גְדוֹלָ֑ה H1419 and he was very angry וַיִּ֖חַר H2734 לֽוֹ׃ H0 2 And he prayed וַיִּתְפַּלֵּ֨ל H6419 אֶל H413 thee O LORD יְהוָה֙ H3068 and said וַיֹּאמַ֗ר H559 I pray אָנָּ֤ה H577 thee O LORD יְהוָה֙ H3068 הֲלוֹא H3808 זֶ֣ה H2088 was not this my saying דְבָרִ֗י H1697 עַד H5704 הֱיוֹתִי֙ H1961 עַל H5921 when I was yet in my country אַדְמָתִ֔י H127 עַל H5921 כֵּ֥ן H3651 before קִדַּ֖מְתִּי H6923 Therefore I fled לִבְרֹ֣חַ H1272 unto Tarshish תַּרְשִׁ֑ישָׁה H8659 כִּ֣י H3588 for I knew יָדַ֗עְתִּי H3045 כִּ֤י H3588 אַתָּה֙ H859 God אֵֽל H410 that thou art a gracious חַנּ֣וּן H2587 and merciful וְרַח֔וּם H7349 slow אֶ֤רֶךְ H750 to anger אַפַּ֙יִם֙ H639 and of great וְרַב H7227 kindness חֶ֔סֶד H2617 and repentest וְנִחָ֖ם H5162 עַל H5921 thee of the evil הָרָעָֽה׃ H7451 3 וְעַתָּ֣ה H6258 Therefore now O LORD יְהוָ֔ה H3068 take קַח H3947 נָ֥א H4994 אֶת H853 I beseech thee my life נַפְשִׁ֖י H5315 מִמֶּ֑נִּי H4480 כִּ֛י H3588 from me for it is better ט֥וֹב H2896 for me to die מוֹתִ֖י H4194 than to live מֵחַיָּֽי׃ H2416 4 Then said וַיֹּ֣אמֶר H559 the LORD יְהוָ֔ה H3068 Doest thou well הַהֵיטֵ֖ב H3190 to be angry חָ֥רָה H2734 לָֽךְ׃ H0 5 went out וַיֵּצֵ֤א H3318 So Jonah יוֹנָה֙ H3124 מִן H4480 of the city בָּעִֽיר׃ H5892 and sat וַיֵּ֤שֶׁב H3427 on the east side מִקֶּ֣דֶם H6924 of the city בָּעִֽיר׃ H5892 and there made וַיַּעַשׂ֩ H6213 ל֨וֹ H0 שָׁ֜ם H8033 him a booth סֻכָּ֗ה H5521 and sat וַיֵּ֤שֶׁב H3427 תַּחְתֶּ֙יהָ֙ H8478 under it in the shadow בַּצֵּ֔ל H6738 עַ֚ד H5704 אֲשֶׁ֣ר H834 till he might see יִרְאֶ֔ה H7200 מַה H4100 יִּהְיֶ֖ה H1961 of the city בָּעִֽיר׃ H5892 6 prepared וַיְמַ֣ן H4487 And the LORD יְהוָֽה H3068 God אֱ֠לֹהִים H430 a gourd הַקִּֽיקָי֖וֹן H7021 and made it to come up וַיַּ֣עַל׀ H5927 מֵעַ֣ל H5921 So Jonah יוֹנָ֛ה H3124 לִֽהְי֥וֹת H1961 that it might be a shadow צֵל֙ H6738 עַל H5921 over his head רֹאשׁ֔וֹ H7218 to deliver לְהַצִּ֥יל H5337 ל֖וֹ H0 him from his grief מֵרָֽעָת֑וֹ H7451 glad וַיִּשְׂמַ֥ח H8055 So Jonah יוֹנָ֛ה H3124 עַל H5921 a gourd הַקִּֽיקָי֖וֹן H7021 שִׂמְחָ֥ה H8057 was exceeding גְדוֹלָֽה׃ H1419 7 prepared