2 So that thou incline thine ear unto wisdom, *and* apply thine heart to understanding; 3 Yea, if thou criest after knowledge, *and* liftest up thy voice for understanding;* 4 If thou seekest her as silver, and searchest for her as *for* hid treasures; 5 Then shalt thou understand the fear of the LORD, and find the knowledge of God. 6 For the LORD giveth wisdom: out of his mouth *cometh* knowledge and understanding. 7 He layeth up sound wisdom for the righteous: *he is* a buckler to them that walk uprightly. 8 He keepeth the paths of judgment, and preserveth the way of his saints. 9 Then shalt thou understand righteousness, and judgment, and equity; *yea*, every good path. 10 ΒΆ When wisdom entereth into thine heart, and knowledge is pleasant unto thy soul; 11 Discretion shall preserve thee, understanding shall keep thee: 12 To deliver thee from the way of the evil *man*, from the man that speaketh froward things; 13 Who leave the paths of uprightness, to walk in the ways of darkness; 14 Who rejoice to do evil, *and* delight in the frowardness of the wicked; 15 Whose ways *are* crooked, and *they* froward in their paths: 16 To deliver thee from the strange woman, *even* from the stranger *which* flattereth with her words; 17 Which forsaketh the guide of her youth, and forgetteth the covenant of her God. 18 For her house inclineth unto death, and her paths unto the dead. 19 None that go unto her return again, neither take they hold of the paths of life. 20 That thou mayest walk in the way of good *men*, and keep the paths of the righteous. 21 For the upright shall dwell in the land, and the perfect shall remain in it. 22 But the wicked shall be cut off from the earth, and the transgressors shall be rooted out of it.* [Proverbs 1](/study/proverbs/1) [Proverbs 3](/study/proverbs/3) ## Commentary To verse 1 **if:** [Proverbs 1:3](/kjv/proverbs/1/3), [Proverbs 4:1](/kjv/proverbs/4/1), [Proverbs 7:1](/kjv/proverbs/7/1), [John 12:47](/kjv/john/12/47), [John 12:48](/kjv/john/12/48), [1 Timothy 1:15](/kjv/1-timothy/1/15) **hide:** [Proverbs 3:1](/kjv/proverbs/3/1), [Proverbs 4:20-22](/kjv/proverbs/4/20-22), [Proverbs 6:21](/kjv/proverbs/6/21), [Deuteronomy 6:6-9](/kjv/deuteronomy/6/6-9), [Job 23:12](/kjv/job/23/12), [Psalms 119:9-11](/kjv/psalms/119/9-11), [Matthew 13:44](/kjv/matthew/13/44), [Luke 2:19](/kjv/luke/2/19), [Luke 2:51](/kjv/luke/2/51), [Luke 9:44](/kjv/luke/9/44) **Reciprocal:** [Leviticus 11:3](/kjv/leviticus/11/3) - cheweth [Deuteronomy 11:19](/kjv/deuteronomy/11/19) - *General* [Deuteronomy 30:13](/kjv/deuteronomy/30/13) - go over the sea [Deuteronomy 33:3](/kjv/deuteronomy/33/3) - shall receive [Joshua 1:8](/kjv/joshua/1/8) - thou shalt [1 Chronicles 28:8](/kjv/1-chronicles/28/8) - keep [1 Chronicles 28:9](/kjv/1-chronicles/28/9) - if thou seek [Nehemiah 8:13](/kjv/nehemiah/8/13) - the second [Job 22:22](/kjv/job/22/22) - receive [Psalms 25:8](/kjv/psalms/25/8) - teach [Psalms 34:11](/kjv/psalms/34/11) - I will [Psalms 119:11](/kjv/psalms/119/11) - Thy word [Psalms 119:66](/kjv/psalms/119/66) - Teach me [Proverbs 1:8](/kjv/proverbs/1/8) - My son [Proverbs 4:21](/kjv/proverbs/4/21) - in the [Proverbs 5:1](/kjv/proverbs/5/1) - attend [Proverbs 18:1](/kjv/proverbs/18/1) - seeketh [Proverbs 19:8](/kjv/proverbs/19/8) - he that keepeth [Proverbs 19:20](/kjv/proverbs/19/20) - receive [Proverbs 23:15](/kjv/proverbs/23/15) - My son [Proverbs 24:14](/kjv/proverbs/24/14) - when [Proverbs 28:7](/kjv/proverbs/28/7) - keepeth [Daniel 12:10](/kjv/daniel/12/10) - but the wise [Hosea 6:3](/kjv/hosea/6/3) - if [Matthew 2:9](/kjv/matthew/2/9) - the star [Matthew 6:33](/kjv/matthew/6/33) - seek [Matthew 13:19](/kjv/matthew/13/19) - and understandeth [Luke 11:36](/kjv/luke/11/36) - the whole [John 5:38](/kjv/john/5/38) - ye have [John 8:32](/kjv/john/8/32) - ye shall [John 17:6](/kjv/john/17/6) - they [John 17:8](/kjv/john/17/8) - received [Acts 8:28](/kjv/acts/8/28) - and sitting [Acts 17:11](/kjv/acts/17/11) - they received [1 Thessalonians 2:11](/kjv/1-thessalonians/2/11) - as [2 Thessalonians 2:10](/kjv/2-thessalonians/2/10) - they received [Hebrews 2:1](/kjv/hebrews/2/1) - the more ```json {"@context":"https://schema.org","@graph":[{"@type":"WebSite","@id":"https://realbiblebelievers.com/#website","url":"https://realbiblebelievers.com","name":"Real Bible Believers","description":"RBB","publisher":{"@id":"https://realbiblebelievers.com/#/schema/person/e966585dde703268e7f6ae890ea98509"},"potentialAction":[{"@type":"SearchAction","target":"https://realbiblebelievers.com/search?q={search_term_string}","query-input":"required name=search_term_string"}],"inLanguage":"en-US"},{"@type":"ImageObject","@id":"https://realbiblebelievers.com/study/treasury-of-scripture-knowledge/proverbs/2#primaryimage","inLanguage":"en-US","url":"https://realbiblebelievers.com/_app/immutable/assets/missing.C7wGMEZ6.jpg","contentUrl":"https://realbiblebelievers.com/_app/immutable/assets/missing.C7wGMEZ6.jpg","width":672,"height":448,"caption":"Real Bible Believers"},{"@type":"WebPage","@id":"https://realbiblebelievers.com/study/treasury-of-scripture-knowledge/proverbs/2#webpage","url":"https://realbiblebelievers.com/study/treasury-of-scripture-knowledge/proverbs/2","name":"Proverbs 2 - Study King James Bible with treasury of scripture knowledge","isPartOf":{"@id":"https://realbiblebelievers.com/#website"},"primaryImageOfPage":{"@id":"https://realbiblebelievers.com/study/treasury-of-scripture-knowledge/proverbs/2#primaryimage"},"author":{"@id":"https://realbiblebelievers.com/#/schema/person/e966585dde703268e7f6ae890ea98509"},"description":"Read Proverbs 2 with treasury of scripture knowledge commentary. 1 My son, if thou wilt receive my words, and hide my commandments with thee;
