Selah.* 5 My soul, wait thou only upon God; for my expectation *is* from him. 6 He only *is* my rock and my salvation: *he is* my defence; I shall not be moved. 7 In God *is* my salvation and my glory: the rock of my strength, *and* my refuge, *is* in God. 8 Trust in him at all times; *ye* people, pour out your heart before him: God *is* a refuge for us. [Psalms 61](/study/psalms/61) [Psalms 63](/study/psalms/63) ## Commentary To verse 1 **To Jeduthun,**a famous musician; of whom see [1 Chronicles 9:16](/kjv/1-chronicles/9/16); [1 Chronicles 16:42](/kjv/1-chronicles/16/42). Heb. *upon Jeduthun*; which might be the name of a musical instrument or tune, invented by that Jeduthun, and therefore called by his name. David testifieth his safety and quietness in God, to the discouragement of his enemies, [Psalms 62:1-7](/kjv/psalms/62/1-7), but to the encouragement of the godly, [Psalms 62:8](/kjv/psalms/62/8). No trust to be put in man, or worldly things; but in God, [Psalms 62:9](/kjv/psalms/62/9),[Psalms 62:10](/kjv/psalms/62/10), to whom power, mercy, and justice belong, [Psalms 62:11](/kjv/psalms/62/11),[Psalms 62:12](/kjv/psalms/62/12). **Truly,**or *surely*. This is my certain and fixed resolution. Or, *nevertheless*, as this particle is oft rendered.
