H2088 אַתָּ֣ה H859 unto me For what dost thou make request מְבַקֵּ֑שׁ H1245 So I prayed וָֽאֶתְפַּלֵּ֔ל H6419 אֶל H413 to the God אֱלֹהֵ֖י H430 of heaven הַשָּׁמָֽיִם׃ H8064 5 And I said וָֽאֹמַ֣ר H559 the king הַמֶּ֣לֶךְ H4428 אִם H518 עַל H5921 the king הַמֶּ֣לֶךְ H4428 If it please ט֔וֹב H2895 וְאִם H518 have found favour יִיטַ֥ב H3190 and if thy servant עַבְדְּךָ֖ H5650 in thy sight לְפָנֶ֑יךָ H6440 אֲשֶׁ֧ר H834 that thou wouldest send תִּשְׁלָחֵ֣נִי H7971 אֶל H413 me unto Judah יְהוּדָ֗ה H3063 אֶל H413 unto the city עִ֛יר H5892 sepulchres קִבְר֥וֹת H6913 of my fathers אֲבֹתַ֖י H1 that I may build וְאֶבְנֶֽנָּה׃ H1129 6 said וַיֹּאמֶר֩ H559 לִ֨י H0 And the king הַמֶּ֙לֶךְ֙ H4428 unto me (the queen וְהַשֵּׁגַ֣ל׀ H7694 also sitting יוֹשֶׁ֣בֶת H3427 by him אֶצְל֗וֹ H681 עַד H5704 מָתַ֛י H4970 יִֽהְיֶ֥ה H1961 For how long shall thy journey מַֽהֲלָכֲךָ֖ H4109 וּמָתַ֣י H4970 be and when wilt thou return תָּשׁ֑וּב H7725 So it pleased וַיִּיטַ֤ב H3190 לִפְנֵֽי H6440 And the king הַמֶּ֙לֶךְ֙ H4428 to send וַיִּשְׁלָחֵ֔נִי H7971 me and I set וָֽאֶתְּנָ֥ה H5414 ל֖וֹ H0 him a time זְמָֽן׃ H2165 7 Moreover I said וָֽאוֹמַר֮ H559 the king הַמֶּ֣לֶךְ H4428 אִם H518 עַל H5921 the king הַמֶּ֣לֶךְ H4428 If it please ט֔וֹב H2895 let letters אִגְּרוֹת֙ H107 be given יִתְּנוּ H5414 לִ֔י H0 עַֽל H5921 me to the governors פַּחֲו֖וֹת H6346 beyond עֵ֣בֶר H5676 the river הַנָּהָ֑ר H5104 אֲשֶׁר֙ H834 that they may convey me over יַֽעֲבִיר֔וּנִי H5674 עַ֥ד H5704 אֲשֶׁר H834 till I come אָב֖וֹא H935 אֶל H413 into Judah יְהוּדָֽה׃ H3063 8 And a letter וְאִגֶּ֡רֶת H107 אֶל H413 unto Asaph אָסָף֩ H623 the keeper שֹׁמֵ֨ר H8104 forest הַפַּרְדֵּ֜ס H6508 אֲשֶׁ֣ר H834 And the king הַמֶּ֔לֶךְ H4428 אֲשֶׁ֣ר H834 granted וַיִּתֶּן H5414 לִ֣י H0 me timber עֵצִ֡ים H6086 to make beams לְ֠קָרוֹת H7136 אֶת H853 for the gates שַֽׁעֲרֵ֨י H8179 of the palace הַבִּירָ֤ה H1002 אֲשֶׁר H834 and for the house וְלַבַּ֖יִת H1004 and for the wall וּלְחוֹמַ֣ת H2346 of the city הָעִ֔יר H5892 and for the house וְלַבַּ֖יִת H1004 אֲשֶׁר H834 that I shall enter into אָב֣וֹא H935 אֵלָ֑יו H413 granted וַיִּתֶּן H5414 לִ֣י H0 And the king הַמֶּ֔לֶךְ H4428 hand כְּיַד H3027 of my God אֱלֹהַ֖י H430 me according to the good הַטּוֹבָ֥ה H2896 עָלָֽי׃ H5921 9 Then I came וָֽאָב֗וֹא H935 אֶֽל H413 to the governors פַּֽחֲווֹת֙ H6346 beyond עֵ֣בֶר H5676 the river הַנָּהָ֔ר H5104 and gave וָֽאֶתְּנָ֣ה H5414 לָהֶ֔ם H0 אֵ֖ת H853 letters אִגְּר֣וֹת H107 Now the king הַמֶּ֔לֶךְ H4428 had sent וַיִּשְׁלַ֤ח H7971 עִמִּי֙ H5973 Now the king