If a pastor comes and tries to heal a person, and if the healing does not work, the number 1 excuse consistently given is that one does not have enough faith. This is heartbreaking and damages people’s lives! This is their loophole, or way out, when healing fails.
That is why we fully deny healings today. We are not denying that God can still heal people miraculously, through prayer. When God is the healer, it can happen. But we deny people as the healer. God no longer uses people to heal anymore; that is only in the book of Acts.
The lie: “You are not healed because you lack faith”
When a pastor tells a person that they are not healed because of a lack of faith, it affects one’s spiritual life and damages them. That is why this Charismatic movement of healing is very, very dangerous and should be avoided. It is better to walk by faith, not by sight!
In those cases, people walk by sight and what they want to see in God’s healing, not by faith. They want to see people walking, blind being able to see, diseases going away…these are all that they want to see! But if that is how a Christian walks, that is how the devil can hurt your life.
We walk by faith, not by sight, it is better to go by faith in the Word of God! These pastors spiritually damage you because you are going by what you see. If the healing fails, how that hurts your spiritual life with God is by causing doubt and putting an unnecessary pressure and burden by convincing yourself to “believe more.”
If healing does not happen for years, people start to waste all their money on healing lines and services. They pray for something and beg for a pastor to heal them, for something that is never even going to happen.
One can be healed despite not having faith
Have they thought about the possibility that it is God’s will not to get healed? There is a major flaw in their claim where they say that one would have to believe in order to get healed. One can still get healed despite lacking in faith!
Mark 6:5-6 “And he could there do no mighty work, save that he laid his hands upon a few sick folk, and healed them. And he marvelled because of their unbelief. And he went round about the villages, teaching.”
Notice that these people were healed, and got healed despite of unbelief! This teaching of having “not enough faith” is not how God works!
How about genuine healing that happens when the Lord does a mighty miracle in an atheist who denies God? That would prove God’s power, wouldn’t it?
This proves that the healing Charismatic movement is really not from God, as it would mean that if some healing did happen, it would not be as mighty, grand, nor foolproof.
A lot of these things are psychological and emotional. Atheists have stunned many healers by showing that these things are a sham and actually something psychological, when a person got healed.
Another important thing to realise is that, if genuine healing did happen, and if it is not from God, where is it from? Scary!
Mark 13:22 “For false Christs and false prophets shall rise, and shall shew signs and wonders, to seduce, if it were possible, even the elect.”
There are false Christs!
Luke 22:50-51 “And one of them smote the servant of the high priest, and cut off his right ear. And Jesus answered and said, Suffer ye thus far. And he touched his ear, and healed him.”
Jesus healed unbelievers
John 18:10 “Then Simon Peter having a sword drew it, and smote the high priest’s servant, and cut off his right ear. The servant’s name was Malchus.”
Notice here, one of the people who was sent from the high priest to arrest Jesus got his ear cut off, and Jesus just healed him! This guy was worse than an atheist, worse than an unbeliever. He was the one who tried to kill Jesus and got Him arrested to be crucified. Talk about a person who is definitely NOT in the faith!
You don’t need any faith and can even be against the faith and still be healed! We have showed so far how people with no faith, and even people against the faith can be healed. Let’s look at another example.
John 9:6-7 “When he had thus spoken, he spat on the ground, and made clay of the spittle, and he anointed the eyes of the blind man with the clay, And said unto him, Go, wash in the pool of Siloam, (which is by interpretation, Sent.) He went his way therefore, and washed, and came seeing.”
Did the verse show that the blind man was waiting for enough faith to do it? NO. Jesus just spat on his eyes and told him to wash and he got healed. This was before the man believed in Jesus! How do we know this?
John 9:25 “He answered and said, Whether he be a sinner or no, I know not: one thing I know, that, whereas I was blind, now I see.”
The man did not even know if Jesus who healed him was a sinner or not! He did not yet believe in Jesus at the point of healing.
John 9:35 “Jesus heard that they had cast him out; and when he had found him, he said unto him, Dost thou believe on the Son of God?”
This question was asked if the man believed on the Son of God, AFTER Jesus healed him!
John 9:36 “He answered and said, Who is he, Lord, that I might believe on him? And Jesus said unto him, Thou hast both seen him, and it is he that talketh with thee. And he said, Lord, I believe. And he worshipped him.”
This is getting worse for the Charismatics. In this scripture, we have a man who got healed even before believing. Crazy, huh?
I have seen cases where people give their money to all these tele-evangelists and preachers so that God would heal them. They had been waiting for years of healing, but they never got healed. It is disgusting and upsetting.
It may not always be the will of God to heal
It is important to realise that there are times where the Lord may not want one to be healed. The apostle Paul was a person who actually did the healing miracles for God. Yet, this healer, who did mighty miracles and healings, realised that he could not even heal himself. This was at a time later on in the ministry when healing signs were fading. That’s why we don’t believe healing signs are available today. All the apostle Paul could do at this point was to rejoice in the Lord and trust that his sickness could be used for God’s glory. That’s important for you to realise, and if you don’t have this in your heart, you will be miserable and have a false hope when nothing happens.
2 Corinthians 12:7-9 “And lest I should be exalted above measure through the abundance of the revelations, there was given to me a thorn in the flesh, the messenger of Satan to buffet me, lest I should be exalted above measure. For this thing I besought the Lord thrice, that it might depart from me. And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.”
This is an important passage that we should all memorise. It can be life-changing and helpful to you. The pain can be there to actually benefit you. We don’t know it now, but in the future we will.
There was a woman named Joni Eareckson who was caught up in the healing movement. She had someone trying to heal her, but guess what, she never got healed. Did she go into utter despair and then got miserable after that? No! Instead, she accepted her disease as a quadriplegic, where she could not move her hands nor legs! She took up drawing instruments in her mouth and painted spectacular pictures with her mouth. They even made a movie about her which I would encourage all to watch. The Lord used that testimony to help many who were suffering. Even non-Christians were converted because of her life testimony.
This should be enough to prove that one should not go by this healing movement, it is better for one to go by the Word of God instead!
