וַיֹּ֣אמֶר H559 And the bramble הָ֣אָטָ֔ד H329 אֶל H413 unto the trees הָֽעֵצִים֒ H6086 אִ֡ם H518 If in truth בֶּֽאֱמֶ֣ת H571 אַתֶּם֩ H859 ye anoint מֹֽשְׁחִ֨ים H4886 אֹתִ֤י H853 me king לְמֶ֙לֶךְ֙ וּבְתָמִים֙ H8549 Now therefore if ye have done עֲשִׂ֥יתֶם H6213 king וַתַּמְלִ֖יכוּ H4427 אֶת H853 in that ye have made Abimelech אֲבִימֶ֑לֶךְ H40 וְאִם H518 well טוֹבָ֤ה H2896 Now therefore if ye H3027 Now therefore if ye have done עֲשִׂ֥יתֶם H6213 לֽוֹ׃ H0 17 אֲשֶׁר H834 fought נִלְחַ֥ם H3898 For my father אָבִ֖י H1 עֲלֵיכֶ֑ם H5921 for you and adventured וַיַּשְׁלֵ֤ךְ H7993 אֶת H853 his life עַל H5921 stone אֶ֣בֶן H68 upon one אֶחָ֑ת H259 king וַתַּמְלִ֜יכוּ H4427 אֶת H853 and have made Abimelech אֲבִימֶ֤לֶךְ H40 his sons בֶּן H1121 of his maidservant אֲמָתוֹ֙ H519 עַל H5921 over the men בַּֽעֲלֵ֣י H1167 of Shechem שְׁכֶ֔ם H7927 כִּ֥י H3588 because he is your brother אֲחִיכֶ֖ם H251 הֽוּא׃ H1931 19 וְאִם H518 truly בֶּֽאֱמֶ֨ת H571 and sincerely וּבְתָמִ֧ים H8549 If ye then have dealt עֲשִׂיתֶ֛ם H6213 עִם H5973 with Jerubbaal יְרֻבַּ֥עַל H3378 וְעִם H5973 and with his house בֵּית֖וֹ H1004 this day הַיּ֣וֹם H3117 הַזֶּ֑ה H2088 and let him also rejoice וְיִשְׂמַ֥ח H8055 ye in Abimelech בַּֽאֲבִימֶ֔לֶךְ H40 and let him also rejoice וְיִשְׂמַ֥ח H8055 גַּם H1571 ה֖וּא H1931 בָּכֶֽם׃ H0 20 וְאִם H518 אַ֕יִן H369 come out וְתֵצֵ֨א H3318 But if not let fire אֵ֜שׁ H784 Abimelech אֲבִימֶֽלֶךְ׃ H40 21 and fled וַיָּ֣נָס H5127 And Jotham יוֹתָ֔ם H3147 ran away וַיִּבְרַ֖ח H1272 וַיֵּ֣לֶךְ H1980 to Beer בְּאֵ֑רָה H876 and dwelt וַיֵּ֣שֶׁב H3427 שָׁ֔ם H8033 there for fear מִפְּנֵ֖י H6440 of Abimelech אֲבִימֶ֥לֶךְ H40 his brother אָחִֽיו׃ H251 22 had reigned וַיָּ֧שַׂר H7786 When Abimelech אֲבִימֶ֛לֶךְ H40 עַל H5921 over Israel יִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל H3478 three שָׁלֹ֥שׁ H7969 years שָׁנִֽים׃ H8141 23 sent וַיִּשְׁלַ֤ח H7971 Then God אֱלֹהִים֙ H430 spirit ר֣וּחַ H7307 an evil רָעָ֔ה H7451 בֵּ֣ין H996 between Abimelech בַּֽאֲבִימֶֽלֶךְ׃ H40 וּבֵ֖ין H996 and the men בַֽעֲלֵי H1167 of Shechem שְׁכֶ֖ם H7927 dealt treacherously וַיִּבְגְּד֥וּ H898 and the men בַֽעֲלֵי H1167 of Shechem שְׁכֶ֖ם H7927 between Abimelech בַּֽאֲבִימֶֽלֶךְ׃ H40 24 might come