הַמֶּ֔לֶךְ H4428 captains שָׂ֥רֵי H8269 of the army חַ֖יִל H2428 and horsemen וּפָֽרָשִֽׁים׃ H6571 10 heard וַיִּשְׁמַ֞ע H8085 When Sanballat סַנְבַלַּ֣ט H5571 the Horonite הַחֹֽרֹנִ֗י H2772 and Tobiah וְטֽוֹבִיָּה֙ H2900 the servant הָעֶ֣בֶד H5650 the Ammonite הָֽעַמֹּנִ֔י H5984 וַיֵּ֥רַע H7489 לָהֶ֖ם H1992 them exceedingly רָעָ֣ה H7451 גְדֹלָ֑ה H1419 אֲשֶׁר H834 that there was come בָּ֥א H935 a man אָדָ֔ם H120 to seek לְבַקֵּ֥שׁ H1245 the welfare טוֹבָ֖ה H2896 of the children לִבְנֵ֥י H1121 of Israel יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃ H3478 11 So I came וָֽאָב֖וֹא H935 אֶל H413 to Jerusalem יְרֽוּשָׁלִָ֑ם H3389 וָֽאֱהִי H1961 שָׁ֖ם H8033 days יָמִ֥ים H3117 and was there three שְׁלֹשָֽׁה׃ H7969 12 And I arose וָֽאָק֣וּם׀ H6965 in the night לַ֗יְלָה H3915 אֲנִי֮ H589 וַֽאֲנָשִׁ֣ים׀ H376 I and some מְעַט֮ H4592 עִמִּי֒ H5973 וְלֹֽא H3808 with me neither told הִגַּ֣דְתִּי H5046 I any man לְאָדָ֔ם H120 מָ֗ה H4100 what my God אֱלֹהַי֙ H430 had put נֹתֵ֣ן H5414 אֶל H413 in my heart לִבִּ֔י H3820 to do לַֽעֲשׂ֖וֹת H6213 at Jerusalem לִירֽוּשָׁלִָ֑ם H3389 neither was there any beast הַבְּהֵמָ֔ה H929 אֵ֣ין H369 עִמִּ֔י H5973 כִּ֚י H3588 אִם H518 neither was there any beast הַבְּהֵמָ֔ה H929 אֲשֶׁ֥ר H834 אֲנִ֖י H589 that I rode upon רֹכֵ֥ב H7392 בָּֽהּ׃ H0 13 And I went out וָאֵֽצְאָ֨ה H3318 and the gates וּשְׁעָרֶ֖יהָ H8179 of the valley הַגַּ֜יא H1516 by night לַ֗יְלָה H3915 וְאֶל H413 even before פְּנֵי֙ H6440 well עֵ֣ין H5869 the dragon הַתַּנִּ֔ין H8577 וְאֶל H413 and the gates וּשְׁעָרֶ֖יהָ H8179 and to the dung הָֽאַשְׁפֹּ֑ת H830 וָֽאֱהִ֨י H1961 and viewed שֹׂבֵ֜ר H7663 the walls בְּחוֹמֹ֤ת H2346 of Jerusalem יְרֽוּשָׁלִַ֙ם֙ H3389 אֲשֶׁר H834 הֵ֣מ׀ H0 which were broken down פְּרוּצִ֔ים H6555 and the gates וּשְׁעָרֶ֖יהָ H8179 thereof were consumed אֻכְּל֥וּ H398 with fire בָאֵֽשׁ׃ H784 14 Then I went on לַֽעֲבֹ֥ר H5674 אֶל H413 to the gate שַׁ֣עַר H8179 of the fountain הָעַ֔יִן H5869 וְאֶל H413 pool בְּרֵכַ֖ת H1295 and to the king's הַמֶּ֑לֶךְ H4428 וְאֵין H369 but there was no place מָק֥וֹם H4725 for the beast לַבְּהֵמָ֖ה H929 Then I went on לַֽעֲבֹ֥ר H5674 תַּחְתָּֽי׃ H8478 15 וָֽאֱהִ֨י H1961 Then went I up עֹלֶ֤ה H5927 by the brook בַנַּ֙חַל֙ H5158 in the night לַ֔יְלָה H3915 וָֽאֱהִ֥י H1961 and viewed שֹׂבֵ֖ר H7663 the wall בַּֽחוֹמָ֑ה H2346 and so returned וָֽאָשֽׁוּב׃ H7725 and entered וָֽאָב֛וֹא H935 by the gate בְּשַׁ֥עַר H8179 of the valley הַגַּ֖יְא H1516 and so returned וָֽאָשֽׁוּב׃ H7725 16 And the rulers וְלַסְּגָנִ֗ים H5461 לֹ֤א H3808 knew יָֽדְעוּ֙ H3045 אָ֣נָה H575 not whither I went הָלַ֔כְתִּי H1980 וּמָ֖ה H4100 אֲנִ֣י H589 or what I did עֹשֵׂ֣ה H6213 it to the Jews וְלַיְּהוּדִ֨ים H3064 nor to the priests וְלַכֹּֽהֲנִ֜ים H3548 nor to the nobles וְלַֽחֹרִ֣ים H2715 And the rulers וְלַסְּגָנִ֗ים H5461 nor to the rest וּלְיֶ֙תֶר֙ H3499 or what I did עֹשֵׂ֣ה H6213 the work הַמְּלָאכָ֔ה H4399 עַד H5704 neither had I as yet כֵּ֖ן H3651 לֹ֥א H3808 told הִגַּֽדְתִּי׃ H5046 17 Then said וָֽאוֹמַ֣ר H559 אֲלֵהֶ֗ם H413 אַתֶּ֤ם H859 I unto them Ye see רֹאִים֙ H7200 the distress הָֽרָעָה֙ H7451 אֲשֶׁ֣ר H834 אֲנַ֣חְנוּ H587 בָ֔הּ H0 אֲשֶׁ֤ר H834 of Jerusalem יְרֽוּשָׁלִַ֔ם H3389 lieth waste חֲרֵבָ֔ה H2720 and the gates וּשְׁעָרֶ֖יהָ H8179 thereof are burned נִצְּת֣וּ H3341 with fire בָאֵ֑שׁ H784 לְכ֗וּ H1980 and let us build up וְנִבְנֶה֙ H1129 אֶת H853 the wall חוֹמַ֣ת H2346 of Jerusalem יְרֽוּשָׁלִַ֔ם H3389 וְלֹֽא H3808 נִהְיֶ֥ה H1961 ע֖וֹד H5750 that we be no more a reproach חֶרְפָּֽה׃ H2781 18 Then I told וָֽאַגִּ֨יד H5046 לָהֶ֜ם H0 אֶת H853 their hands יְדֵיהֶ֖ם H3027 of my God אֱלֹהַ֗י H430 אֲשֶׁר H834 הִיא֙ H1931 for this good לַטּוֹבָֽה׃ H2896 עָלַ֔י H5921 וְאַף H637 words דִּבְרֵ֥י H1697 upon me as also the king's הַמֶּ֖לֶךְ H4428 אֲשֶׁ֣ר H834 that he had spoken וַיֹּֽאמְרוּ֙ H559 לִ֑י H0 that he had spoken וַיֹּֽאמְרוּ֙ H559 Let us rise up נָק֣וּם H6965 and build וּבָנִ֔ינוּ H1129 So they strengthened וַיְחַזְּק֥וּ H2388 their hands יְדֵיהֶ֖ם H3027 for this good לַטּוֹבָֽה׃ H2896 19 heard וַיִּשְׁמַע֩ H8085 But when Sanballat סַנְבַלַּ֨ט H5571 the Horonite הַחֹֽרֹנִ֜י H2772 and Tobiah וְטֹֽבִיָּ֣ה׀ H2900 the servant הָעֶ֣בֶד H5650 the Ammonite הָֽעַמּוֹנִ֗י H5984 and Geshem וְגֶ֙שֶׁם֙ H1654 the Arabian הָֽעַרְבִ֔י H6163 it they laughed us to scorn וַיַּלְעִ֣גוּ H3932 לָ֔נוּ H0 and despised וַיִּבְז֖וּ H959 עָלֵ֑ינוּ H5921 us and said וַיֹּֽאמְר֗וּ H559 מָֽה H4100 What is this thing הַדָּבָ֤ר H1697 הַזֶּה֙ H2088 אֲשֶׁ֣ר H834 אַתֶּ֣ם H859 that ye do עֹשִׂ֔ים H6213 הַעַ֥ל H5921 against the king הַמֶּ֖לֶךְ H4428 אַתֶּ֥ם H859 will ye rebel מֹֽרְדִֽים׃ H4775 20 Then answered וָֽאָשִׁ֨יב H7725 אוֹתָ֜ם H853 דָּבָ֗ר H1697 I them and said וָֽאוֹמַ֤ר H559 לָהֶם֙ H0 unto them The God אֱלֹהֵ֣י H430 of heaven הַשָּׁמַ֔יִם H8064 ה֚וּא H1931 he will prosper יַצְלִ֣יחַֽ H6743 לָ֔נוּ H0 וַֽאֲנַ֥חְנוּ H587 us therefore we his servants עֲבָדָ֖יו H5650 will arise נָק֣וּם H6965 and build וּבָנִ֑ינוּ H1129 וְלָכֶ֗ם H0 אֵֽין H369 but ye have no portion חֵ֧לֶק H2506 nor right וּצְדָקָ֛ה H6666 nor memorial וְזִכָּר֖וֹן H2146 in Jerusalem
