 after אַֽחֲרֵ֣י H310 Israel יִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל H3478 וְלֹֽא H3808 they any more יָסְפ֥וּ H3254 ע֖וֹד H5750 no more neither fought לְהִלָּחֵֽם׃ H3898 29 And Abner וְאַבְנֵ֣ר H74 and his men וַֽאֲנָשָׁ֗יו H582 walked וַיֵּֽלְכוּ֙ H1980 through the plain בָּֽעֲרָבָ֔ה H6160 H6908 אֶת H853 כָּל H3605 all the people הָעָ֑ם H5971 there lacked וַיִּפָּ֨קְד֜וּ H6485 servants מֵֽעַבְדֵ֥י H5650 of David's דָוִ֛ד H1732 nineteen תִּשְׁעָֽה H8672 עָשָׂ֥ר H6240 men אִ֖ישׁ H376 and Asahel וַֽעֲשָׂהאֵֽל׃ H6214 31 But the servants וְעַבְדֵ֣י H5650 of David דָוִ֗ד H1732 had smitten הִכּוּ֙ H5221 of Benjamin מִבִּנְיָמִ֔ן H1144 men וּבְאַנְשֵׁ֖י H582 and of Abner's אַבְנֵ֑ר H74 so that three שְׁלֹשׁ H7969 hundred מֵא֧וֹת H3967 and threescore וְשִׁשִּׁ֛ים H8346 men אִ֖ישׁ H376 died מֵֽתוּ׃ H4191 32 And they took up וַיִּשְׂאוּ֙ H5375 אֶת H853 Asahel עֲשָׂהאֵ֔ל H6214 and buried וַֽיִּקְבְּרֻ֙הוּ֙ H6912 him in the sepulchre בְּקֶ֣בֶר H6913 of his father אָבִ֔יו H1 אֲשֶׁ֖ר H834 בֵּ֣ית H0 which was in Bethlehem לָ֑חֶם H1035 וַיֵּֽלְכ֣וּ H1980 כָל H3605 all night הַלַּ֗יְלָה
