Lordship salvationists quote the following verse quite often to show that we have not to sin to receive salvation. This verse indicates that if one sins willfully after receiving salvation (the knowledge of the truth), one loses their salvation.

Hebrews 10:26-27 “For if we sin wilfully after that we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remaineth no more sacrifice for sins, But a certain fearful looking for of judgment and fiery indignation, which shall devour the adversaries.”

The book of Hebrews was written to the Jews. However, why would they lose their salvation after Jesus Christ died for their sins (“no more sacrifice for sins”)? That is because the book of Hebrews was written for the Jews in the last days (tribulation).

Hebrews 1:2 “Hath in these last days spoken unto us by his Son, whom he hath appointed heir of all things, by whom also he made the worlds;“

Hebrews 2:5 “For unto the angels hath he not put in subjection the world to come, whereof we speak.”

The saints in the tribulation can lose their salvation even after Jesus Christ shed His blood for them because they had to fight Satan and the minions of hell by maintaining a testimony and potentially losing their lives. In Revelation 6:1-2, the first seal in the tribulation is the Antichrist. These saints had to keep their testimony until martyrdom.

Revelation 12:11 “And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death.”

Christians are in heaven during the tribulation (Revelation 4:2 to Revelation 5:10).

Revelation 5:9-10 “And they sung a new song, saying, Thou art worthy to take the book, and to open the seals thereof: for thou wast slain, and hast redeemed us to God by thy blood out of every kindred, and tongue, and people, and nation; And hast made us unto our God kings and priests: and we shall reign on the earth.”

The tribulation saints had to overcome instead of Christians who God redeemed. The tribulation saints also had to maintain a testimony and be martyred. Christians do not do any works to be saved.
