War in Heaven and Satan Cast Out (Revelation 12:7-10)

Nov 11, 2020

Revelation 12:7-8 And there was war in heaven: Michael and his angels fought against the dragon; and the dragon fought and his angels, And prevailed not; neither was their place found any more in heaven.

Michael was finally able to conquer Satan because God was the one that granted him power. Satan and his beings will be removed from outer space, also known as the second heaven. In the beginning, this second heaven was the one that Lucifer and other angels resided in, and God initially put stars into this firmament and separated it from light. To make it clear, this second heaven is different from the first heaven where God lives. God would never allow even one bit of sin in the first heaven.

Revelation 12:9 And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him.

As we can see Satan’s fallen angels also will fall down with him upon being defeated by Michael, this is where in the future may witness so-called ‘green aliens’ from Mars landing on earth. This is simply referring to the fallen angels because they lost their territory in the second heaven.

A lot of people confused Behemoth as a dinosaur, that is not true. According to the Bible, Behemoth and Leviathan are referring to Satan. There are a few passages and verses that prove so:

Isaiah 27:1 In that day the Lord with his sore and great and strong sword shall punish leviathan the piercing serpent, even leviathan that crooked serpent; and he shall slay the dragon that is in the sea.

Job 40:15,19 Behold now behemoth, which I made with thee; he eateth grass as an ox. He is the chief of the ways of God: he that made him can make his sword to approach unto him.

In Job 40, we can see that Lucifer was once considered as the chief of God. God created him, and God can also use His sword to punish him as mentioned in Isaiah 27.

Revelation 12:10 And I heard a loud voice saying in heaven, Now is come salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of his Christ: for the accuser of our brethren is cast down, which accused them before our God day and night.

When Satan recedes, God takes over the second heaven and establishes His kingdom. Even though Satan recedes, He will not stop and will continue to create spiritual warfare in us!

We cannot live by a day or a moment without praying to God, walking in the Spirit, and putting on the whole armor of God.

Just as how Satan wants to accuse us with absurdity, we also have an advocate, our defender that saves us from God’s wrath, our Lord Jesus Christ.

1 John 2:1 My little children, these things write I unto you, that ye sin not. And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous:

Revelation 12:11 And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death.

This group of people in the tribulation is able to overcome Satan by the blood of the lamb and the word of testimony.

Some hyper dispensationalists may claim that Christians do not need to confess their sins to God because it is automatically justified by Lord Jesus Christ, that is not true. As Christians, we have to repent and confess our sins to God on a daily basis.

Confession is not just found in salvation, but it is also about our fellowship with God. Epistle John has stated that it is also our walk with God that helps us to gain God’s blessings.