לָב֕וֹא H935 That the cruelty חֲמַ֖ס H2555 done to the threescore and ten שִׁבְעִ֣ים H7657 sons בְּנֵֽי H1121 of Jerubbaal יְרֻבָּ֑עַל H3378 and their blood וְדָמָ֗ם H1818 be laid לָשׂ֞וּם H7760 עַל H5921 upon Abimelech שְׁכֶ֜ם H7927 liers in wait מְאָֽרְבִ֗ים H693 עַ֚ל H5921 for him in the top רָאשֵׁ֣י H7218 of the mountains הֶֽהָרִ֔ים H2022 and they robbed וַיִּגְזְל֗וּ H1497 אֵ֛ת H853 כָּל H3605 אֲשֶׁר H834 all that came יַֽעֲבֹ֥ר H5674 עֲלֵיהֶ֖ם H5921 along that way בַּדָּ֑רֶךְ H1870 by them and it was told וַיֻּגַּ֖ד H5046 Abimelech לַֽאֲבִימֶֽלֶךְ׃ H40 26 came וַיָּבֹ֞א H935 And Gaal גַּ֤עַל H1603 the son בֶּן H1121 of Ebed עֶ֙בֶד֙ H5651 with his brethren וְאֶחָ֔יו H251 and went over וַיַּֽעַבְר֖וּ H5674 of Shechem שְׁכֶֽם׃ H7927 put their confidence וַיִּבְטְחוּ H982 ב֖וֹ H0 and the men בַּֽעֲלֵ֥י H1167 of Shechem שְׁכֶֽם׃ H7927 27 And they went out וַיֵּֽצְא֨וּ H3318 into the fields הַשָּׂדֶ֜ה H7704 and gathered וַֽיִּבְצְר֤וּ H1219 אֶת H853 their vineyards כַּרְמֵיהֶם֙ H3754 and trode וַֽיִּדְרְכ֔וּ H1869 the grapes and made וַֽיַּעֲשׂ֖וּ H6213 merry הִלּוּלִ֑ים H1974 and went וַיָּבֹ֙אוּ֙ H935 into the house בֵּ֣ית H1004 of their god אֱֽלֹהֵיהֶ֔ם H430 and did eat וַיֹּֽאכְלוּ֙ H398 and drink וַיִּשְׁתּ֔וּ H8354 and cursed וַֽיְקַלְל֖וּ H7043 אֶת H853 Abimelech אֲבִימֶֽלֶךְ׃ H40 28 said וַיֹּ֣אמֶר׀ H559 And Gaal גַּ֣עַל H1603 him is not he the son בֶן H1121 of Ebed עֶ֗בֶד H7235 thine army צְבָֽאֲךָ֖ H6635 and come out וָצֵֽאָה׃ H3318 30 heard וַיִּשְׁמַ֗ע H8085 And when Zebul זְבֻל֙ H2083 the ruler שַׂר H8269 of the city הָעִ֔יר H5892 אֶת H853 the words דִּבְרֵ֖י H1697 of Gaal גַּ֣עַל H1603 the son בֶּן H1121 of Ebed עָ֑בֶד H5651 was kindled וַיִּ֖חַר H2734 his anger אַפּֽוֹ׃ H639 31 And he sent וַיִּשְׁלַ֧ח H7971 messengers מַלְאָכִ֛ים H4397 אֶל H413 unto Abimelech אֲבִימֶ֖לֶךְ H40 privily בְּתָרְמָ֣ה H8649 saying לֵאמֹ֑ר H559 הִנֵּה֩ H2009 Behold Gaal גַ֨עַל H1603 the son בֶּן H1121 of Ebed עֶ֤בֶד H5651 and his brethren וְאֶחָיו֙ H251 be come בָּאִ֣ים H935 to Shechem שְׁכֶ֔מָה H7927 וְהִנָּ֛ם H2009 and behold they fortify צָרִ֥ים H6696 אֶת H853 the city הָעִ֖יר H5892 עָלֶֽיךָ׃ H5921 32 וְעַתָּה֙ H6258 Now therefore up ק֣וּם H6965 by night לַ֔יְלָה