that when Sanballat סַנְבַלַּ֗ט H5571 כִּֽי H3588 אֲנַ֤חְנוּ H587 that we builded בוֹנִים֙ H1129 אֶת H853 the wall הַ֣חוֹמָ֔ה H2346 he was wroth וַיִּ֣חַר H2734 ל֔וֹ H0 indignation וַיִּכְעַ֖ס H3707 and took great הַרְבֵּ֑ה H7235 and mocked וַיַּלְעֵ֖ג H3932 עַל H5921 the Jews הַיְּהוּדִֽים׃ H3064 2 And he spake וַיֹּ֕אמֶר H559 before לִפְנֵ֣י H6440 his brethren אֶחָ֗יו H251 and the army וְחֵיל֙ וַתִּקָּשֵׁ֥ר H7194 כָּל H3605 and all the wall הַֽחוֹמָ֖ה H2346 עַד H5704 unto the half חֶצְיָ֑הּ H2677 וַיְהִ֧י H1961 had a mind לֵ֦ב H3820 thereof for the people לָעָ֖ם H5971 to work לַֽעֲשֽׂוֹת׃ H6213 7 וַיְהִ֣י H1961 כַֽאֲשֶׁ֣ר H834 heard שָׁמַ֣ע H8085 But it came to pass that when Sanballat סַנְבַלַּ֡ט H5571 and Tobiah וְ֠טֽוֹבִיָּה H2900 and the Arabians וְהָֽעַרְבִ֨ים H6163 and the Ammonites וְהָֽעַמֹּנִ֜ים H5984 and the Ashdodites וְהָֽאַשְׁדּוֹדִ֗ים H796 כִּֽי H3588 עָלְתָ֤ה H5927 were made up אֲרוּכָה֙ H724 that the walls לְחֹמ֣וֹת H2346 of Jerusalem יְרֽוּשָׁלִַ֔ם H3389 כִּֽי H3588 began הֵחֵ֥לּוּ H2490 and that the breaches הַפְּרֻצִ֖ים H6555 to be stopped לְהִסָּתֵ֑ם H5640 wroth וַיִּ֥חַר H2734 לָהֶ֖ם H0 then they were very מְאֹֽד׃ H3966 8 And conspired וַיִּקְשְׁר֤וּ H7194 כֻלָּם֙ H3605 all of them together יַחְדָּ֔ו H3162 to come לָב֖וֹא H935 and to fight לְהִלָּחֵ֣ם H3898 against Jerusalem בִּירֽוּשָׁלִָ֑ם H3389 and to hinder וְלַֽעֲשׂ֥וֹת H6213 ל֖וֹ H0 תּוֹעָֽה׃ H8442 9 Nevertheless we made our prayer וַנִּתְפַּלֵּ֖ל H6419 אֶל H413 unto our God אֱלֹהֵ֑ינוּ H430 and set וַנַּֽעֲמִ֨יד H5975 a watch מִשְׁמָ֧ר H4929 עֲלֵיהֶ֛ם H5921 against them day יוֹמָ֥ם H3119 and night וָלַ֖יְלָה H3915 because מִפְּנֵיהֶֽם׃ H6440 10 said וַיֹּ֣אמֶר H559 And Judah יְהוּדָ֗ה H3063 is decayed כָּשַׁל֙ H3782 The strength כֹּ֣חַ H3581 of the bearers of burdens הַסַּבָּ֔ל H5449 rubbish וְהֶֽעָפָ֖ר H6083 and there is much הַרְבֵּ֑ה H7235 וַֽאֲנַ֙חְנוּ֙ H587 לֹ֣א H3808 so that we are not able נוּכַ֔ל H3201 to build לִבְנ֖וֹת H1129 the wall בַּֽחוֹמָֽה׃ H2346 11 said וַיֹּֽאמְר֣וּ H559 And our adversaries צָרֵ֗ינוּ H6862 לֹ֤א H3808 They shall not know יֵֽדְעוּ֙ H3045 וְלֹ֣א H3808 neither see יִרְא֔וּ H7200 עַ֛ד H5704 אֲשֶׁר H834 till we come נָב֥וֹא H935 אֶל H413 among תּוֹכָ֖ם H8432 them and slay וַֽהֲרַגְנ֑וּם H2026 to cease וְהִשְׁבַּ֖תְנוּ H7673 אֶת H853 them and cause the work הַמְּלָאכָֽה׃ H4399 12 וַֽיְהִי֙ H1961 כַּֽאֲשֶׁר H834 came בָּ֣אוּ H935 