# What’s Wrong with Tongues, Healings, and Visions?

Pastor Kim has had some people who are confused about the vision issue, and they say, “Well, God used it.”

Pastor Kim’s simple answer is this: God can use a demonic Bible like the modern versions to get a person saved. God also used demon-possessed, evil, wicked things to accomplish His purpose. Consider Nebuchadnezzar. He is represented and symbolized as Satan, the Antichrist, but the Lord used him to accomplish His goal at the end.

There are some people whose testimonies, when Pastor Kim hears them, sound like they were legitimately saved. They trusted in the blood of Jesus Christ alone. They were not trusting in their experience. Pastor Kim can take them at their word for it. But just because something contributed something good does not mean that it is automatically good.

There are a lot of people who get into rock music and contemporary music, and they say that these things brought them closer to Jesus. Perhaps they even changed their lives. Pastor Kim will not deny that. But just because something is bad does not mean that God approves of it.

For example, Billy Graham won thousands of souls to salvation. That is a great thing. But does that mean it is okay to compromise with religious leaders so that more people can be won to salvation?

Something good does not make something bad right. Just because something brings a good result does not make it right. The point is: **What does God say?** That is what makes something right.

Pastor Kim says all this because there are a lot of people who depend upon tongues, visions, healings, and all sorts of other signs. This type of people can be very difficult to talk to because they are truly going by faith in what they actually experience rather than the Word of God.

Whenever Pastor Kim mentions what the Bible says, some respond, “You might know all the Bible stuff, but you don’t know what I’ve been through. If you had only been there and seen it, then you’d understand.”

But what does that translate to?

It means that it does not matter how much Bible you know or what the Bible says. They want you to know what they have been through and what they felt. That is showing **faith in their experience rather than the Word of God.**

That is scary.

## How Do We Know These Things Are Not Available Today?

How do we know that these things are not available today?

First, look up every time the Bible mentions the word **tongue**. It is referring to a different language. Look up the word “tongue” in every verse in the Bible.

Second, look at the first mention of a sign. The first mention of a sign was to the Jews. God originally started it for the Jewish people.

>

***[Exodus 4:8-9](/kjv/exodus/4/8-9)**: “And it shall come to pass, if they will not believe thee, neither hearken unto the voice of the first sign, that they will believe the voice of the latter sign. And it shall come to pass, if they will not believe also these two signs, then thou shalt take of the water of the river, and pour it upon the dry land: and the water which thou takest out of the river shall become blood upon the dry land.”*

***[1 Corinthians 1:22](/kjv/1-corinthians/1/22)**: “For the Jews require a sign, and the Greeks seek after wisdom:”*

Jesus Christ also said in

>

***[John 4](/kjv/john/4):**48: “Then said Jesus unto him, Except ye see signs and wonders, ye will not believe.”*

The signs belonged to the apostles. The Bible specifically speaks about the **“signs of an apostle.”**

>

***[2 Corinthians 12:12](/kjv/2-corinthians/12/12)**: “Truly the signs of an apostle were wrought among you in all patience, in signs, and wonders, and mighty deeds.”*

***[Mark 16:17-18](/kjv/mark/16/17-18)** “And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues; They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover.”*

But notice the context. Jesus was speaking to the eleven disciples. The passage says that the signs would follow those that believed, and the context involves the apostles who had a problem with believing.

>

***[Mark 16:14](/kjv/mark/16/14):** “Afterward he appeared unto the eleven as they sat at meat, and upbraided them with their unbelief and hardness of heart, because they believed not them which had seen him after he was risen.”*

Jesus Christ urged them concerning the importance of believing so that they could have the signs.

But if Christians truly participated in these signs and wonders, why would they go to the apostles for healing? They could not do it themselves.

## The Healing Signs Were Fading Away

Another case is found in 1 Timothy. The Bible shows that the healing signs were fading away.

Paul told Timothy to take medicine. He did not heal him.

>

***[1 Timothy 5:23](/kjv/1-timothy/5/23)** “Drink no longer water, but use a little wine for thy stomach’s sake and thine often infirmities.”*

Paul did not simply heal Timothy.

Not only that, the Bible shows in Philippians that Paul was worried about a person in the church who was sick unto death.

>

***[Philippians 2:27](/kjv/philippians/2/27)**: “For indeed he was sick nigh unto death: but God had mercy on him; and not on him only, but on me also, lest I should have sorrow upon sorrow.”*

Why would Paul be worried if he still had unrestricted healing power?

Another case is found in [2 Timothy 4:20](/kjv/2-timothy/4/20). Paul said:

>

**“Erastus abode at Corinth: but Trophimus have I left at Miletum sick.”**

Paul could not heal Trophimus.

But the most convincing point is that Paul, who had all the signs and power, could not heal himself. The healing signs were fading away.

As the later books of the Apostle Paul are read, this becomes extremely evident.

There is more than a thousand years of [church history](/church-history) in which the signs were not being performed in the same manner. The signs had faded away.

## We Walk by Faith, Not by Sight

Another important point is that the Bible says that we walk by faith, not by sight.

>

***[2 Corinthians 5:7](/kjv/2-corinthians/5/7)** “For we walk by faith, not by sight.”*

This is a heart issue.