H3915 אַתָּ֖ה H859 thou and the people וְהָעָ֣ם H5971 אֲשֶׁר H834 אִתָּ֑ךְ H854 that is with thee and lie in wait וֶֽאֱרֹ֖ב H693 in the field בַּשָּׂדֶֽה׃ H7704 33 וְהָיָ֤ה H1961 And it shall be that in the morning בַבֹּ֙קֶר֙ H1242 is up כִּזְרֹ֣חַ H2224 as soon as the sun הַשֶּׁ֔מֶשׁ H8121 thou shalt rise early תַּשְׁכִּ֖ים H7925 and set וּפָֽשַׁטְתָּ֣ H6584 עַל H5921 upon the city הָעִ֑יר H5892 וְהִנֵּה H2009 ה֞וּא H1931 and behold when he and the people וְהָעָ֤ם H5971 אֲשֶׁר H834 אִתּוֹ֙ H854 that is with him come out יֹֽצְאִ֣ים H3318 אֵלֶ֔יךָ H413 against thee then mayest thou do וְעָשִׂ֣יתָ H6213 לּ֔וֹ H0 כַּֽאֲשֶׁ֖ר H834 shalt find occasion תִּמְצָ֥א H4672 to them as thou יָדֶֽךָ׃ H3027 34 rose up וַיָּ֧קָם H6965 And Abimelech אֲבִימֶ֛לֶךְ H40 וְכָל H3605 and all the people הָעָ֥ם H5971 אֲשֶׁר H834 עִמּ֖וֹ H5973 that were with him by night לָ֑יְלָה H3915 and they laid wait וַיֶּֽאֶרְב֣וּ H693 עַל H5921 against Shechem שְׁכֶ֔ם H7927 in four אַרְבָּעָ֖ה H702 companies הַשָּׂדֶ֑ה H7704 and they told וַיַּגִּ֖דוּ H5046 Abimelech לַֽאֲבִימֶֽלֶךְ׃ H40 43 And he took וַיִּקַּ֣ח H3947 אֶת H853 and behold the people הָעָם֙ H5971 and divided וַיֶּֽחֱצֵם֙ H2673 them into three לִשְׁלֹשָׁ֣ה H7969 companies רָאשִׁ֔ים H7218 and laid wait וַיֶּֽאֱרֹ֖ב H693 in the field בַּשָּׂדֶ֑ה H7704 and looked וַיַּ֗רְא H7200 וְהִנֵּ֤ה H2009 and behold the people הָעָם֙ H5971 were come forth יֹצֵ֣א H3318 מִן H4480 out of the city הָעִ֔יר H5892 and he rose up וַיָּ֥קָם H6965 עֲלֵיהֶ֖ם H5921 against them and smote וַיַּכֵּֽם׃ H5221 44 And Abimelech וַֽאֲבִימֶ֗לֶךְ H40 and the company הָֽרָאשִׁ֗ים H7218 אֲשֶׁ֣ר H834 עִמּ֔וֹ H5973 ran upon פָּֽשְׁט֛וּ H6584 and stood וַיַּ֣עַמְד֔וּ H5975 in the entering פֶּ֖תַח H6607 of the gate שַׁ֣עַר H8179 of the city הָעִ֑יר H5892 and the two וּשְׁנֵ֣י H8147 and the company הָֽרָאשִׁ֗ים H7218 ran upon פָּֽשְׁט֛וּ H6584 עַֽל H5921 כָּל H3605 אֲשֶׁ֥ר H834 all the people that were in the fields בַּשָּׂדֶ֖ה H7704 and slew וַיַּכּֽוּם׃ H5221 45 And Abimelech וַֽאֲבִימֶ֜לֶךְ H40 fought נִלְחָ֣ם H3898 against the city הָעִ֔יר H5892 כֹּ֚ל H3605 all that day הַיּ֣וֹם H3117 הַה֔וּא H1931 and he took וַיִּלְכֹּד֙ H3920 אֶת H853 against the city הָעִ֔יר H5892 