Mormons have a weird system of polygamy. Joseph Smith, the founder of Mormonism, was a pervert — if one reads about his life story, it’s atrocious. The following verses given will show that polygamy is condemned in the Bible.
The Bible on “One Wife”
Mormons will try to argue that Abraham had more than one wife, King David had multiple wives, and that many different characters in the Bible had many wives. They would go so far as to say that Jesus had multiple wives, and not only that, even God somewhere out in outer space had scores of wives. It is blasphemy and is false.
In the Old Testament, they had multiple wives, but today, in the New Testament, God says that we are not to have multiple wives in 1 Timothy chapter 3.
1 Timothy 3:2 (KJV) — “A bishop then must be blameless, the husband of one wife, vigilant, sober, of good behaviour, given to hospitality, apt to teach.”
A bishop then must be blameless, the husband of one wife. It specifically said one wife, so it condemns polygamy.
If a Mormon argues this is just talking about pastors and church leaders, that makes it worse, because Joseph Smith violated that. Isn’t Joseph Smith supposed to be their prophet, their pastor, their biggest church leader — and he violated a simple rule for church leaders? Verse 12 said even deacons (lower level than pastors) must have only one wife.
1 Timothy 3:12 — “Let the deacons be the husbands of one wife, ruling their children and their own houses well.”
Titus chapter 1 repeats the same teaching about elders. Mormons call their leaders — elders. Aren’t they supposed to be expecting a bunch of wives up in heaven? That’s why they’re knocking on doors?
Titus 1:5-6 — “For this cause left I thee in Crete, that thou shouldest set in order the things that are wanting, and ordain elders in every city, as I had appointed thee: If any be blameless, the husband of one wife, having faithful children not accused of riot or unruly.”
Romans chapter 7 also condemns more than one wife; it condemns more than one marriage.
Romans 7:1 – “Know ye not, brethren, (for I speak to them that know the law,) how that the law hath dominion over a man as long as he liveth?”
Notice how the law has dominion over the man in this area.
Romans 7:2 — “For the woman which hath an husband is bound by the law to her husband so long as he liveth; but if the husband be dead, she is loosed from the law of her husband.”
Romans 7:3 — “So then if, while her husband liveth, she be married to another man, she shall be called an adulteress: but if her husband be dead, she is free from that law; so that she is no adulteress, though she be married to another man.”
Verse 3 condemns marrying more than one person; verse 2 says one is only loosed from that marriage when the spouse passes away.
Mormons might argue verses 2 and 3 are talking about women — that they can’t marry more than one person, but it is okay for men to have multiple wives. The easy debunking is in verse 1: it didn’t say woman, it said man, so this is a universal passage, just giving the woman as an example.
Multiple Wives in Heaven
The claim that people will have multiple wives up in heaven is nonsense. The following quotes were from the Book of Mormon itself, which condemns polygamy and calls it whoredom.
The Book of Mormon, Jacob 2:24-28 “Behold, David and Solomon truly had many wives and concubines, which thing was abominable before me, saith the Lord… For there shall not any man among you have save it be one wife, and concubines he shall have none; for I, the Lord God, delight in the chastity of women, and whoredoms are an abomination before me.”
The Book of Mormon, Ether 10: 5 : “And it came to pass that Riplakish did not do that which was right in the sight of the Lord, for he did have many wives and concubines, and did lay that upon men’s shoulders which was grievous to be borne.”
So, Pastor Kim said, their own Book of Mormon condemns it — not the Bible.
Returning to the teaching that in heaven, one has multiple wives, and whether God has multiple wives, Matthew 22:29-30 shows it clearly.
Matthew 22:29-30 — “Jesus answered and said unto them, Ye do err, not knowing the scriptures, nor the power of God. For in the resurrection they neither marry, nor are given in marriage, but are as the angels of God in heaven.”
So, this shows heavenly beings up in heaven are not married — those who go to heaven are not married — so the Bible condemns polygamy, and in heaven there is no such thing as marriage at all.
Pastor Kim compared this to a Muslim teaching about having multiple wives after death, noting how uncanny the parallel is when studying the lives of Joseph Smith and Muhammad — they go hand in hand.
Both claimed to be the greatest of the prophets, both produced their own book, their own Bible, and both believed in having multiple wives up in heaven — it is a sign of strange, evil fruit: birds of a feather flock together.