And it came to pass that when the Jews הַיְּהוּדִ֔ים H3064 which dwelt הַיֹּֽשְׁבִ֖ים H3427 by them אֶצְלָ֑ם H681 they said וַיֹּ֤אמְרוּ H559 לָ֙נוּ֙ H0 unto us ten עֶ֣שֶׂר H6235 times פְּעָמִ֔ים H6471 מִכָּל H3605 From all places הַמְּקֹמ֖וֹת H4725 אֲשֶׁר H834 whence ye shall return תָּשׁ֥וּבוּ H7725 עָלֵֽינוּ׃ H5921 13 I even set וָֽאַעֲמִ֤יד H5975 I in the lower מִֽתַּחְתִּיּ֧וֹת H8482 places לַמָּק֛וֹם H4725 behind מֵאַֽחֲרֵ֥י H310 the wall לַֽחוֹמָ֖ה H2346 and on the higher places בַּצְּחִחִ֑יים H6706 I even set וָֽאַעֲמִ֤יד H5975 אֶת H853 the people הָעָם֙ H5971 after their families לְמִשְׁפָּח֔וֹת H4940 עִם H5973 with their swords חַרְבֹֽתֵיהֶ֛ם H2719 their spears רָמְחֵיהֶ֖ם H7420 and their bows וְקַשְּׁתֹֽתֵיהֶֽם׃ H7198 14 And I looked וָאֵ֣רֶא H7200 and rose up וָֽאָק֗וּם H6965 and said וָֽאֹמַ֞ר H559 אֶל H413 unto the nobles הַֽחֹרִ֤ים H2715 וְאֶל H413 and to the rulers הַסְּגָנִים֙ H5461 וְאֶל H413 and to the rest יֶ֣תֶר H3499 of the people הָעָ֔ם H5971 אַל H408 Be not ye afraid וְהַנּוֹרָא֙ H3372 of them מִפְּנֵיהֶ֑ם H6440 אֶת H853 the Lord אֲדֹנָ֞י H136 which is great הַגָּד֤וֹל H1419 Be not ye afraid וְהַנּוֹרָא֙ H3372 remember זְכֹ֔רוּ H2142 and fight וְהִֽלָּחֲמ֗וּ H3898 עַל H5921 for your brethren אֲחֵיכֶם֙ H251 your sons בְּנֵיכֶ֣ם H1121 and your daughters וּבְנֹֽתֵיכֶ֔ם H1323 your wives נְשֵׁיכֶ֖ם H802 and your houses וּבָֽתֵּיכֶֽם׃ H1004 15 וַיְהִ֞י H1961 כַּֽאֲשֶׁר H834 heard שָׁמְע֤וּ H8085 And it came to pass when our enemies אֽוֹיְבֵ֙ינוּ֙ H341 כִּי H3588 that it was known נ֣וֹדַֽע H3045 לָ֔נוּ H0 had brought וַיָּ֥פֶר H6565 unto us and God הָֽאֱלֹהִ֖ים H430 אֶת H853 their counsel עֲצָתָ֑ם H6098 that we returned וַנָּ֤שָׁוב H7725 כֻּלָּ֙נוּ֙ H3605 אֶל H413 all of us to the wall הַ֣חוֹמָ֔ה H2346 every one אִ֖ישׁ H376 אֶל H413 unto his work מְלַאכְתּֽוֹ׃ H4399 16 וַיְהִ֣י׀ H1961 מִן H4480 And it came to pass from that time הַיּ֣וֹם H3117 הַה֗וּא H1931 and the other half וְחֶצְיָ֗ם H2677 of my servants נְעָרַי֮ H5288 wrought עֹשִׂ֣ים H6213 in the work בַּמְּלָאכָה֒ H4399 and the other half וְחֶצְיָ֗ם H2677 of them held מַֽחֲזִיקִים֙ H2388 both the spears וְהָֽרְמָחִ֣ים H7420 the shields הַמָּֽגִנִּ֔ים H4043 and the bows וְהַקְּשָׁת֖וֹת H7198 and the habergeons וְהַשִּׁרְיֹנִ֑ים H8302 and the rulers וְהַ֨שָּׂרִ֔ים H8269 were behind אַֽחֲרֵ֖י H310 כָּל H3605 all the house בֵּ֥ית H1004 of Judah יְהוּדָֽה׃ H3063 