הַבָּשָׁ֖ן H1316 אֲשֶׁ֥ר H834 which was at Ashtaroth בְּעַשְׁתָּרֽוֹת׃ H6252 11 spake וַֽאֲמַרְתֶּ֤ם H559 אֵלֵ֡ינוּ H413 Wherefore our elders זְֽקֵינֵינוּ֩ H2205 וְכָל H3605 and all the inhabitants יֹֽשְׁבֵ֨י H3427 of our country אַרְצֵ֜נוּ H776 spake וַֽאֲמַרְתֶּ֤ם H559 Take קְח֨וּ H3947 with you בְיֶדְכֶ֤ם H3027 victuals צֵידָה֙ H6720 for the journey לַדֶּ֔רֶךְ H1870 וּלְכ֖וּ H1980 to meet לִקְרָאתָ֑ם H7125 spake וַֽאֲמַרְתֶּ֤ם H559 אֲלֵיהֶם֙ H413 unto them We are your servants עַבְדֵיכֶ֣ם H5650 אֲנַ֔חְנוּ H587 וְעַתָּ֖ה H6258 therefore now make כִּרְתוּ H3772 לָ֥נוּ H0 ye a league בְרִֽית׃ H1285 12 זֶ֣ה׀ H2088 This our bread לַחְמֵ֗נוּ H3899 we took hot חָ֞ם H2525 for our provision הִצְטַיַּ֤דְנוּ H6679 אֹתוֹ֙ H854 out of our houses מִבָּ֣תֵּ֔ינוּ H1004 on the day בְּי֥וֹם H3117 we came forth צֵאתֵ֖נוּ H3318 לָלֶ֣כֶת H1980 אֲלֵיכֶ֑ם H413 וְעַתָּה֙ H6258 הִנֵּ֣ה H2009 unto you but now behold it is dry יָבֵ֔שׁ H3001 וְהָיָ֖ה H1961 and it is mouldy נִקֻּדִֽים׃ H5350 13 וְאֵ֨לֶּה H428 And these bottles נֹאד֤וֹת H4997 of wine הַיַּ֙יִן֙ H3196 אֲשֶׁ֣ר H834 which we filled מִלֵּ֣אנוּ H4390 were new חֲדָשִׁ֔ים H2319 וְהִנֵּ֖ה H2009 and behold they be rent הִתְבַּקָּ֑עוּ H1234 וְאֵ֤לֶּה H428 and these our garments שַׂלְמוֹתֵ֙ינוּ֙ H8008 and our shoes וּנְעָלֵ֔ינוּ H5275 are become old בָּל֕וּ H1086 long מֵרֹ֥ב H7230 journey הַדֶּ֖רֶךְ H1870 by reason of the very מְאֹֽד׃ H3966 14 took וַיִּקְח֥וּ H3947 And the men הָֽאֲנָשִׁ֖ים H582 of their victuals מִצֵּידָ֑ם H6718 וְאֶת H853 not counsel at the mouth פִּ֥י H6310 of the LORD יְהוָ֖ה H3068 לֹ֥א H3808 and asked שָׁאָֽלוּ׃ H7592 15 made וַיַּ֨עַשׂ H6213 לָהֶ֤ם H0 And Joshua יְהוֹשֻׁ֙עַ֙ H3091 peace שָׁל֔וֹם H7965 with them and made וַיִּכְרֹ֥ת H3772 לָהֶ֛ם H0 a league בְּרִ֖ית H1285 with them to let them live לְחַיּוֹתָ֑ם H2421 sware וַיִּשָּֽׁבְע֣וּ H7650 לָהֶ֔ם H0 and the princes נְשִׂיאֵ֖י H5387 of the congregation הָֽעֵדָֽה׃ H5712 16 וַיְהִ֗י H1961 And it came to pass at the end מִקְצֵה֙ H7097 of three שְׁלֹ֣שֶׁת H7969 days יָמִ֔ים H3117 after אַֽחֲרֵ֕י H310 אֲשֶׁר H834 they had made כָּֽרְת֥וּ H3772 לָהֶ֖ם H0 a league בְּרִ֑ית H1285 with them that they heard וַֽיִּשְׁמְע֗וּ H8085 כִּֽי H3588 that they were their neighbours קְרֹבִ֥ים H7138 הֵם֙ H1992 אֵלָ֔יו H413 among וּבְקִרְבּ֖וֹ H7130 הֵ֥ם H1992 and that they dwelt יֹֽשְׁבִֽים׃ H3427 17 journeyed וַיִּסְע֣וּ H5265 And the children בְנֵֽי H1121 of Israel יִשְׂרָאֵ֗ל H3478 and came וַיָּבֹ֛אוּ H935 אֶל H413 Now their cities וְעָֽרֵיהֶם֙ H5892 day בַּיּ֣וֹם H3117 on the third הַשְּׁלִישִׁ֑י H7992 Now their cities וְעָֽרֵיהֶם֙ H5892 were Gibeon גִּבְע֣וֹן H1391 and Chephirah וְהַכְּפִירָ֔ה H3716 and Beeroth וּבְאֵר֖וֹת H881 וְקִרְיַ֥ת H0 and Kirjathjearim יְעָרִֽים׃ H7157 18 וְלֹ֤א H3808 smote הִכּוּם֙ H5221 And the children בְּנֵ֣י H1121 of Israel יִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל H3478 כִּֽי H3588 had sworn נִשְׁבְּע֤וּ H7650 לָהֶם֙ H0 against the princes