from Egypt

מִמִּצְרַ֙יִם֙

out of the house

מִבֵּ֣ית

of bondage

עֲבָדִ֔ים

 

כִּ֚י

for by strength

בְּחֹ֣זֶק

of hand

יָ֔ד

brought you out

הוֹצִ֧יא

the LORD

יְהוָֹ֛ה

 

אֶתְכֶ֖ם

this

מִזֶּ֑ה

 

וְלֹ֥א

be eaten

יֵֽאָכֵ֖ל

from this place there shall no leavened bread

חָמֵֽץ׃

This day

הַיּ֖וֹם

 

אַתֶּ֣ם

בְּחֹ֖דֶשׁ

of the Canaanites

הַֽ֠כְּנַעֲנִי

and the Hittites

וְהַֽחִתִּ֨י

and the Amorites

וְהָֽאֱמֹרִ֜י

and the Hivites

וְהַֽחִוִּ֣י

and the Jebusites

וְהַיְבוּסִ֗י

 

אֲשֶׁ֨ר

which he sware

נִשְׁבַּ֤ע

unto thy fathers

לַֽאֲבֹתֶ֙יךָ֙

to give

לָ֣תֶת

 

לָ֔ךְ

thee a land

אֶ֛רֶץ

flowing

זָבַ֥ת

with milk

חָלָ֖ב

and honey

וּדְבָ֑שׁ

that thou shalt keep

וְעָֽבַדְתָּ֛

 

אֶת

this service

הָֽעֲבֹדָ֥ה

 

הַזֹּ֖את

in this month

בַּחֹ֥דֶשׁ

 

הַזֶּֽה׃

שִׁבְעַ֥ת

וּבַיּוֹם֙

thou shalt eat

תֹּאכַ֣ל

מַצֹּ֑ת

וּבַיּוֹם֙

and in the seventh

הַשְּׁבִיעִ֔י

shall be a feast

חַ֖ג

to the LORD

לַֽיהוָֽה׃

הַיָּמִ֑ים

לְךָ֜

and there shall no leavened bread

חָמֵ֗ץ

יֵרָאֶ֥ה

 

לְךָ֛

with thee neither shall there be leaven

שְׂאֹ֖ר

 

בְּכָל

with thee in all thy quarters

גְּבֻלֶֽךָ׃

And thou shalt shew

וְהִגַּדְתָּ֣

thy son

לְבִנְךָ֔

in that day

בַּיּ֥וֹם

 

הַה֖וּא

saying

לֵאמֹ֑ר

This is done because of

בַּֽעֲב֣וּר

that

זֶ֗ה

did

עָשָׂ֤ה

which the LORD

יְהוָה֙

 

לִ֔י

unto me when I came forth

בְּצֵאתִ֖י

out of Egypt

מִמִּצְרָֽיִם׃

 

וְהָיָה֩

 

לְךָ֙

And it shall be for a sign

לְא֜וֹת

 

עַל

hand

בְּיָ֣ד

and for a memorial

וּלְזִכָּרוֹן֙

 

בֵּ֣ין

between thine eyes

עֵינֶ֔יךָ

 

לְמַ֗עַן

 

תִּֽהְיֶ֛ה

law

תּוֹרַ֥ת

hath the LORD

יְהוָֹ֖ה

may be in thy mouth

בְּפִ֑יךָ

 

כִּ֚י

hand

בְּיָ֣ד

for with a strong

חֲזָקָ֔ה

brought thee out

הוֹצִֽאֲךָ֥

hath the LORD

יְהוָֹ֖ה

of Egypt

מִמִּצְרָֽיִם׃

Thou shalt therefore keep

וְשָֽׁמַרְתָּ֛

 

אֶת

this ordinance

הַחֻקָּ֥ה

 

הַזֹּ֖את

in his season

לְמֽוֹעֲדָ֑הּ

from year

יָמִֽימָה׃

from year

יָמִֽימָה׃

 

וְהָיָ֞ה

 

כִּֽי

shall bring

יְבִֽאֲךָ֤

And it shall be when the LORD

יְהוָה֙

 

אֶל

thee into the land

אֶ֣רֶץ

of the Canaanites

הַֽכְּנַעֲנִ֔י

 

כַּֽאֲשֶׁ֛ר

as he sware

נִשְׁבַּ֥ע

 

לְךָ֖

That thou shalt set apart

and if thou wilt not redeem

תִּפְדֶּֽה׃

with a lamb

בְשֶׂ֔ה

 

וְאִם

 

לֹ֥א

and if thou wilt not redeem

תִּפְדֶּֽה׃

it then thou shalt break his neck

וַֽעֲרַפְתּ֑וֹ

 

וְכֹ֨ל

and all the firstborn

בְּכ֥וֹר

of man

אָדָ֛ם

among thy children

בְּבָנֶ֖יךָ

and if thou wilt not redeem

תִּפְדֶּֽה׃

 

וְהָיָ֞ה

And it came to pass when Pharaoh

פַרְעֹה֮

לְשַׁלְּחֵנוּ֒

וַיַּֽהֲרֹ֨ג

that the LORD

לַֽיהוָ֗ה

 

כָּל

all the firstborn

בְּכ֥וֹר

in the land

בְּאֶ֣רֶץ

of Egypt

מִצְרַ֔יִם

all the firstborn

בְּכ֥וֹר

of man

אָדָ֖ם

 

וְעַד

all the firstborn

בְּכ֥וֹר

of beast

בְּהֵמָ֑ה

 

עַל

 

כֵּן֩

 

אֲנִ֨י

therefore I sacrifice

זֹבֵ֜חַ

that the LORD

לַֽיהוָ֗ה

 

כָּל

all that openeth

פֶּ֤טֶר

רֶ֙חֶם֙

being males

הַזְּכָרִ֔ים

 

וְכָל

all the firstborn

בְּכ֥וֹר

of my children

בָּנַ֖י

I redeem

אֶפְדֶּֽה׃

 

וְהָיָ֤ה

And it shall be for a token

לְאוֹת֙

יָ֔ד

and for frontlets

וּלְטֽוֹטָפֹ֖ת

 

בֵּ֣ין

between thine eyes

עֵינֶ֑יךָ

 

כִּ֚י

for by strength

בְּחֹ֣זֶק

הֽוֹצִיאָ֥נוּ

Lest peradventure the people

וְשָׁ֥בוּ

to Egypt

הַמִּדְבָּֽר׃

And the LORD

וַֽיהוָ֡ה

went

לָלֶ֖כֶת

before

לִפְנֵיהֶ֨ם

by day

יוֹמָ֥ם

in a pillar

בְּעַמּ֥וּד

of a cloud

עָנָן֙

to lead

לַנְחֹתָ֣ם

them the way

הַדֶּ֔רֶךְ

and by night

וָלָֽיְלָה׃

in a pillar

בְּעַמּ֥וּד

of fire

אֵ֖שׁ

to give them light

לְהָאִ֣יר

 

לָהֶ֑ם

went

לָלֶ֖כֶת
