What are the ways to pray? How do we pray? A lot of people do not know how to pray.
Pastor Kim’s recommendation is this: number one is that you want to go to the playlist called “School of Prayer.” The very first video you will click on will show you underlying conditions to better your prayer, basically the tips on prayer. First off, you want to start out with prayer tips.
In Pastor Kim’s church, there is a prayer sheet. In the prayer tips, it gives you all the good stuff over there. You need to pray according to faith. For example, you need to pray according to God’s will. You need to mention His Word and remind Him that is what His Word says, the covenant of His Book.
You also have to make sure that you want to pray for the filling of the Spirit. Most important, otherwise He will not hear your prayer to begin with, is asking for forgiveness of sins.
This is very important. You want to start out your prayer that way. That way, the rest of the prayer requests you give to Him can be filled with the Spirit.
Pray for Lost Souls
The second thing is you want to pray for lost souls. That is why in the prayer sheet there is a list concerning lost souls getting saved. Is that biblical?
John 4:34-38: “Jesus saith unto them, My meat is to do the will of him that sent me, and to finish his work. Say not ye, There are yet four months, and then cometh harvest? behold, I say unto you, Lift up your eyes, and look on the fields; for they are white already to harvest. And he that reapeth receiveth wages, and gathereth fruit unto life eternal: that both he that soweth and he that reapeth may rejoice together. And herein is that saying true, One soweth, and another reapeth. I sent you to reap that whereon ye bestowed no labour: other men laboured, and ye are entered into their labours.”
If you look at other portions in your Bible where Jesus talks about the harvest, “The harvest truly is plenteous, but the labourers are few.” He actually mentions this “Pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he will send forth labourers into his harvest.”
So it is demanded in prayer where you beseech God that He would send in more souls getting saved.
Pray for the Needs of Christians
The next thing that you want to pray for concerns the needs of Christians. You want to pray about the needs of believers.
Philippians 4:6-7: “Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.”
Every one of us has a supplication. We have a need. That is something that you have to give the request to the Lord. The next thing that you want to do is very important, and a lot of people do not do this: you need to give thanksgiving.
Why? Why would the Father answer your next prayer if you did not thank Him for the other one? That is selfishness.
It is important that in prayer diaries, when the prayer request is answered, you mark it down. Cross it out. Do not just leave it. Cross it out and make sure you thank the Lord for it. That is important to do.
Philippians 4:6: “Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.”
Prayer should come with thanksgiving.
Everything you are supposed to give thanks because that is God’s will. Give thanks. You need to give thanks to Him. That is important in prayer.
1 Thessalonians 5:17-18: “Pray without ceasing. In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.”
That is important to understand.
Pray for Health
The next thing that you want to pray for is health.
There are a lot of people who have bad health, especially in these times that we are going through. We are being super careful with our health because they just dub anything COVID-19 nowadays. Pastor Kim appreciates this church praying for his health.
James 5:14-15: “Is any sick among you? let him call for the elders of the church; and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord: And the prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up; and if he have committed sins, they shall be forgiven him.”
Notice over here that the church is called upon, and then they pray for him.
As a matter of fact, there are two sides of Bible-believing preachers. One believes that this is applicable solely to the Tribulation, but then there is another group of Bible believers who believe in double application. They believe, yes, this applies to the Tribulation, but this can also apply since it says “church” to the Christian church.
Pray for the Ministry
The next one you should be praying for, which is very important, is the ministry. You have to pray for your missionary. You have to pray for your church. You have to pray for your local church leader.
Why? Because the devil is attacking them.
Because of that, it is very important that you pray for them. Once the devil attacks that leader, who is going to take care of your church service? Who is going to help guide and lead the process?
If there is anybody who should be the least getting attacked, it should be the minister, so that the minister can keep the church going.
That is why it is very important to pray for your ministers.
Romans 15:29-30: “And I am sure that, when I come unto you, I shall come in the fulness of the blessing of the gospel of Christ. Now I beseech you, brethren, for the Lord Jesus Christ’s sake, and for the love of the Spirit, that ye strive together with me in your prayers to God for me;”
Why?
So he is coming with the blessing to preach to his people. He says, “Strive in your prayers together for me,” so that he can give you the blessing.
