I shall not want. 2 He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters.** 3 He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name’s sake. 4 Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou *art* with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me. 5 Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over.* 6 Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the LORD for ever.* [Psalms 22](/study/psalms/22) [Psalms 24](/study/psalms/24) ## Commentary To verse 1 **1.** Christ's relation to His people is often represented by the figure of a shepherd ([John 10:14](/kjv/john/10/14); [Hebrews 13:20](/kjv/hebrews/13/20); [1 Peter 2:25](/kjv/1-peter/2/25); [1 Peter 5:4](/kjv/1-peter/5/4)), and therefore the opinion that He is *the Lord* here so described, and in [Genesis 48:15](/kjv/genesis/48/15); [Psalms 80:1](/kjv/psalms/80/1); [Isaiah 40:11](/kjv/isaiah/40/11), is not without some good reason. ```json {"@context":"https://schema.org","@graph":[{"@type":"WebSite","@id":"https://realbiblebelievers.com/#website","url":"https://realbiblebelievers.com","name":"Real Bible Believers","description":"RBB","publisher":{"@id":"https://realbiblebelievers.com/#/schema/person/e966585dde703268e7f6ae890ea98509"},"potentialAction":[{"@type":"SearchAction","target":"https://realbiblebelievers.com/search?q={search_term_string}","query-input":"required name=search_term_string"}],"inLanguage":"en-US"},{"@type":"ImageObject","@id":"https://realbiblebelievers.com/study/commentary-critical-and-explanatory-on-the-whole-bible/psalms/23#primaryimage","inLanguage":"en-US","url":"https://realbiblebelievers.com/_app/immutable/assets/missing.C7wGMEZ6.jpg","contentUrl":"https://realbiblebelievers.com/_app/immutable/assets/missing.C7wGMEZ6.jpg","width":672,"height":448,"caption":"Real Bible Believers"},{"@type":"WebPage","@id":"https://realbiblebelievers.com/study/commentary-critical-and-explanatory-on-the-whole-bible/psalms/23#webpage","url":"https://realbiblebelievers.com/study/commentary-critical-and-explanatory-on-the-whole-bible/psalms/23","name":"Psalms 23 - Study King James Bible with commentary critical and explanatory on the whole bible","isPartOf":{"@id":"https://realbiblebelievers.com/#website"},"primaryImageOfPage":{"@id":"https://realbiblebelievers.com/study/commentary-critical-and-explanatory-on-the-whole-bible/psalms/23#primaryimage"},"author":{"@id":"https://realbiblebelievers.com/#/schema/person/e966585dde703268e7f6ae890ea98509"},"description":"Read Psalms 23 with commentary critical and explanatory on the whole bible commentary. 1 The LORD is my shepherd;
