Revelation 14:6 “And I saw another angel fly in the midst of heaven, having the everlasting gospel to preach unto them that dwell on the earth, and to every nation, and kindred, and tongue, and people,”
Notice that this everlasting gospel is preached to non-Jewish, it’s for different nations around the world: Gentiles. This everlasting gospel is for the Gentiles.
The everlasting gospel is not the same as Paul’s Christian gospel
The Jews’ gospel is going to relate to the gospel of the kingdom which was preached throughout all the world at Matthew 24. The language it’s preached in throughout all the world matches with Matthew 24 and Revelation 14 showing that the gospel that’s being preached at the end times is something that matches between Matthew 24 and Revelation 14, but it does not match with Paul’s Christian gospel.
Paul calls it ‘my gospel’ and he mentions the death, burial, and resurrection of Christ. In Revelation 14:6 we see nothing of that sort. In verse 7 we see that their gospel is to fear God and to worship Him. Many Christians today have failed to worship God and failed to fear God as much as we should have.
Because these two gospels (Matthew 24 & Revelation 14) match with each other and they’re also very different from Paul’s church gospel, then this means Revelation 14’s everlasting gospel is for the end times whereas Paul’s gospel is for today, it has nothing to do with tribulation.
Matthew 24’s gospel of the kingdom is for the Jews
Even though we can see the similarity between Matthew 24 and Revelation 14, there is a distinction. Matthew 24 is the gospel of the kingdom and that is preached to Jews when you look at Matthew 4.
Revelation 14 is preached towards Gentiles, to different nations around the world. So we can plainly see that this is the everlasting gospel for the Gentiles whereas the gospel of the kingdom is preached to Jews.
The gospel of the kingdom will be preached throughout all the world according to Matthew 24. Since it’s a Jewish gospel, it’s going to be preached to Jews all around the world. Remember that Jews are a scattered bunch of people and they’re spread throughout all the world. The book of James which is written toward the tribulation, mentions in James 1:1 to the twelve tribes of Israel scattered abroad, so we know that the gospel of the kingdom will be preached to Jews throughout the world. Then, Revelation 14 is a Gentile gospel.
Why would there be an everlasting gospel for Gentiles and then the gospel of the kingdom for the Jews?
The Jews are looking for their Messiah because according to Judaism, Jews have been waiting for their Davidic king, their Messiah, for millenniums, that’s why the gospel of the kingdom is applied to Jews.
The everlasting gospel can apply more toward Gentiles because the Gentiles are under the Antichrist kingdom. You’ll notice at verse 10 that there’s damnation of hell because in verse 9, the people accept the worship of the Antichrist and his mark. So God, in Revelation 14:7, wants them to ignore their Gentile king, the Antichrist, and wants them to worship God Almighty being the true king.
If you notice at the beginning of Revelation 14, we can see the 144,000 Jews are already up in heaven. The 144,000 are supposed to preach and minister throughout all the world, so this means that the gospel of the kingdom is preached throughout the world before the everlasting gospel is preached throughout all the world at Revelation 14:6. So there are 2 things to note here:
1. The gospel of the kingdom is preached at the beginning part of the tribulation
2. It shows that there is an earlier period of the tribulation. This shows that perhaps 3.5 years of the tribulation is too small, that there must be a beginning period of the tribulation. So this could support the fact of the 7 years tribulation.
Babylon is fallen
Revelation 14:8 “And there followed another angel, saying, Babylon is fallen, is fallen, that great city, because she made all nations drink of the wine of the wrath of her fornication.”
Another angel, following the previous angel who was giving the everlasting gospel, is talking about Babylon is fallen.
Now Babylon, we’re going to see later at Revelation 17, it plays a role in the tribulation and Babylon is the Roman Catholic church, it is the Vatican.
The city that rules over all the world, that is religious and that has drunk the blood of martyrs, there’s only one city that you can think of that fits the bill, and that’s the Vatican.
The Roman Catholic church made all nations around the world drink God’s wine of wrath, because you’ll notice in verse 10, ‘the same shall drink of the wine of the wrath of God’. The Roman Catholic church is responsible for making all nations around the world partaking God’s wrath and that is symbolized as God’s wine of wrath.
Notice also that it’s likened to her fornication because she makes a league with all the other nations, she conglomerates with all the other nations, hence metaphorically and spiritually speaking, she is fornicating with them, combining with them. So God’s going to judge all nations who make leagues and dealings with the Roman Catholic church system.
Notice here that it’s past tense: Babylon is fallen. This means that at Revelation 14, remember that the 144,000 got raptured up to heaven and Babylon at verse 8 has already fallen, so we can see that we’re nearing the end of the tribulation here.