וְאֶת H853 the people הָעָ֥ם H5971 אֲשֶׁר H834 בָּ֖הּ H0 and slew הָרָ֑ג H2026 that was therein and beat down וַיִּתֹּץ֙ H5422 אֶת H853 against the city הָעִ֔יר H5892 and sowed H853 an axe הַקַּרְדֻּמּ֜וֹת H7134 in his hand בְּיָד֗וֹ H3027 and cut down וַיִּכְרֹת֙ H3772 a bough שׂוֹכַ֣ת H7754 from the trees עֵצִ֔ים H6086 and took וַיִּ֨שָּׂאֶ֔הָ H5375 it and laid וַיָּ֖שֶׂם הָעִ֔יר H5892 and thither fled וַיָּנֻ֨סוּ H5127 שָׁ֜מָּה H8033 כָּל H3605 all the men הָֽאֲנָשִׁ֣ים H582 and women וְהַנָּשִׁ֗ים H802 וְכֹל֙ H3605 and all they בַּֽעֲלֵ֣י H1167 of the city הָעִ֔יר H5892 and shut וַֽיִּסְגְּר֖וּ H5462 בַּֽעֲדָ֑ם H1157 it to them and gat them up וַֽיַּעֲל֖וּ H5927 עַל H5921 to the top גַּ֥ג H1406 of the tower הַמִּגְדָּֽל׃ H4026 52 came וַיָּבֹ֤א H935 And Abimelech אֲבִימֶ֙לֶךְ֙ H40 עַד H5704 of the tower הַמִּגְדָּ֖ל H4026 and fought וַיִּלָּ֖חֶם H3898 בּ֑וֹ H0 against it and went hard וַיִּגַּ֛שׁ H5066 עַד H5704 unto the door פֶּ֥תַח H6607 of the tower הַמִּגְדָּ֖ל H4026 to burn לְשָׂרְפ֥וֹ H8313 it with fire בָאֵֽשׁ׃ H784 53 cast וַתַּשְׁלֵ֞ךְ H7993 woman אִשָּׁ֥ה H802 And a certain אַחַ֛ת H259 a piece פֶּ֥לַח H6400 of a millstone רֶ֖כֶב H7393 עַל H5921 head רֹ֣אשׁ H7218 upon Abimelech's אֲבִימֶ֑לֶךְ H40 and all to brake וַתָּ֖רִץ H7533 אֶת H853 his skull גֻּלְגָּלְתּֽוֹ׃ H1538 54 Then he called וַיִּקְרָ֨א H7121 hastily מְהֵרָ֜ה H4120 אֶל H413 him And his young man נַֽעֲר֖וֹ H5288 his armourbearer נֹשֵׂ֣א H5375 כֵלָ֗יו H3627 and said יֹ֥אמְרוּ H559 לוֹ֙ H0 unto him Draw שְׁלֹ֤ף H8025 thy sword חַרְבְּךָ֙ H2719 and he died וַיָּמֹֽת׃ H4191 פֶּן H6435 and said יֹ֥אמְרוּ H559 לִ֖י H0 not of me A woman אִשָּׁ֣ה H802 slew הֲרָגָ֑תְהוּ H2026 thrust him through וַיִּדְקְרֵ֥הוּ H1856 him And his young man נַֽעֲר֖וֹ H5288 and he died וַיָּמֹֽת׃ H4191 55 saw וַיִּרְא֥וּ H7200 And when the men אִ֥ישׁ H376 of Israel יִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל H3478 כִּ֣י H3588 was dead מֵ֣ת H4191 that Abimelech אֲבִימֶ֑לֶךְ H40 וַיֵּֽלְכ֖וּ H1980 And when the men אִ֥ישׁ H376 unto his place לִמְקֹמֽוֹ׃ H4725 56 rendered וַיָּ֣שֶׁב H7725 Thus God אֱלֹהִ֔ים H430 אֵ֖ת H853 the wickedness רָעַ֣ת H7451 of Abimelech אֲבִימֶ֑לֶךְ H40 אֲשֶׁ֤ר H834 which he did
