Revelation 17:1 “And there came one of the seven angels which had the seven vials, and talked with me, saying unto me, Come hither; I will shew unto thee the judgment of the great whore that sitteth upon many waters:”
One of these angels who had one of these vials came to talk to John. We’re not really sure if it’s the first one, or the third one, etc.
‘Come here’
The angel is going to show judgment.
This angel calls this being a great whore and she is sitting on many waters.
Whoever this woman is, she is symbolized as a woman who is sitting on waters. That is going to be referring to Babylon.
If she is sitting upon many waters, what are these waters referring to? Later on, in Revelation 17, we will see that these waters are actually referring to people.
While they are referring to people here, some people confuse that with Revelation 13 where the Antichrist comes out of the water. We mentioned before that the water where Antichrist comes out could be referring to the Mediterranean Sea, but people argue that it wouldn’t make sense because the waters are used as a metaphor concerning peoples in Revelation 17. That wouldn’t make sense.
Where does the Antichrist come from?
Revelation 17:1 says sitteth upon many waters because it’s referring to people over here. That is distinguished from Revelation 13, it does not even say waters over here. It’s singular and it says out of the sea. Now there are beings that can actually dwell in the sea. Look at the context at Revelation 12:9, Satan and his minions lost the battle up in heavens, that’s why they descended. At verse 12 it says there are inhabitants of the earth and the sea. There are people who actually dwell not just on a literal earth but on a literal sea. When you look at Revelation 13:1, it says that the Antichrist rises up out of the sea, people can be dwelling in the sea now.
Before in Revelation 12:22 and 13:1, we already mentioned that during the timeline of tribulation, there can be underwater dwellers, not just surface dwellers. The Antichrist is connected with the sea dwellers at Revelation 13:1. When we study this figure, he’s not just a regular man, he is more like a demonic person. He came up out of the sea, this would be the Mediterranean region. Wouldn’t it be easier to just say that it’s referring to many groups of people, and the Antichrist is just coming out living amongst humans?
Chapters 12 and 13 shows that this seems to be more literal here whereas in chapter 17, we know it’s not literal, it’s metaphorical. Why? Because scripture will show you if it’s referring to a figurative or literal way.
If you read later at Revelation 17:15, it explains about the woman and water, that it’s symbolic, and what are the things that they represent. Why say that it’s the Mediterannean sea, why not the Dead Sea? Look at Revelation 13:2, the Antichrist consists of a bear, lion and body of a leopard. This is very Euro-centric. The ethnicity of the Antichrist at Daniel 11 is a Syrian Jew, but his main operation will be more Euro-centric. Which would be the best sea region where he can be born out of, but also have operations in a Euro-centric platform? It’s the Mediterranean region where it connects with Europe as well as the nation of Israel and Syria.
If the Antichrist comes out of the sea, it brings to thought about Revelation 6.
Wasn’t the Antichrist an extra-terrestrial alien?
Revelation 6:1 seems to show that he’s just coming out of nowhere once the seal is loose. If you read chapter 5, the seals that were opened were up in heaven. If the Antichrist comes out of the seal and this comes from above, all of a sudden he just pops out of nowhere at chapter 6 verse 1, he sounds like he’s appearing out of the EFO.
If the Antichrist is the pope, Roman power and God said that Satan’s seat is in Rome. Then as soon as the tribulation starts, a flying saucer hovers over Saint Peter’s Cathedral and it lands. Out comes this massive figure, 13 feet, tall, blond hair, blue eyes etc saying “Peace be unto you” with this bow sign.
The bow means the bow men’s finger because the Antichrist’s weaponry is like a bow. He claims peace but it’s actually destruction.
How does this harmonize with Revelation 13? Bible believers don’t believe that UFO comes from heaven, they come from below, underground. So that’s why he can rise up from the sea, flies out to heaven, and lands on St Peter, that’s the idea.
Back to Revelation 17.
The fornication
Revelation 17:2 “With whom the kings of the earth have committed fornication, and the inhabitants of the earth have been made drunk with the wine of her fornication.”
This woman has such power where she can seduce the kings of the earth. The Bible uses that metaphorical phrase where they commit fornication with her.
The people all over the world were made drunk with (metaphorically) her wine, that’s called fornication.
Let’s have a look at the wine. This wine is actually known as something sexual, fornication. Notice the sexual terms here: fornication, whore, etc. All of this is tied together in this metaphorical phrase for an important symbolic image here.
What we’re going to see here is that these metaphors and symbolism is actually going to be more into a spiritual world, spiritual plane.
Ezekiel 16:25-26 “Thou hast built thy high place at every head of the way, and hast made thy beauty to be abhorred, and hast opened thy feet to every one that passed by, and multiplied thy whoredoms. Thou hast also committed fornication with the Egyptians thy neighbours, great of flesh; and hast increased thy whoredoms, to provoke me to anger.”
In verse 25, the Bible is pointing out that she’s just opening herself to fornication, she’s practically opening herself to anybody that passes by. In verse 26: the Egyptians, verse 27: Philistines, verse 28: Assyrians, verse 29: Canaan and Chaldeans.
This kind of phrase, even though the Lord is not seeing them physically fornicating, He’s seeing them as fornicating in His spiritual eyes.
Back in Revelation 17, in God’s spiritual eyes, He’s seeing this woman committing fornication with all the other nations spiritually.
Some people think that because this matches with Ezekiel 16, that this is referring to Israel. This is not true. For more information, search “Babylon” on Pastor Gene Kim’s Youtube channel.