הַנְּשִׂיאִֽים׃ H5387 And all the congregation הָֽעֵדָ֖ה H5712 unto them by the LORD בַּֽיהוָ֖ה H3068 God אֱלֹהֵ֣י H430 of Israel יִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל H3478 murmured וַיִּלֹּ֥נוּ H3885 כָל H3605 And all the congregation הָֽעֵדָ֖ה H5712 עַל H5921 against the princes הַנְּשִׂיאִֽים׃ H5387 19 said וַיֹּֽאמְר֤וּ H559 כָל H3605 But all the princes הַנְּשִׂיאִים֙ H5387 אֶל H413 כָּל H3605 unto all the congregation הָ֣עֵדָ֔ה H5712 אֲנַ֙חְנוּ֙ H587 We have sworn נִשְׁבַּ֣עְנוּ H7650 לָהֶ֔ם H0 unto them by the LORD בַּֽיהוָ֖ה H3068 God אֱלֹהֵ֣י H430 of Israel יִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל H3478 וְעַתָּ֕ה H6258 לֹ֥א H3808 now therefore we may נוּכַ֖ל H3201 not touch לִנְגֹּ֥עַ H5060 בָּהֶֽם׃ H0 20 זֹ֛את H2063 This we will do נַֽעֲשֶׂ֥ה H6213 לָהֶ֖ם H0 to them we will even let them live וְהַֽחֲיֵ֣ה H2421 אוֹתָ֑ם H853 וְלֹֽא H3808 יִֽהְיֶ֤ה H1961 עָלֵ֙ינוּ֙ H5921 lest wrath קֶ֔צֶף H7110 עַל H5921 be upon us because of the oath הַשְּׁבוּעָ֖ה H7621 אֲשֶׁר H834 which we sware נִשְׁבַּ֥עְנוּ H7650 לָהֶֽם׃ H0 21 said וַיֹּֽאמְר֧וּ H559 אֲלֵיהֶ֛ם H413 And the princes הַנְּשִׂיאִֽים׃ H5387 unto them Let them live יִֽחְי֑וּ H2421 וַ֠יִּֽהְיוּ H1961 but let them be hewers חֹֽטְבֵ֨י H2404 of wood עֵצִ֤ים H6086 and drawers וְשֹֽׁאֲבֵי H7579 of water מַ֙יִם֙ H4325 לְכָל H3605 unto all the congregation הָ֣עֵדָ֔ה H5712 כַּֽאֲשֶׁ֛ר H834 had promised דִּבְּר֥וּ H1696 לָהֶ֖ם H0 And the princes הַנְּשִׂיאִֽים׃ H5387 22 called וַיִּקְרָ֤א H7121 לָהֶם֙ H0 And Joshua יְהוֹשֻׁ֔עַ H3091 for them and he spake וַיְדַבֵּ֥ר H1696 אֲלֵיהֶ֖ם H413 unto them saying לֵאמֹ֗ר H559 לָמָּה֩ H4100 Wherefore have ye beguiled רִמִּיתֶ֨ם H7411 אֹתָ֜נוּ H853 unto them saying לֵאמֹ֗ר H559 far רְחוֹקִ֨ים H7350 אֲנַ֤חְנוּ H587 מִכֶּם֙ H4480 We are very מְאֹ֔ד H3966 וְאַתֶּ֖ם H859 among בְּקִרְבֵּ֥נוּ H7130 from you when ye dwell יֹֽשְׁבִֽים׃ H3427 23 וְעַתָּ֖ה H6258 Now therefore ye are cursed אֲרוּרִ֣ים H779 אַתֶּ֑ם H859 וְלֹֽא H3808 and there shall none of you be freed יִכָּרֵ֨ת H3772 מִכֶּ֜ם H4480 from being bondmen עֶ֗בֶד H5650 and hewers וְחֹֽטְבֵ֥י H2404 of wood עֵצִ֛ים H6086 and drawers וְשֹֽׁאֲבֵי H7579 of water מַ֖יִם H4325 for the house לְבֵ֥ית H1004 of my God אֱלֹהָֽי׃ H430 24 And they answered וַיַּֽעֲנ֨וּ H6030 אֶת H853 Joshua יְהוֹשֻׁ֜עַ H3091 and said וַיֹּֽאמְר֗וּ H559 כִּי֩ H3588 Because it was certainly הֻגַּ֤ד H5046 Because it was certainly הֻגַּ֤ד H5046 his servant עַבְדּ֔וֹ H5650 אֵת֩ H853 אֲשֶׁ֨ר H834 commanded צִוָּ֜ה H6680 how that the LORD יְהוָ֤ה H3068 thy God אֱלֹהֶ֙יךָ֙ H430 אֶת H853 Moses מֹשֶׁ֣ה H4872 his servant עַבְדּ֔וֹ H5650 to give לָתֵ֤ת H5414 לָכֶם֙ H0 אֶת H853 כָּל H3605 of the land הָאָ֖רֶץ H776 and to destroy וּלְהַשְׁמִ֛יד H8045 אֶת H853 כָּל H3605 all the inhabitants יֹֽשְׁבֵ֥י H3427 of the land הָאָ֖רֶץ H776 because מִפְּנֵיכֶ֔ם H6440 afraid וַנִּירָ֨א H3372 you therefore we were sore מְאֹ֤ד H3966 of our lives לְנַפְשֹׁתֵ֙ינוּ֙ H5315 because
