Jerusalem יְרוּשָׁלִַ֖ם H3389 and besieged וַיָּ֥צַר H6696 עָלֶֽיהָ׃ H5921 2 gave וַיִּתֵּן֩ H5414 And the Lord אֲדֹנָ֨י H136 into his hand בְּיָד֜וֹ H3027 אֶת H853 Jehoiakim יְהוֹיָקִ֣ים H3079 king H1121 of Judah יְהוּדָ֑ה H3063 Daniel דָּנִיֵּ֣אל H1840 Hananiah חֲנַנְיָ֔ה H2608 Mishael מִֽישָׁאֵ֖ל H4332 and Azariah וַעֲזַרְיָֽה׃ H5838 7 for he gave וַיָּ֨שֶׂם H7760 לָהֶ֛ם H1992 Unto whom the prince שַׂ֥ר H8269 of the eunuchs הַסָּרִיסִ֖ים H5631 names שֵׁמ֑וֹת H8034 for he gave וַיָּ֨שֶׂם H7760 unto Daniel לְדָֽנִיֵּ֜אל H1840 the name of Belteshazzar בֵּ֣לְטְשַׁאצַּ֗ר H1095 and to Hananiah וְלַֽחֲנַנְיָה֙ H2608 of Shadrach שַׁדְרַ֔ךְ H7714 and to Mishael וּלְמִֽישָׁאֵ֣ל H4332 of Meshach מֵישַׁ֔ךְ H4335 and to Azariah וְלַעֲזַרְיָ֖ה H5838 עֲבֵ֥ד H0 of Abednego נְגֽוֹ׃ H5664 8 purposed וַיָּ֤שֶׂם H7760 But Daniel דָּנִיֵּאל֙ H1840 עַל H5921 in his heart לִבּ֔וֹ H3820 אֲשֶׁ֧ר H834 לֹֽא H3808 that he might not defile יִתְגָּאָֽל׃ H1351 himself with the portion בְּפַתְבַּ֥ג H6598 of the king's הַמֶּ֖לֶךְ H4428 nor with the wine וּבְיֵ֣ין H3196 which he drank מִשְׁתָּ֑יו H4960 therefore he requested וַיְבַקֵּשׁ֙ H1245 of the prince מִשַּׂ֣ר H8269 of the eunuchs הַסָּרִיסִ֔ים H5631 אֲשֶׁ֖ר H834 לֹ֥א H3808 that he might not defile יִתְגָּאָֽל׃ H1351 9 had brought וַיִּתֵּ֤ן H5414 Now God הָֽאֱלֹהִים֙ H430 אֶת H853 Daniel דָּ֣נִיֵּ֔אל H1840 into favour לְחֶ֖סֶד H2617 and tender love וּֽלְרַחֲמִ֑ים H7356 with לִפְנֵ֖י H6440 the prince שַׂ֥ר H8269 of the eunuchs הַסָּרִיסִֽים׃ H5631 10 said וַיֹּ֜אמֶר H559 And the prince שַׂ֤ר H8269 of the eunuchs הַסָּרִיסִים֙ H5631 unto Daniel לְדָ֣נִיֵּ֔אל H1840 I fear יָרֵ֤א H3373 אֲנִי֙ H589 אֶת H853 my lord אֲדֹנִ֣י H113 the king לַמֶּֽלֶךְ׃ H4428 אֲשֶׁ֣ר H834 who hath appointed מִנָּ֔ה H4487 אֶת H853 your meat מַאֲכַלְכֶ֖ם H3978 וְאֶת H853 and your drink מִשְׁתֵּיכֶ֑ם H4960 אֲשֶׁ֡ר H834 לָמָּה֩ H4100 for why should he see יִרְאֶ֨ה H7200 אֶת H853 your faces פְּנֵיכֶ֜ם H6440 worse liking זֹֽעֲפִ֗ים H2196 מִן H4480 than the Then said וַיֹּ֥אמֶר H559 Daniel דָּנִיֵּ֣אל H1840 אֶל H413 to Melzar הַמֶּלְצַ֑ר H4453 אֲשֶׁ֤ר H834 had set מִנָּה֙ H4487 whom the prince שַׂ֣ר H8269 of the eunuchs הַסָּֽרִיסִ֔ים H5631 עַל H5921 Daniel דָּנִיֵּ֣אל H1840 Hananiah חֲנַנְיָ֔ה H2608 Mishael מִֽישָׁאֵ֖ל H4332 and Azariah וַעֲזַרְיָֽה׃ H5838 12 Prove נַס H5254 נָ֥א H4994 אֶת H853 thy servants עֲבָדֶ֖יךָ H5650 days יָמִ֣ים H3117 I beseech thee ten עֲשָׂרָ֑ה H6235 and let them give וְיִתְּנוּ H5414 לָ֜נוּ H0 מִן H4480 us pulse הַזֵּרֹעִ֛ים H2235 to eat וְנֹאכְלָ֖ה H398 and water וּמַ֥יִם H4325 to drink וְנִשְׁתֶּֽה׃ H8354 13 