When the LORD shall stretch out his hand, both he that helpeth shall fall, and he that is holpen shall fall down, and they all shall fail together. 4 For thus hath the LORD spoken unto me, Like as the lion and the young lion roaring on his prey, when a multitude of shepherds is called forth against him, *he* will not be afraid of their voice, nor abase himself for the noise of them: so shall the LORD of hosts come down to fight for mount Zion, and for the hill thereof.* 5 As birds flying, so will the LORD of hosts defend Jerusalem; defending also he will deliver *it; and* passing over he will preserve it. 6 ¶ Turn ye unto *him from* whom the children of Israel have deeply revolted. 7 For in that day every man shall cast away his idols of silver, and his idols of gold, which your own hands have made unto you *for* a sin.* 8 ¶ Then shall the Assyrian fall with the sword, not of a mighty man; and the sword, not of a mean man, shall devour him: but he shall flee from the sword, and his young men shall be discomfited.** 9 And he shall pass over to his strong hold for fear, and his princes shall be afraid of the ensign, saith the LORD, whose fire *is* in Zion, and his furnace in Jerusalem.** [Isaiah 30](/study/isaiah/30) [Isaiah 32](/study/isaiah/32) ## Commentary To verse 1 **to them:** [Isaiah 30:1-7](/kjv/isaiah/30/1-7), [Isaiah 36:6](/kjv/isaiah/36/6), [Isaiah 57:9](/kjv/isaiah/57/9), [Ezekiel 17:15](/kjv/ezekiel/17/15), [Hosea 11:5](/kjv/hosea/11/5) **stay on horses:** [Isaiah 30:16](/kjv/isaiah/30/16), [Isaiah 36:9](/kjv/isaiah/36/9), [Deuteronomy 17:16](/kjv/deuteronomy/17/16), [Psalms 20:7](/kjv/psalms/20/7), [Psalms 33:16](/kjv/psalms/33/16), [Psalms 33:17](/kjv/psalms/33/17), the look, [Isaiah 5:12](/kjv/isaiah/5/12), [Isaiah 17:7](/kjv/isaiah/17/7), [Isaiah 17:8](/kjv/isaiah/17/8), [Isaiah 22:11](/kjv/isaiah/22/11), [2 Chronicles 16:7](/kjv/2-chronicles/16/7), [Jeremiah 2:13](/kjv/jeremiah/2/13), [Jeremiah 17:5](/kjv/jeremiah/17/5), [Hosea 14:3](/kjv/hosea/14/3) **neither:** [Isaiah 9:13](/kjv/isaiah/9/13), [Isaiah 64:7](/kjv/isaiah/64/7), [Daniel 9:13](/kjv/daniel/9/13), [Hosea 7:7](/kjv/hosea/7/7), [Hosea 7:13-16](/kjv/hosea/7/13-16), [Amos 5:4-8](/kjv/amos/5/4-8) **Reciprocal:** [Genesis 47:17](/kjv/genesis/47/17) -
