Salvation is by faith
James 2:24 “Ye see then how that by works a man is justified, and not by faith only.”
There is a difference between Jews and the church. The book of James is written for Jews, not Christians.
James 1:1 “James, a servant of God and of the Lord Jesus Christ, to the twelve tribes which are scattered abroad, greeting.”
The rest of the book of James also has a tribulation flavor to it.
James 5:3 “Your gold and silver is cankered; and the rust of them shall be a witness against you, and shall eat your flesh as it were fire. Ye have heaped treasure together for the last days.”
Baptism
Another wrong doctrine that arises from not using dispensationalism is baptism.
Acts 2:38 “Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.”
The promise is to Jews, as we can see from the same chapter.
Acts 2:36, 39 “Therefore let all the house of Israel know assuredly, that God hath made the same Jesus, whom ye have crucified, both Lord and Christ. For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call.”
Tribulation
Christians will not go through the tribulation, but many Christians are unable to see this because they do not rightly divide the word of God.
Daniel 9:27 “And he shall confirm the covenant with many for one week: and in the midst of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease, and for the overspreading of abominations he shall make it desolate, even until the consummation, and that determined shall be poured upon the desolate.”
“He” refers to the antichrist. “One week” refers to seven years. This is the only verse in the whole Bible that tells us that the tribulation lasts for one week or seven years. The antichrist ruins the Jewish sacrifices.
This last one week is a part of the seventy weeks that Daniel prophesies about. In the same chapter, Daniel says who this prophecy is addressed to “thy people” and “thy holy city.” These are the Jews and Jerusalem, not Christians.
Daniel 9:16 “O Lord, according to all thy righteousness, I beseech thee, let thine anger and thy fury be turned away from thy city Jerusalem, thy holy mountain: because for our sins, and for the iniquities of our fathers, Jerusalem and thy people are become a reproach to all that are about us.”
Sabbath and dietary laws
God commanded people to keep the Sabbath day holy.
Exodus 20:8-10 “Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy. Six days shalt thou labour, and do all thy work: But the seventh day is the sabbath of the Lord thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates:”
However, this commandment was addressed to the Jews, not Christians.
Exodus 20:1 “And God spake all these words, saying, I am the Lord thy God, which have brought thee out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage.”
Signs: tongues, visions, and healings
Many churches believe that the above is still active in the church today. Once again, these apply to the Jews. The Jews require a sign because they need outward proof of God.
1 Corinthians 1:22 “For the Jews require a sign, and the Greeks seek after wisdom:”
