Bible believers believe that the King James Bible is the perfect word of God. In the case of Dr. Gene Kim, it is a book that is against the KJV that made him KJV only, Nestle-Aland’s. This particular text presents its reading in a shocking way with some disturbing quotes, those of which will be presented below.
“The text shared by these two additions was adopted internationally by Bible societies and following an agreement between the Vatican and the United Bible societies it has served as the basis for new translations and for revisions made under their supervision.“
This text admits that modern Bibles and their revisions are Roman Catholic, plain and simple.
Other passages admit that KJV has the majority of manuscript evidence or the majority of witnesses. In spite of this, they go with the modern versions that have the minority of witnesses because they claim are older, which is not true. In short, the Sinaiticus and Vaticanus have deliberate additions and tampering in the form of varying degrees of coloration of some pages and different styles of handwriting, both of which suggest that some pages/text are newer than others.
Not only that, when discussing the antiquity of texts, the Syriac Peshitta and Old Latin are two 2nd century manuscripts that often come up. The antiquity of these texts is supported by the people studying the events of those living in the medieval era. Edward F. Hill, a scholar with ties to Harvard and other higher education institutions, pointed out a papyrus manuscript called the Bohairic manuscript which competes with other papyrus manuscripts as well as other 2nd century manuscripts for the oldest manuscript. Funny enough, Alexandrian manuscripts, which are those that originate from Alexandria, Egypt where modern versions stem from, actually support KJV readings rather than modern Bibles.
Another quote from Nestle Aland’s text supports the majority of witnesses, a characteristic we attribute to the KJV. They use the symbol TR, which “indicates readings supported by the majority of all manuscripts always including manuscripts of the Koine type”.
In other words, TR is supported by the majority of witnesses, much like the manuscripts that support the KJV and unlike the Alexandrian modern versions. Another thing is that these TR manuscripts include those of the Koine Greek type, which the scholars support. This begs the question of why scholars support modern versions with two manuscripts to back them up as opposed to the KJB which has multiple supporting manuscripts, some of which are written in Koine Greek. Dishonesty of scholars at its best.
“Finally a word of thanks is due to the scholars who have reviewed and criticized our work, we have learned much from them and we earnestly request they and all our readers will continue to contribute toward the improvement of this edition. That the cause of New Testament scholarship may be advanced”.
Interestingly enough, these scholars do not take the above text in their foreword literally since they cannot in fact take criticism when pointing out corruption in their modern Bibles. The immediate defense is that those accused were not deliberately tampering with God’s word but were possibly confused when translating the original texts. If this is the case, does corruption exist to these scholars seeing as anyone can make a “mistake” when translating the bible and if corruption does not exist then why would Paul make a mention of people perverting the word of God in 2 Corinthians 2? Given their lack of a final authority through a perfect word of God it is no wonder they accept any version of the Bible except the KJV.
2 Corinthians 2:17 “For we are not as many, which corrupt the word of God: but as of sincerity, but as of God, in the sight of God speak we in Christ.”
Paul mentions that there are many who corrupt God’s perfect word, meaning that corrupt Bibles did and still do exist today.
Revelation 22:18-19 “For I testify unto every man that heareth the words of the prophecy of this book, If any man shall add unto these things, God shall add unto him the plagues that are written in this book: And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book.”
John warns about adding or subtracting from the word of God (whether it pertains to the entire bible or just Revelation is irrelevant since it should not be done either way). A perfect example of this is when one compares the Western manuscripts and the Alexandrian manuscripts to Byzantine manuscripts, those of which either added more, subtracted more, or left it as is, respectively. The Byzantine manuscripts are where we get our King James Bible.
Psalm 12:6-7 “The words of the Lord are pure words: as silver tried in a furnace of earth, purified seven times. Thou shalt keep them, O Lord, thou shalt preserve them from this generation for ever.”
Through this verse we can be sure that God will preserve His word forever, meaning that any past, current, or future generation cannot do anything to prevent it.
