[Hebrews 4](/study/hebrews/4) [Hebrews 6](/study/hebrews/6) ## Commentary To verse 1 Having several times spoken of Christ as our High-priest, chap [Hebrews 2:17](/kjv/hebrews/2/17) ; [Hebrews 3:1](/kjv/hebrews/3/1) ; [Hebrews 4:14-15](/kjv/hebrews/4/14-15) ; he now proceeds to unfold at large the idea of his priesthood, chap [Hebrews 5:1-14](/kjv/hebrews/5/1-14) ; [Hebrews 6:1-20](/kjv/hebrews/6/1-20) ; [Hebrews 7:1-28](/kjv/hebrews/7/1-28) ; [Hebrews 8:1-13](/kjv/hebrews/8/1-13) ; [Hebrews 9:1-28](/kjv/hebrews/9/1-28) ; [Hebrews 10:1-18](/kjv/hebrews/10/1-18) , introducing, however, a digression, chap [Hebrews 5:11-14](/kjv/hebrews/5/11-14) ; [Hebrews 6:1-19](/kjv/hebrews/6/1-19) , by way of warning and exhortation. He begins by considering the qualifications and office of the earthly high-priest. He must be taken from among his brethren, that he may be able to sympathize with them, being himself a sharer of their infirmities; and he must be called of God. His office, moreover, is to offer gifts and sacrifices for sin.
