Selah. 3 Thou hast taken away all thy wrath: thou hast turned *thyself* from the fierceness of thine anger.* 4 Turn us, O God of our salvation, and cause thine anger toward us to cease. 5 Wilt thou be angry with us for ever? wilt thou draw out thine anger to all generations? 6 Wilt thou not revive us again: that thy people may rejoice in thee? 7 Shew us thy mercy, O LORD, and grant us thy salvation. 8 I will hear what God the LORD will speak: for he will speak peace unto his people, and to his saints: but let them not turn again to folly. 9 Surely his salvation *is* nigh them that fear him; that glory may dwell in our land. 10 Mercy and truth are met together; righteousness and peace have kissed *each other*. 11 Truth shall spring out of the earth; and righteousness shall look down from heaven. 12 Yea, the LORD shall give *that which is* good; and our land shall yield her increase. 13 Righteousness shall go before him; and shall set *us* in the way of his steps. [Psalms 84](/study/psalms/84) [Psalms 86](/study/psalms/86) ## Commentary To verse 1 **Title. A Psalm.** Hebrew *mizmor.* App-65 . **for the sons of Korah.** The eighth of eleven so ascribed. See note on [Psalms 42:0](/kjv/psalms/42/0) , Title, and App-4 . **LORD.** Hebrew *Jehovah.* App-4 . Thy land. Compare connection with "People" ([Psalms 85:2](/kjv/psalms/85/2) ), as in [Deuteronomy 32:43](/kjv/deuteronomy/32/43) . Note "our" in [Psalms 85:12](/kjv/psalms/85/12) . **brought back the captivity** = restored the fortunes, as in [Psalms 126:1](/kjv/psalms/126/1) .[Job 42:10](/kjv/job/42/10) . No reference to the Babylonian captivity, but to the restoration of David's fortunes after Absalom's revolt. **Jacob.** Refers to the natural seed, and to the earthly and material standpoint. See notes on [Genesis 32:28](/kjv/genesis/32/28) ; [Genesis 43:6](/kjv/genesis/43/6) ; [Genesis 45:26](/kjv/genesis/45/26) , [Genesis 45:28](/kjv/genesis/45/28) . ```json {"@context":"https://schema.org","@graph":[{"@type":"WebSite","@id":"https://realbiblebelievers.com/#website","url":"https://realbiblebelievers.com","name":"Real Bible Believers","description":"RBB","publisher":{"@id":"https://realbiblebelievers.com/#/schema/person/e966585dde703268e7f6ae890ea98509"},"potentialAction":[{"@type":"SearchAction","target":"https://realbiblebelievers.com/search?q={search_term_string}","query-input":"required name=search_term_string"}],"inLanguage":"en-US"},{"@type":"ImageObject","@id":"https://realbiblebelievers.com/study/bullingers-companion-bible-notes/psalms/85#primaryimage","inLanguage":"en-US","url":"https://realbiblebelievers.com/_app/immutable/assets/missing.C7wGMEZ6.jpg","contentUrl":"https://realbiblebelievers.com/_app/immutable/assets/missing.C7wGMEZ6.jpg","width":672,"height":448,"caption":"Real Bible Believers"},{"@type":"WebPage","@id":"https://realbiblebelievers.com/study/bullingers-companion-bible-notes/psalms/85#webpage","url":"https://realbiblebelievers.com/study/bullingers-companion-bible-notes/psalms/85","name":"Psalms 85 - Study King James Bible with bullingers companion bible notes","isPartOf":{"@id":"https://realbiblebelievers.com/#website"},"primaryImageOfPage":{"@id":"https://realbiblebelievers.com/study/bullingers-companion-bible-notes/psalms/85#primaryimage"},"author":{"@id":"https://realbiblebelievers.com/#/schema/person/e966585dde703268e7f6ae890ea98509"},"description":"Read Psalms 85 with bullingers companion bible notes commentary. 1 LORD, thou hast been favourable unto thy land: thou hast brought back the captivity of Jacob. 2 Thou hast forgiven the iniquity of thy people, thou hast","breadcrumb":{"@id":"https://realbiblebelievers.com/study/bullingers-companion-bible-notes/psalms/85#breadcrumb"},"inLanguage":"en-US","potentialAction":[{"@type":"ReadAction","target":["https://realbiblebelievers.com/study/bullingers-companion-bible-notes/psalms/85"]}]},{"@type":"BreadcrumbList","@id":"https://realbiblebelievers.com/study/bullingers-companion-bible-notes/psalms/85#breadcrumb","itemListElement":[{"@type":"ListItem","position":1,"item":{"@type":"WebPage","@id":"https://realbiblebelievers.com/","url":"https://realbiblebelievers.com/","name":"Home"}},{"@type":"ListItem","position":2,"item":{"@type":"WebPage","@id":"https://realbiblebelievers.com/study","url":"https://realbiblebelievers.com/study","name":"Study Bible"}},{"@type":"ListItem","position":3,"item":{"@type":"WebPage","@id":"https://realbiblebelievers.com/study/bullingers-companion-bible-notes","url":"https://realbiblebelievers.com/study/bullingers-companion-bible-notes","name":"bullingers companion bible notes"}},{"@type":"ListItem","position":4,"item":{"@type":"WebPage","@id":"https://realbiblebelievers.com/study/bullingers-companion-bible-notes/psalms","url":"https://realbiblebelievers.com/study/bullingers-companion-bible-notes/psalms","name":"Psalms"}},{"@type":"ListItem","position":5,"item":{"@type":"WebPage","@id":"https://realbiblebelievers.com/study/bullingers-companion-bible-notes/psalms/85","url":"https://realbiblebelievers.com/study/bullingers-companion-bible-notes/psalms/85","name":"85"}}]},{"@type":["Person","Organization"],"@id":"https://realbiblebelievers.com/#/schema/person/e966585dde703268e7f6ae890ea98509","image":{"@type":"ImageObject","@id":"https://realbiblebelievers.com/#personlogo","inLanguage":"en-US","url":"https://realbiblebelievers.com/android-chrome-512x512.png","contentUrl":"https://realbiblebelievers.com/android-chrome-512x512.png","width":512,"height":512},"logo":{"@id":"https://realbiblebelievers.com/#personlogo"},"sameAs":["https://twitter.com/RBiblebeliever","https://www.facebook.com/RBibleBelievers"]}]} ```