וַיְמַ֤ן H4487 But God הָֽאֱלֹהִים֙ H430 a worm תּוֹלַ֔עַת H8438 rose בַּעֲל֥וֹת H5927 when the morning הַשַּׁ֖חַר H7837 the next day לַֽמָּחֳרָ֑ת H4283 and it smote וַתַּ֥ךְ H5221 אֶת H853 the gourd הַקִּֽיקָי֖וֹן H7021 that it withered וַיִּיבָֽשׁ׃ H3001 8 וַיְהִ֣י׀ H1961 did arise כִּזְרֹ֣חַ H2224 And it came to pass when the sun הַשֶּׁ֛מֶשׁ H8121 prepared וַיְמַ֨ן H4487 that God אֱלֹהִ֜ים H430 wind ר֤וּחַ H7307 east קָדִים֙ H6921 a vehement חֲרִישִׁ֔ית H2759 beat וַתַּ֥ךְ H5221 And it came to pass when the sun הַשֶּׁ֛מֶשׁ H8121 עַל H5921 upon the head רֹ֥אשׁ H7218 of Jonah יוֹנָ֖ה H3124 that he fainted וַיִּתְעַלָּ֑ף H5968 and wished וַיִּשְׁאַ֤ל H7592 אֶת H853 in himself נַפְשׁוֹ֙ H5315 to die לָמ֔וּת H4191 and said וַיֹּ֕אמֶר H559 It is better ט֥וֹב H2896 for me to die מוֹתִ֖י H4194 than to live מֵחַיָּֽי׃ H2416 9 And he said וַיֹּ֕אמֶר H559 And God אֱלֹהִים֙ H430 אֶל H413 to Jonah יוֹנָ֔ה H3124 Doest thou well הֵיטֵ֥ב H3190 to be angry חָֽרָה H2734 לְךָ֖ H0 עַל H5921 for the gourd הַקִּֽיקָי֑וֹן H7021 And he said וַיֹּ֕אמֶר H559 Doest thou well הֵיטֵ֥ב H3190 to be angry חָֽרָה H2734 לִ֖י H0 עַד H5704 even unto death מָֽוֶת׃ H4194 10 Then said וַיֹּ֣אמֶר H559 the LORD יְהוָ֔ה H3068 אַתָּ֥ה H859 Thou hast had pity חַ֙סְתָּ֙ H2347 עַל H5921 on the gourd הַקִּ֣יקָי֔וֹן H7021 אֲשֶׁ֛ר H834 לֹא H3808 for the which thou hast not laboured עָמַ֥לְתָּ H5998 בּ֖וֹ H0 וְלֹ֣א H3808 neither madest it grow גִדַּלְתּ֑וֹ H1431 in a night וּבִן H1121 לַ֥יְלָה H3915 הָיָ֖ה H1961 in a night וּבִן H1121 לַ֥יְלָה H3915 and perished אָבָֽד׃ H6 11 וַֽאֲנִי֙ H589 לֹ֣א H3808 And should not I spare אָח֔וּס H2347 עַל H5921 Nineveh נִינְוֵ֖ה H5210 city הָעִ֣יר H5892 that great הַגְּדוֹלָ֑ה H1419 אֲשֶׁ֣ר H834 wherein are יֶשׁ H3426 בָּ֡הּ H0 more הַרְבֵּה֩ H7235 than sixscore מִֽשְׁתֵּים H8147 עֶשְׂרֵ֨ה H6240 thousand רִבּ֜וֹ H7239 persons אָדָ֗ם H120 אֲשֶׁ֤ר H834 לֹֽא H3808 that cannot discern יָדַע֙ H3045 בֵּין H996 between their right hand יְמִינ֣וֹ H3225 and their left hand לִשְׂמֹאל֔וֹ H8040 cattle וּבְהֵמָ֖ה H929 and also much רַבָּֽה׃ H7227 11 וַֽאֲנִי֙
