[Psalms 97:1](/kjv/psalms/97/1); [Psalms 99:1](/kjv/psalms/99/1). Better, *Jehovah has become king*: the usual term for ascending the throne ([2 Samuel 15:10](/kjv/2-samuel/15/10); [1 Kings 1:11](/kjv/1-kings/1/11); [1 Kings 1:13](/kjv/1-kings/1/13); [2 Kings 9:13](/kjv/2-kings/9/13)); used in Isaiah of the re-establishment of the State after the Captivity ([Isaiah 24:23](/kjv/isaiah/24/23); [Isaiah 52:7](/kjv/isaiah/52/7)); and by the latest of Israel’s poets, in that prophetic strain which looks beyond time and this world ([Revelation 19:6](/kjv/revelation/19/6)). The robing and girding with the sword were part of the ceremony of inauguration of a monarch’s reign. (See Note, [Psalms 45:3](/kjv/psalms/45/3).) **The Lord is clothed . . .**—These clauses run better: *majesty he has put on: Jehovah has put*(it) *on: with strength has girded himself.* For the same representation of Jehovah as a warrior arranging himself for battle, compare [Isaiah 59:17](/kjv/isaiah/59/17); [Isaiah 63:1](/kjv/isaiah/63/1); or as a monarch robed in splendour, [Psalms 104:1](/kjv/psalms/104/1). **The world also is established.**—This would better begin [Psalms 93:3](/kjv/psalms/93/3). That the earth should be solidly seated in its hidden foundation, is itself a marvel; but this wonder is mentioned only to bring into greater relief the thought of the next verse, that the throne of God, to which the earth is only as a footstool ([Isaiah 66:1](/kjv/isaiah/66/1)), has its foundation firm and everlasting, free from the vicissitudes which beset earthly monarchies. ```json {"@context":"https://schema.org","@graph":[{"@type":"WebSite","@id":"https://realbiblebelievers.com/#website","url":"https://realbiblebelievers.com","name":"Real Bible Believers","description":"RBB","publisher":{"@id":"https://realbiblebelievers.com/#/schema/person/e966585dde703268e7f6ae890ea98509"},"potentialAction":[{"@type":"SearchAction","target":"https://realbiblebelievers.com/search?q={search_term_string}","query-input":"required name=search_term_string"}],"inLanguage":"en-US"},{"@type":"ImageObject","@id":"https://realbiblebelievers.com/study/ellicotts-commentary-for-english-readers/psalms/93#primaryimage","inLanguage":"en-US","url":"https://realbiblebelievers.com/_app/immutable/assets/missing.C7wGMEZ6.jpg","contentUrl":"https://realbiblebelievers.com/_app/immutable/assets/missing.C7wGMEZ6.jpg","width":672,"height":448,"caption":"Real Bible Believers"},{"@type":"WebPage","@id":"https://realbiblebelievers.com/study/ellicotts-commentary-for-english-readers/psalms/93#webpage","url":"https://realbiblebelievers.com/study/ellicotts-commentary-for-english-readers/psalms/93","name":"Psalms 93 - Study King James Bible with ellicotts commentary for english readers","isPartOf":{"@id":"https://realbiblebelievers.com/#website"},"primaryImageOfPage":{"@id":"https://realbiblebelievers.com/study/ellicotts-commentary-for-english-readers/psalms/93#primaryimage"},"author":{"@id":"https://realbiblebelievers.com/#/schema/person/e966585dde703268e7f6ae890ea98509"},"description":"Read Psalms 93 with ellicotts commentary for english readers commentary. 1 The LORD reigneth, he is clothed with majesty; the LORD is clothed with strength, wherewith he hath girded himself: the world also is stablished, that i","breadcrumb":{"@id":"https://realbiblebelievers.com/study/ellicotts-commentary-for-english-readers/psalms/93#breadcrumb"},"inLanguage":"en-US","potentialAction":[{"@type":"ReadAction","target":["https://realbiblebelievers.com/study/ellicotts-commentary-for-english-readers/psalms/93"]}]},{"@type":"BreadcrumbList","@id":"https://realbiblebelievers.com/study/ellicotts-commentary-for-english-readers/psalms/93#breadcrumb","itemListElement":[{"@type":"ListItem","position":1,"item":{"@type":"WebPage","@id":"https://realbiblebelievers.com/","url":"https://realbiblebelievers.com/","name":"Home"}},{"@type":"ListItem","position":2,"item":{"@type":"WebPage","@id":"https://realbiblebelievers.com/study","url":"https://realbiblebelievers.com/study","name":"Study Bible"}},{"@type":"ListItem","position":3,"item":{"@type":"WebPage","@id":"https://realbiblebelievers.com/study/ellicotts-commentary-for-english-readers","url":"https://realbiblebelievers.com/study/ellicotts-commentary-for-english-readers","name":"ellicotts commentary for english readers"}},{"@type":"ListItem","position":4,"item":{"@type":"WebPage","@id":"https://realbiblebelievers.com/study/ellicotts-commentary-for-english-readers/psalms","url":"https://realbiblebelievers.com/study/ellicotts-commentary-for-english-readers/psalms","name":"Psalms"}},{"@type":"ListItem","position":5,"item":{"@type":"WebPage","@id":"https://realbiblebelievers.com/study/ellicotts-commentary-for-english-readers/psalms/93","url":"https://realbiblebelievers.com/study/ellicotts-commentary-for-english-readers/psalms/93","name":"93"}}]},{"@type":["Person","Organization"],"@id":"https://realbiblebelievers.com/#/schema/person/e966585dde703268e7f6ae890ea98509","image":{"@type":"ImageObject","@id":"https://realbiblebelievers.com/#personlogo","inLanguage":"en-US","url":"https://realbiblebelievers.com/android-chrome-512x512.png","contentUrl":"https://realbiblebelievers.com/android-chrome-512x512.png","width":512,"height":512},"logo":{"@id":"https://realbiblebelievers.com/#personlogo"},"sameAs":["https://twitter.com/RBiblebeliever","https://www.facebook.com/RBibleBelievers"]}]} ```