17 They which builded הַבּוֹנִ֧ים H1129 on the wall בַּֽחוֹמָ֛ה H2346 and they that bare וְהַנֹּֽשְׂאִ֥ים H5375 burdens בַּסֶּ֖בֶל H5447 with those that laded עֹֽמְשִׂ֑ים H6006 and with the other וְאַחַ֖ת H259 of his hands יָדוֹ֙ H3027 wrought עֹשֶׂ֣ה H6213 in the work בַמְּלָאכָ֔ה H4399 and with the other וְאַחַ֖ת H259 hand held מַֽחֲזֶ֥קֶת H2388 a weapon הַשָּֽׁלַח׃ H7973 18 For the builders וּבוֹנִ֑ים H1129 every one אִ֥ישׁ H376 had his sword חַרְבּ֛וֹ H2719 girded אֲסוּרִ֥ים H631 עַל H5921 by his side מָתְנָ֖יו H4975 For the builders וּבוֹנִ֑ים H1129 And he that sounded וְהַתּוֹקֵ֥עַ H8628 the trumpet בַּשּׁוֹפָ֖ר H7782 was by me אֶצְלִֽי׃ H681 19 And I said וָֽאֹמַ֞ר H559 אֶל H413 unto the nobles הַֽחֹרִ֤ים H2715 וְאֶל H413 and to the rulers הַסְּגָנִים֙ H5461 וְאֶל H413 and to the rest יֶ֣תֶר H3499 of the people הָעָ֔ם H5971 The work הַמְּלָאכָ֥ה H4399 is great הַרְבֵּ֖ה H7235 and large וּרְחָבָ֑ה H7342 וַֽאֲנַ֗חְנוּ H587 and we are separated נִפְרָדִים֙ H6504 עַל H5921 upon the wall הַ֣חוֹמָ֔ה H2346 far from רְחוֹקִ֖ים H7350 one אִ֥ישׁ H376 another מֵֽאָחִֽיו׃ H251 20 In what place בִּמְק֗וֹם H4725 אֲשֶׁ֤ר H834 therefore ye hear תִּשְׁמְעוּ֙ H8085 אֶת H853 the sound ק֣וֹל H6963 of the trumpet הַשּׁוֹפָ֔ר H7782 שָׁ֖מָּה H8033 resort תִּקָּֽבְצ֣וּ H6908 אֵלֵ֑ינוּ H413 ye thither unto us our God אֱלֹהֵ֖ינוּ H430 shall fight יִלָּ֥חֶם H3898 לָֽנוּ׃ H0 21 וַֽאֲנַ֖חְנוּ H587 So we laboured עֹשִׂ֣ים H6213 in the work בַּמְּלָאכָ֑ה H4399 and half וְחֶצְיָ֗ם H2677 of them held מַֽחֲזִיקִים֙ H2388 the spears בָּֽרְמָחִ֔ים H7420 from the rising מֵֽעֲל֣וֹת H5927 of the morning הַשַּׁ֔חַר H7837 עַ֖ד H5704 appeared צֵ֥את H3318 till the stars הַכּֽוֹכָבִֽים׃ H3556 22 גַּ֣ם H1571 Likewise at the same time בָּעֵ֤ת H6256 הַהִיא֙ H1931 said אָמַ֣רְתִּי H559 I unto the people לָעָ֔ם H5971 Let every one אִ֣ישׁ H376 with his servant וְנַֽעֲר֔וֹ H5288 lodge יָלִ֖ינוּ H3885 within בְּת֣וֹךְ H8432 Jerusalem יְרֽוּשָׁלִָ֑ם H3389 וְהָֽיוּ H1961 לָ֧נוּ H0 that in the night הַלַּ֛יְלָה H3915 they may be a guard מִשְׁמָ֖ר H4929 on the day וְהַיּ֥וֹם H3117 to us and labour מְלָאכָֽה׃ H4399 23 וְאֵ֨ין H369 אֲנִ֜י H589 So neither I nor my brethren וְאַחַ֣י H251 nor my servants וּנְעָרַ֗י H5288 nor the men וְאַנְשֵׁ֤י H582 of the guard הַמִּשְׁמָר֙ H4929 אֲשֶׁ֣ר H834 which followed אַֽחֲרַ֔י H310 אֵין H369 me none of us אֲנַ֥חְנוּ H587 put off פֹֽשְׁטִ֖ים H6584
