Licence to sin? Absolutely not!

Hebrews 11:25 “Choosing rather to suffer affliction with the people of God, than to enjoy the pleasures of sin for a season;”

Sin is pleasurable for a season. But after committing the sin, don’t you feel rotten and have spent all that joy on the rush of the moment? What good did it do? That’s why one keeps going back to it.

This verse tells us that suffering is better than the pleasure of sin. People don’t like suffering, but if one chose to suffer for Christ, this is preferable. Thank God for your suffering! Praise God for being at the worst for Jesus than to be in sin, because the best of sin is always just that one moment.

Galatians 6:7-8Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap. For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting.”

One reaps what one sows.

Isaiah 57:21 “There is no peace, saith my God, to the wicked.”

Living in sin does not give peace. One would have to live everyday worrying about the situation, not being able to pray about it because of unrepented sin.

Hebrews 12:6-7For whom the Lord loveth he chasteneth, and scourgeth every son whom he receiveth. If ye endure chastening, God dealeth with you as with sons; for what son is he whom the father chasteneth not?”

God brings chastisement through scourging! Scourging is like getting a whip of the belt. It is a painful process. If scourging does not stop one’s sin, God will end the person’s life.

1 Corinthians 11:30-31For this cause many are weak and sickly among you, and many sleep. For if we would judge ourselves, we should not be judged.”

God will end one’s life or make one sick!

1 Corinthians 3:17 “If any man defile the temple of God, him shall God destroy; for the temple of God is holy, which temple ye are.”

God is also going to send destruction. Why is one’s marriage, job, or ministry getting destroyed? Think about it.

1 Corinthians 5:5 “To deliver such an one unto Satan for the destruction of the flesh, that the spirit may be saved in the day of the Lord Jesus.”

One can also get turned over to Satan and be demon possessed! Satan has the freedom to do whatever he wants to do with one’s body. This person’s spirit is saved, but his body is under Satan’s control! Would one prefer God or the devil to be in charge of your life? It is worse being turned over to Satan! If God gave the devil full freedom to do whatever he wanted, it would be much worse that what Job went through, which was within permissive boundaries.

2 Corinthians 5:10-11 “For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ; that every one may receive the things done in his body, according to that he hath done, whether it be good or bad. Knowing therefore the terror of the Lord, we persuade men; but we are made manifest unto God; and I trust also are made manifest in your consciences.”

At the Judgment Seat of Christ, God called it terror! He really means that. We don’t know what is this “terror of the Lord”, but it will be scary.

God calls hell “wrath of God”. Terror may not be hell but being at the Judgment Seat of Christ is terror.

Licence to sin? We shall see when we get to the Judgment Seat of Christ…
