לִבְנִֽי׃

As they called

קָרְא֖וּ

 

לָהֶ֑ם

them so they went

הָלְכ֣וּ

from them

מִפְּנֵיהֶ֔ם

unto Baalim

לַבְּעָלִ֣ים

they sacrificed

יְזַבֵּ֔חוּ

to graven images

וְלַפְּסִלִ֖ים

and burned incense

יְקַטֵּרֽוּן׃

 

וְאָנֹכִ֤י

I taught

תִרְגַּ֙לְתִּי֙

Ephraim

לְאֶפְרַ֔יִם

taking

קָחָ֖ם

 

עַל

them by their arms

זְרֽוֹעֹתָ֑יו

 

וְלֹ֥א

but they knew

יָדְע֖וּ

 

כִּ֥י

not that I healed

רְפָאתִֽים׃

them with cords

בְּחַבְלֵ֨י

of a man

אָדָ֤ם

I drew

אֶמְשְׁכֵם֙

with bands

בַּעֲבֹת֣וֹת

of love

אַהֲבָ֔ה

 

וָאֶהְיֶ֥ה

 

לָהֶ֛ם

and I was to them as they that take off

כִּמְרִ֥ימֵי

the yoke

עֹ֖ל

 

עַ֣ל

on their jaws

לְחֵיהֶ֑ם

 

וְאַ֥ט

 

אֵלָ֖יו

meat

אוֹכִֽיל׃

 

לֹ֤א

He shall not return

לָשֽׁוּב׃

 

אֶל

into the land

אֶ֣רֶץ

of Egypt

מִצְרַ֔יִם

but the Assyrian

וְאַשּׁ֖וּר

 

ה֣וּא

shall be his king

מַלְכּ֑וֹ

 

כִּ֥י

because they refused

מֵאֲנ֖וּ

He shall not return

לָשֽׁוּב׃

shall abide

וְחָלָ֥ה

And the sword

חֶ֙רֶב֙

on his cities

בְּעָרָ֔יו

and shall consume

וְכִלְּתָ֥ה

his branches

בַדָּ֖יו

and devour

וְאָכָ֑לָה

them because of their own counsels

מִֽמֹּעֲצ֖וֹתֵיהֶֽם׃

And my people

וְעַמִּ֥י

are bent

תְלוּאִ֖ים

to backsliding

לִמְשֽׁוּבָתִ֑י

 

וְאֶל

them to the most High

עַל֙

from me though they called

יִקְרָאֻ֔הוּ

none at all

יַ֖חַד

 

לֹ֥א

would exalt

יְרוֹמֵם׃

 

אֵ֞יךְ

How shall I give thee up

אֶתֶּנְךָ֣

Ephraim

אֶפְרַ֗יִם

how shall I deliver

אֲמַגֶּנְךָ֙

thee Israel

יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל

 

אֵ֚יךְ

How shall I give thee up

אֶתֶּנְךָ֣

thee as Admah

כְאַדְמָ֔ה

how shall I set

אֲשִֽׂימְךָ֖

thee as Zeboim

כִּצְבֹאיִ֑ם

is turned

נֶהְפַּ֤ךְ

 

עָלַי֙

mine heart

לִבִּ֔י

together

יַ֖חַד

are kindled

נִכְמְר֥וּ

within me my repentings

נִחוּמָֽי׃

 

לֹ֤א

I will not execute

אֶֽעֱשֶׂה֙

the fierceness

חֲר֣וֹן

of mine anger

אַפִּ֔י

 

לֹ֥א

I will not return

אָשׁ֖וּב

to destroy

לְשַׁחֵ֣ת

Ephraim

אֶפְרָ֑יִם

 

כִּ֣י

for I am God

אֵ֤ל

 

אָֽנֹכִי֙

 

וְלֹא

 

אִ֔ישׁ

in the midst

בְּקִרְבְּךָ֣

the Holy One

קָד֔וֹשׁ

 

וְלֹ֥א

of thee and I will not enter

אָב֖וֹא

into the city

בְּעִֽיר׃

אַחֲרֵ֧י

the LORD

יְהוָ֛ה

 

יֵלְכ֖וּ

like a lion

כְּאַרְיֵ֣ה

he shall roar

יִשְׁאַ֔ג

 

כִּֽי

 

ה֣וּא

he shall roar

יִשְׁאַ֔ג

shall tremble

וְיֶחֶרְד֥וּ

then the children

בָנִ֖ים

from the west

מִיָּֽם׃

They shall tremble

יֶחֶרְד֤וּ

as a bird

כְצִפּוֹר֙

out of Egypt

מִמִּצְרַ֔יִם

and as a dove

וּכְיוֹנָ֖ה

out of the land

מֵאֶ֣רֶץ

of Assyria

אַשּׁ֑וּר

and I will place

וְהוֹשַׁבְתִּ֥ים

 

עַל

them in their houses

בָּתֵּיהֶ֖ם

saith

נְאֻם

the LORD

יְהוָֽה׃

compasseth

סְבָבֻ֤נִי

me about with lies

בְכַ֙חַשׁ֙

Ephraim

אֶפְרַ֔יִם

with deceit

וּבְמִרְמָ֖ה

and the house

בֵּ֣ית

of Israel

יִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל

but Judah

וִֽיהוּדָ֗ה

 

עֹ֥ד

yet ruleth

רָד֙

 

עִם

with God

אֵ֔ל

 

וְעִם

with the saints

קְדוֹשִׁ֖ים

and is faithful

נֶאֱמָֽן׃
