let the earth rejoice; let the multitude of isles be glad *thereof*.* 2 Clouds and darkness *are* round about him: righteousness and judgment *are* the habitation of his throne.* 3 A fire goeth before him, and burneth up his enemies round about. 4 His lightnings enlightened the world: the earth saw, and trembled. 5 The hills melted like wax at the presence of the LORD, at the presence of the Lord of the whole earth. 6 The heavens declare his righteousness, and all the people see his glory. 7 Confounded be all they that serve graven images, that boast themselves of idols: worship him, all *ye* gods. 8 Zion heard, and was glad; and the daughters of Judah rejoiced because of thy judgments, O LORD. 9 For thou, LORD, *art* high above all the earth: thou art exalted far above all gods. 10 Ye that love the LORD, hate evil: he preserveth the souls of his saints; he delivereth them out of the hand of the wicked. 11 Light is sown for the righteous, and gladness for the upright in heart. 12 Rejoice in the LORD, ye righteous; and give thanks at the remembrance of his holiness.* [Psalms 96](/study/psalms/96) [Psalms 98](/study/psalms/98) ## Commentary To verse 1 am 3000, bc 1004 **Lord:** [Psalms 93:1](/kjv/psalms/93/1), [Psalms 96:10](/kjv/psalms/96/10), [Psalms 96:11](/kjv/psalms/96/11), [Psalms 99:1](/kjv/psalms/99/1), [Obadiah 1:21](/kjv/obadiah/1/21), [Matthew 3:3](/kjv/matthew/3/3), [Matthew 6:10](/kjv/matthew/6/10), [Matthew 6:13](/kjv/matthew/6/13), [Mark 11:10](/kjv/mark/11/10), [Colossians 1:13](/kjv/colossians/1/13), [Revelation 11:17](/kjv/revelation/11/17) **the earth:** [Psalms 2:11](/kjv/psalms/2/11), [Psalms 98:4-6](/kjv/psalms/98/4-6), [Isaiah 49:13](/kjv/isaiah/49/13), [Luke 2:10](/kjv/luke/2/10), [Luke 2:11](/kjv/luke/2/11) **let the multitude of isles:** Heb. let the many, or great isles, [Genesis 10:5](/kjv/genesis/10/5), [Isaiah 11:11](/kjv/isaiah/11/11), [Isaiah 24:14-16](/kjv/isaiah/24/14-16), [Isaiah 41:5](/kjv/isaiah/41/5), [Isaiah 42:4](/kjv/isaiah/42/4), [Isaiah 42:10-12](/kjv/isaiah/42/10-12), [Isaiah 49:1](/kjv/isaiah/49/1), [Isaiah 51:5](/kjv/isaiah/51/5), [Isaiah 60:9](/kjv/isaiah/60/9), [Isaiah 66:19](/kjv/isaiah/66/19), [Zephaniah 2:11](/kjv/zephaniah/2/11) **Reciprocal:** [Numbers 23:21](/kjv/numbers/23/21) - the shout [1 Kings 1:40](/kjv/1-kings/1/40) - rejoiced [1 Chronicles 16:31](/kjv/1-chronicles/16/31) - let the earth [1 Chronicles 29:11](/kjv/1-chronicles/29/11) - thine is the [Psalms 32:11](/kjv/psalms/32/11) - shout [Psalms 47:8](/kjv/psalms/47/8) - reigneth [Psalms 67:4](/kjv/psalms/67/4) - O let [Psalms 98:7](/kjv/psalms/98/7) - world [Psalms 145:11](/kjv/psalms/145/11) - the glory [Isaiah 24:23](/kjv/isaiah/24/23) - when [Isaiah 52:7](/kjv/isaiah/52/7) - Thy God [Romans 15:10](/kjv/romans/15/10) - *General* [Philippians 3:1](/kjv/philippians/3/1) - rejoice [Revelation 19:6](/kjv/revelation/19/6) - for ```json {"@context":"https://schema.org","@graph":[{"@type":"WebSite","@id":"https://realbiblebelievers.com/#website","url":"https://realbiblebelievers.com","name":"Real Bible Believers","description":"RBB","publisher":{"@id":"https://realbiblebelievers.com/#/schema/person/e966585dde703268e7f6ae890ea98509"},"potentialAction":[{"@type":"SearchAction","target":"https://realbiblebelievers.com/search?q={search_term_string}","query-input":"required name=search_term_string"}],"inLanguage":"en-US"},{"@type":"ImageObject","@id":"https://realbiblebelievers.com/study/treasury-of-scripture-knowledge/psalms/97#primaryimage","inLanguage":"en-US","url":"https://realbiblebelievers.com/_app/immutable/assets/missing.C7wGMEZ6.jpg","contentUrl":"https://realbiblebelievers.com/_app/immutable/assets/missing.C7wGMEZ6.jpg","width":672,"height":448,"caption":"Real Bible Believers"},{"@type":"WebPage","@id":"https://realbiblebelievers.com/study/treasury-of-scripture-knowledge/psalms/97#webpage","url":"https://realbiblebelievers.com/study/treasury-of-scripture-knowledge/psalms/97","name":"Psalms 97 - Study King James Bible with treasury of scripture knowledge","isPartOf":{"@id":"https://realbiblebelievers.com/#website"},"primaryImageOfPage":{"@id":"https://realbiblebelievers.com/study/treasury-of-scripture-knowledge/psalms/97#primaryimage"},"author":{"@id":"https://realbiblebelievers.com/#/schema/person/e966585dde703268e7f6ae890ea98509"},"description":"Read Psalms 97 with treasury of scripture knowledge commentary. 1 The LORD reigneth;
