H413 came unto Jonah יוֹנָ֥ה H3124 the son בֶן H1121 of Amittai אֲמִתַּ֖י H573 saying לֵאמֹֽר׃ H559 2 Arise ק֠וּם H6965 לֵ֧ךְ H1980 אֶל H413 to Nineveh נִֽינְוֵ֛ה H5210 city הָעִ֥יר H5892 that great הַגְּדוֹלָ֖ה H1419 and cry וּקְרָ֣א H7121 עָלֶ֑יהָ H5921 כִּֽי H3588 is come up עָלְתָ֥ה H5927 against it for their wickedness רָעָתָ֖ם H7451 before לְפָנָֽי׃ H6440 3 rose up וַיָּ֤קָם H6965 But Jonah יוֹנָה֙ H3124 to flee לִבְרֹ֣חַ H1272 to Tarshish תַּרְשִׁ֔ישָׁה H8659 from the presence מִלִּפְנֵ֖י H6440 of the LORD יְהוָֽה׃ H3068 and went down וַיֵּ֤רֶד H3381 to Joppa יָפ֜וֹ H3305 and he found וַיִּמְצָ֥א H4672 a ship אָנִיָּ֣ה׀ H591 going לָב֤וֹא H935 to Tarshish תַּרְשִׁ֔ישָׁה H8659 so he paid וַיִּתֵּ֨ן H5414 the fare שְׂכָרָ֜הּ H7939 and went down וַיֵּ֤רֶד H3381 בָּהּ֙ H0 going לָב֤וֹא H935 עִמָּהֶם֙ H5973 to Tarshish תַּרְשִׁ֔ישָׁה H8659 from the presence מִלִּפְנֵ֖י H6440 of the LORD יְהוָֽה׃ H3068 4 But the LORD וַֽיהוָ֗ה H3068 sent out הֵטִ֤יל H2904 wind רֽוּחַ H7307 a great גָּד֖וֹל H1419 אֶל H413 in the sea בַּיָּ֑ם H3220 וַיְהִ֥י H1961 tempest סַֽעַר H5591 a great גָּד֖וֹל H1419 in the sea בַּיָּ֑ם H3220 so that the ship וְהָ֣אֳנִיָּ֔ה H591 was like חִשְּׁבָ֖ה H2803 to be broken לְהִשָּׁבֵֽר׃ H7665 5 were afraid וַיִּֽירְא֣וּ H3372 Then the mariners הַמַּלָּחִ֗ים H4419 and cried וַֽיִּזְעֲקוּ֮ H2199 every man אִ֣ישׁ H376 אֶל H413 unto his god אֱלֹהָיו֒ H430 and cast forth וַיָּטִ֨לוּ H2904 אֶת H853 the wares הַכֵּלִ֜ים H3627 אֲשֶׁ֤ר H834 that were in the ship בָּֽאֳנִיָּה֙ H591 אֶל H413 into the sea הַיָּ֔ם H3220 to lighten לְהָקֵ֖ל H7043 מֵֽעֲלֵיהֶ֑ם H5921 it of them But Jonah וְיוֹנָ֗ה H3124 was gone down יָרַד֙ H3381 אֶל H413 into the sides יַרְכְּתֵ֣י H3411 of the ship הַסְּפִינָ֔ה H5600 and he lay וַיִּשְׁכַּ֖ב H7901 and was fast asleep וַיֵּרָדַֽם׃ H7290 6 came וַיִּקְרַ֤ב H7126 אֵלָיו֙ H413 So the shipmaster רַ֣ב H7227 הַחֹבֵ֔ל H2259 to him and said וַיֹּ֥אמֶר H559 ל֖וֹ H0 מַה H4100 לְּךָ֣ H0 unto him What meanest thou O sleeper נִרְדָּ֑ם H7290 arise ק֚וּם H6965 call קְרָ֣א H7121 אֶל H413 if so be that God הָאֱלֹהִ֛ים H430 אוּלַ֞י H194 will think יִתְעַשֵּׁ֧ת H6245 if so be that God הָאֱלֹהִ֛ים H430 לָ֖נוּ H0 וְלֹ֥א H3808 upon us that we perish נֹאבֵֽד׃ H6 7 And they said וַיֹּאמְר֞וּ H559 every one אִ֣ישׁ H376 אֶל H413 to his fellow רֵעֵ֗הוּ H7453 לְכוּ֙ H1980 and let us cast וַיִּפֹּ֥ל H5307 and the lot הַגּוֹרָ֖ל H1486 that we may know וְנֵ֣דְעָ֔ה H3045 for whose cause בְּשֶׁלְּמִ֛י H7945 this evil הָרָעָ֥ה H7451 הַזֹּ֖את H2063 לָ֑נוּ H0 and let us cast וַיִּפֹּ֥ל H5307 and the lot הַגּוֹרָ֖ל H1486 and let us cast וַיִּפֹּ֥ל H5307 and the lot הַגּוֹרָ֖ל H1486 עַל H5921 upon Jonah יוֹנָֽה׃ H3124 8 Then said וַיֹּאמְר֣וּ H559 אֵלָ֔יו H413 they unto him Tell הַגִּידָה H5046 נָּ֣א H4994 לָ֔נוּ H0 בַּאֲשֶׁ֛ר H834 לְמִי H4310 us we pray thee for whose cause this evil הָרָעָ֥ה H7451 הַזֹּ֖את H2063 לָ֑נוּ H0 מַה