and as thou seest תִּרְאֵ֔ה H7200 before לְפָנֶ֙יךָ֙ H6440 Then let our countenances וּמַרְאֵה֙ H4758 Then let our countenances וּמַרְאֵה֙ H4758 of the children הַיְלָדִ֔ים H3206 that eat הָאֹ֣כְלִ֔ים consented וַיִּשְׁמַ֥ע H8085 לָהֶ֖ם H0 to them in this matter לַדָּבָ֣ר H1697 הַזֶּ֑ה H2088 and proved וַיְנַסֵּ֖ם H5254 days יָמִ֥ים H3117 them ten עֲשָׂרָֽה׃ H6235 15 And at the end וּמִקְצָת֙ H7117 days יָמִ֣ים H3117 of ten עֲשָׂרָ֔ה H6235 appeared נִרְאָ֤ה H7200 their countenances מַרְאֵיהֶם֙ H4758 fairer ט֔וֹב H2896 and fatter וּבְרִיאֵ֖י H1277 in flesh בָּשָׂ֑ר H1320 מִן H4480 כָּל H3605 than all the children הַיְלָדִ֔ים H3206 which did eat הָאֹ֣כְלִ֔ים H398 אֵ֖ת H853 meat פַּתְבַּ֥ג H6598 of the king's הַמֶּֽלֶךְ׃ H4428 16 וַיְהִ֣י H1961 Thus Melzar הַמֶּלְצַ֗ר H4453 took away נֹשֵׂא֙ H5375 אֶת H853 of their meat פַּתְבָּגָ֔ם H6598 and the wine וְיֵ֖ין H3196 that they should drink מִשְׁתֵּיהֶ֑ם H4960 and gave וְנֹתֵ֥ן H5414 לָהֶ֖ם H0 them pulse זֵרְעֹנִֽים׃ H2235 17 children וְהַיְלָדִ֤ים H3206 הָאֵ֙לֶּה֙ H428 As for these four אַרְבַּעְתָּ֔ם H702 gave נָתַ֨ן H5414 לָהֶ֧ם H0 God הָֽאֱלֹהִ֛ים H430 them knowledge מַדָּ֥ע H4093 and skill וְהַשְׂכֵּ֖ל H7919 בְּכָל H3605 in all learning סֵ֣פֶר H5612 and wisdom וְחָכְמָ֑ה H2451 and Daniel וְדָנִיֵּ֣אל H1840 had understanding הֵבִ֔ין H995 בְּכָל H3605 in all visions חָז֖וֹן H2377 and dreams וַחֲלֹמֽוֹת׃ H2472 18 Now at the end וּלְמִקְצָת֙ H7117 of the days הַיָּמִ֔ים H3117 אֲשֶׁר H834 had said אָמַ֥ר H559 that the king הַמֶּ֖לֶךְ H4428 brought וַיְבִיאֵם֙ H935 brought וַיְבִיאֵם֙ H935 them in then the prince שַׂ֣ר H8269 of the eunuchs הַסָּרִיסִ֔ים H5631 them in before לִפְנֵ֖י H6440 Nebuchadnezzar נְבֻכַדְנֶצַּֽר׃ H5019 19 communed וַיְדַבֵּ֣ר H1696 אִתָּם֮ H854 And the king הַמֶּֽלֶךְ׃ H4428 וְלֹ֤א H3808 with them and among them all was found נִמְצָא֙ H4672 מִכֻּלָּ֔ם H3605 none like Daniel כְּדָנִיֵּ֣אל H1840 Hananiah חֲנַנְיָ֔ה H2608 Mishael מִֽישָׁאֵ֖ל H4332 and Azariah וַעֲזַרְיָ֑ה H5838 therefore stood וַיַּֽעַמְד֖וּ H5975 they before לִפְנֵ֥י H6440 And the king הַמֶּֽלֶךְ׃ H4428 20 וְכֹ֗ל H3605 And in all matters דְּבַר֙ H1697 of wisdom חָכְמַ֣ת H2451 and understanding בִּינָ֔ה H998 אֲשֶׁר H834 enquired בִּקֵּ֥שׁ H1245 מֵהֶ֖ם H1992 that the king הַמֶּ֑לֶךְ H4428 of them he found וַֽיִּמְצָאֵ֞ם H4672 them ten times עֶ֣שֶׂר H6235 better יָד֗וֹת H3027 עַ֤ל H5921 כָּל H3605 than all the magicians הַֽחַרְטֻמִּים֙ H2748 and astrologers הָֽאַשָּׁפִ֔ים H825 אֲשֶׁ֖ר H834 בְּכָל H3605 that were in all his realm מַלְכוּתֽוֹ׃ H4438 21 וַֽיְהִי֙ H1961 And Daniel דָּֽנִיֵּ֔אל H1840 עַד H5704