Pastor Kim wants those who are charismatic to sincerely look at their hearts. Do they truly go by faith and not by sight?

When Pastor Kim talks to some people, they go so much by what they see.

They say, “Oh, if you were only there, you would understand. I saw it.” Or they say, “I saw Jesus.”

But what is that? It is going by what you see.

Healing, speaking in tongues, visions, and similar experiences are all sight-based experiences. But the Bible says:

>

**“For we walk by faith, not by sight.”**

Faith comes by hearing, and hearing comes by the Word of God.

>

***[Romans 10:17](/kjv/romans/10/17)**: “So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.”*

This shows that when someone goes more by sight, that conflicts with the Word of God.

That is troubling.

What is especially troubling is when Pastor Kim mentions verses and people deny them based on their experience. When asked, “What is your scriptural evidence?” there is no scriptural evidence. Instead, they argue against what the Bible says.

That should be scary. This is a heart issue

## Why Would Satan Do This?

Someone might ask, “Why would Satan do it in that manner? Why would visions, healing, and speaking in tongues be wrong if they get me saved? Why would Satan want me to get saved?”

Pastor Kim has talked to people who desperately prayed to God, somebody laid hands on them to heal them, and then they were healed. They say, “You can’t tell me that’s of Satan because I was praying to God about it.”

What they are doing is trying to find spiritual excuses so that they can justify the signs.

But anybody nowadays can find spiritual excuses and spiritual reasons for bad things that they do. Just because someone has a spiritual excuse does not make it right.

Remember, Satan is the greatest deceiver. He mingles the things of God and spiritual things with something wrong.

Someone may say, “Why would I get saved then? That doesn’t make sense to me.”

The simple answer is that God can use wrong things for His glory. But Satan has a different purpose in mind.

He wants people to feel the way they still are right now so that their faith will not be grounded in the Word of God, but more in what they see.

When people go by what they see, there will come a day when the healing will not happen, the vision will not happen. Then they may think that God let them down.

Pastor Kim has seen a lot of Christians become atheists because they did not see miracles happening.

This is important to understand. Satan is not a dummy. He is thinking many steps ahead, even years ahead.

## The Bigger Picture

Throughout all these points, there is no doubt, according to Pastor Kim, that tongues, healings, and visions are no longer available.

They are gone.

We go by the Word of God. That is our practice.

Korean churches that are very infested with this doctrine. What is the harm of all this?

Pastor Kim says the simple harm is that it damned the nation of Korea.

Pastor Kim can say this because he wrote a doctorate paper on this.

The reason Protestant Christianity spread throughout Korea, according to Pastor Kim, is connected to the conditions following the Korean War. During those days, people were in need, poverty, and brokenness.

At that time, what would entice people more than the prosperity gospel and promises of healing, especially when those doctrines matched Korean shamanism?

There is no doubt, according to Pastor Kim, that there is a relationship with shamanism. Yonggi Cho was considered the world’s largest pastor. Even his pastors could not deny the connection. They confessed that the practices they had in their church related to shamanism.

That is why they had prayer mountains.

Korean churches developed somewhat differently from American charismatic churches. American charismatic churches might not see something wrong with those practices, but Korean charismatic churches can show more of it because of Korea’s history with shamanism and Buddhism.

Pastor Kim argues that this cultural background helped make those practices familiar to people.

Pastor Kim also says that Yonggi Cho’s brother was a Buddhist and that he confessed in the newspaper that Buddhism was another way to heaven.

So what is the harm of all this?

Satan is not thinking only about one little life here. He is thinking many steps ahead.

What can he do to justify this movement?

It can affect an entire nation of Korea. But it is not just Korea.

The charismatic movement is one of the fastest-growing movements in Protestant churches. Satan can use that movement in the last days to deceive people.

## Satan’s Ultimate Goal

To close this teaching, look at [Mark 13](/kjv/mark/13).

The bigger picture is important. A lot of people do not look at the big picture. What is this accomplishing?

Pastor Kim connects this with the New World Order and the Antichrist kingdom.

>

***[Mark 13:21-22](/kjv/mark/13/21-22)**: “And then if any man shall say to you, Lo, here is Christ; or lo, he is there; believe him not: For false Christs and false prophets shall rise, and shall shew signs and wonders, to seduce, if it were possible, even the elect.”*

This is a great deception. Even the elect, if it were possible, could be fooled.

Notice what verse 21 says:

>

**“And then if any man shall say to you, Lo, here is Christ; or lo, he is there; believe him not:”**

Someone may say, “I saw Jesus in my bedroom.” Believe it not.

Someone may say, “Jesus Christ is in this room. He healed me. I felt Him, and He touched my hand.” Believe it not.

Someone may say, “When I was in a worship service, I was speaking in tongues and God was right there, and I saw Him.” Believe it not.

This is all bringing us toward the end times.

Why?

Pastor Kim says that those who are charismatic should understand this more than anyone. If they have gone through these experiences, then they understand the feeling of seduction and the stronghold that can come from feeling that something is right.

But we walk by faith, not by sight.

Not by feelings.

Not by the things of the flesh.

It is all faith upon the Word of God.

That is your substance.