H4100 is upon us What is thine occupation מְּלַאכְתְּךָ֙ H4399 and whence וּמֵאַ֣יִן H370 comest תָּב֔וֹא H935 מָ֣ה H4100 thou what is thy country אַרְצֶ֔ךָ H776 וְאֵֽי H335 מִזֶּ֥ה H2088 and of what people עַ֖ם H5971 אָֽתָּה׃ H859 9 And he said וַיֹּ֥אמֶר H559 אֲלֵיהֶ֖ם H413 unto them I am an Hebrew עִבְרִ֣י H5680 אֵלָ֖יו H413 מַה H4100 זֹּ֣את H2063 unto him Why hast thou done עָשִׂ֑יתָ H6213 כִּֽי H3588 knew יָדְע֣וּ H3045 Then were the men הָאֲנָשִׁ֗ים H582 כִּֽי H3588 from the presence מִלִּפְנֵ֤י H6440 of the LORD יְהוָה֙ H3068 ה֣וּא H1931 that he fled בֹרֵ֔חַ H1272 כִּ֥י H3588 because he had told הִגִּ֖יד H5046 לָהֶֽם׃ H1992 11 Then said וַיֹּאמְר֤וּ H559 אֵלָיו֙ H413 מַה H4100 they unto him What shall we do נַּ֣עֲשֶׂה H6213 לָּ֔ךְ H0 may be calm וְיִשְׁתֹּ֥ק H8367 unto thee that the sea הַיָּ֖ם H3220 מֵֽעָלֵ֑ינוּ H5921 כִּ֥י H3588 unto thee that the sea הַיָּ֖ם H3220 wrought הוֹלֵ֥ךְ H1980 and was tempestuous וְסֹעֵֽר׃ H5590 12 And he said וַיֹּ֣אמֶר H559 אֲלֵיהֶ֗ם H413 unto them Take me up שָׂא֙וּנִי֙ H5375 and cast me forth וַהֲטִילֻ֣נִי H2904 אֶל H413 into the sea הַיָּ֖ם H3220 be calm וְיִשְׁתֹּ֥ק H8367 into the sea הַיָּ֖ם H3220 מֵֽעֲלֵיכֶ֑ם H5921 כִּ֚י H3588 unto you for I know יוֹדֵ֣עַ H3045 אָ֔נִי H589 כִּ֣י H3588 that for my sake בְשֶׁלִּ֔י H7945 tempest הַסַּ֧עַר H5591 this great הַגָּד֛וֹל H1419 הַזֶּ֖ה H2088 עֲלֵיכֶֽם׃ H5921 13 rowed hard וַיַּחְתְּר֣וּ H2864 Nevertheless the men הָאֲנָשִׁ֗ים H582 to bring לְהָשִׁ֛יב H7725 אֶל H413 it to the land הַיַּבָּשָׁ֖ה H3004 וְלֹ֣א H3808 but they could יָכֹ֑לוּ H3201 כִּ֣י H3588 not for the sea הַיָּ֔ם H3220 wrought הוֹלֵ֥ךְ H1980 and was tempestuous וְסֹעֵ֖ר H5590 עֲלֵיהֶֽם׃ H5921 14 Wherefore they cried וַיִּקְרְא֨וּ H7121 אֶל H413 O LORD יְהוָ֔ה H3068 and said וַיֹּאמְר֗וּ H559 We beseech thee אָנָּ֤ה H577 O LORD יְהוָ֔ה H3068 אַל H408 נָ֣א H4994 we beseech thee let us not perish נֹאבְדָ֗ה H6 life בְּנֶ֙פֶשׁ֙ H5315 for this man's הָאִ֣ישׁ H376 הַזֶּ֔ה H2088 וְאַל H408 and lay תִּתֵּ֥ן H5414 עָלֵ֖ינוּ H5921 blood דָּ֣ם H1818 not upon us innocent נָקִ֑יא H5355 כִּֽי H3588 אַתָּ֣ה H859 O LORD יְהוָ֔ה H3068 כַּאֲשֶׁ֥ר H834 as it pleased חָפַ֖צְתָּ H2654 hast done עָשִֽׂיתָ׃ H6213 15 So they took up וַיִּשְׂאוּ֙ H5375 אֶת H853 Jonah יוֹנָ֔ה H3124 and cast him forth וַיְטִלֻ֖הוּ H2904 אֶל H413 and the sea הַיָּ֖ם H3220 ceased וַיַּעֲמֹ֥ד H5975 and the sea הַיָּ֖ם H3220 from her raging מִזַּעְפּֽוֹ׃ H2197 16 feared וַיִּֽירְא֧וּ H3372 הָאֲנָשִׁ֛ים H376 יִרְאָ֥ה H3373 exceedingly גְדוֹלָ֖ה H1419 אֶת H853 the LORD לַֽיהוָ֔ה H3068 and offered וַיִּֽזְבְּחוּ H2076 a sacrifice זֶ֙בַח֙ H2077 the LORD לַֽיהוָ֔ה H3068 and made וַֽיִּדְּר֖וּ H5087 vows נְדָרִֽים׃ H5088 17 had prepared וַיְמַ֤ן H4487 Now the LORD יְהוָה֙ H3068 fish הַדָּ֔ג H1709 a great גָּד֔וֹל H1419 to swallow up לִבְלֹ֖עַ H1104 אֶת H853 And Jonah יוֹנָה֙ H3124 וַיְהִ֤י H1961 And Jonah יוֹנָה֙ H3124 was in the
