Revelation 21:6 And he said unto me, It is done. I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end. I will give unto him that is athirst of the fountain of the water of life freely.

I will give unto him that is athirst of the fountain of the water of life freely.

This fountain of the water of life is something that God gives for free in heaven. In Revelation 7:17, the verse mentions ‘living fountains of waters’ which means there is not just 1 fountain in heaven.

This is different as compared to the tree of life, which is not given freely as mentioned in Revelation 22.

Revelation 22:14 Blessed are they that do his commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city.

The passage shows that it requires works and obeying God’s commandments to acquire the tree of life.

The tree of life

Genesis 2:16 And the Lord God commanded the man, saying, Of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat:

A long time ago, this tree of life used to be freely eaten until Eve and Adam sinned against God by eating the forbidden fruit, so God had to take that privilege away from men. Mankind did not have to even work to eat fruits of the earth back then.

Genesis 3:2 And the woman said unto the serpent, We may eat of the fruit of the trees of the garden:

Eve dropped an important word in the above verse. It was “freely” eat.

It used to be free, but during the millennium, the saints would have to work and put in a lot of effort in order to get the rights to access the tree of life.

This doesn’t even apply to us Christians because no works are required of us to be saved, we are saved by God’s grace instead, which is given to us. So the water of life is applicable to us.

The below verses clearly support this application.

John 4:10,13-14 Jesus answered and said unto her, If thou knewest the gift of God, and who it is that saith to thee, Give me to drink; thou wouldest have asked of him, and he would have given thee living water. Jesus answered and said unto her, Whosoever drinketh of this water shall thirst again: But whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life.

This is Jesus Christ talking and He says that if anyone receives this water, they shall be saved. This comes to show how lucky we Christians are during this age. That’s what we’re supposed to do. Let’s go tell people how to get this water of life for free.

Revelation 21:7 He that overcometh shall inherit all things; and I will be his God, and he shall be my son.

He that overcometh shall inherit all things

‘all things’ shows that we will inherit all of God’s creation, including the new heaven and new earth, not just the new Jerusalem. Just imagine we have a mansion in new Jerusalem and we will be able to travel in between planets and across the whole of the universe to carry out God’s duty.

‘I will be his God’

There are two applications. There is a Christian application and a tribulation application. Let’s first look at the Christian application.

1 John 5:4-5 For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith. Who is he that overcometh the world, but he that believeth that Jesus is the Son of God?

Who is he that overcometh the world, but he that believeth that Jesus is the Son of God?

This clearly matches with our salvation plan. God’s promises for us Christians is salvation by faith, we are 100% qualified by faith alone.

The second category or application is for the tribulation saints, not us Christians, and it is work-based.

Revelation 3:4-5 Thou hast a few names even in Sardis which have not defiled their garments; and they shall walk with me in white: for they are worthy. He that overcometh, the same shall be clothed in white raiment; and I will not blot out his name out of the book of life, but I will confess his name before my Father, and before his angels.

walk with me in white: for they are worthy

That is clearly works-based and not faith.

There are people who deny dispensational salvation and because of that, they deny tribulation salvation. The Bible clearly separates the qualification and requirement for different groups of people across different timelines, we just need to rightly divide.
