Revelation 1:4 John to the seven churches which are in Asia: Grace be unto you, and peace, from him which is, and which was, and which is to come; and from the seven Spirits which are before his throne;

John is speaking to 7 churches. The number 7 is often used because it is a sign of completeness and perfection. We also go by the clock system of 7 days.

Revelation chapters 2 and 3, John spoke to the 7 churches by dividing the number 7 with 4 and 3; or 6 and 1.

4 | 3 or 6 | 1

For example,

  • In the 7 days of creation, God created in the first 6 days, and on the 7th day, He rested.
  • As for the division of 4 and 3, God only created life on the 5th day onward, the first 4 days had nothing to do with life.

According to the biblical timeline, mankind’s history is made up of:

  • 4000B.C (4 millennia)
  • 2000A.D (2 millennia)
  • the 7th representation is when Jesus comes for the second time and reigns over during the millennium (1,000 years) (1)

All these examples show how God works miraculously with the number 7.

When the Bible talks about Asia, it is referring to Asia minor, not Asia major such as China, Japan, Korea, etc. Rather it is close to the timeline where Israel was at including Turkey and other minor regions.

Revelation 4:5 And out of the throne proceeded lightnings and thunderings and voices: and there were seven lamps of fire burning before the throne, which are the seven Spirits of God.

This signifies that the 7 Spirit of God represents the 7 flames on the candlesticks, and the candlesticks symbolize the 7 churches. This is parallel with chapters 2 and 3 where the Holy Spirit is speaking to the churches. So the Spirit is speaking to 7 churches thus 7 Spirits but it’s the Spirit speaking. All this is possible just like how each individual has the Holy Spirit inside you and the Spirit is not bound with a boundary line like us humans.

Revelation 1:5 And from Jesus Christ, who is the faithful witness, and the first begotten of the dead, and the prince of the kings of the earth. Unto him that loved us, and washed us from our sins in his own blood,

Jesus is the faithful witness and is considered the first who was begotten from the dead. There is no other person that died and resurrected and never died again. It is only by his death and crucifixion that we can begin with this born-again process. Besides, Jesus is the Prince over the kings of the earth, and soon every King on earth shall bow down to Him, the one true King of Kings, Lord of Lords.

        Revelation 1:6 And hath made us kings and priests unto God and his Father; to him be glory and dominion for ever and ever. Amen.
