his voice

בְּקֹל֔וֹ

אֲשַׁלֵּֽחַ׃

neither will I let Israel

יִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל

I know

יָדַ֙עְתִּי֙

unto the LORD

לַֽיהוָ֣ה

The God

אֱלֹהֵ֔ינוּ

 

פֶּ֨ן

lest he fall

יִפְגָּעֵ֔נוּ

upon us with pestilence

בַּדֶּ֖בֶר

 

א֥וֹ

or with the sword

בֶחָֽרֶב׃

said

וַיֹּ֤אמֶר

 

אֲלֵהֶם֙

And the king

מֶ֣לֶךְ

of Egypt

מִצְרַ֔יִם

 

לָ֚מָּה

unto them Wherefore do ye Moses

מֹשֶׁ֣ה

and Aaron

וְאַֽהֲרֹ֔ן

let

תַּפְרִ֥יעוּ

 

אֶת

הָעָ֖ם

from their works

מִמַּֽעֲשָׂ֑יו

 

לְכ֖וּ

you unto your burdens

לְסִבְלֹֽתֵיכֶֽם׃

And Pharaoh

הֵן

now are many

רַבִּ֥ים

 

עַתָּ֖ה

Behold the people

עַ֣ם

of the land

הָאָ֑רֶץ

and ye make them rest

וְהִשְׁבַּתֶּ֥ם

 

אֹתָ֖ם

from their burdens

מִסִּבְלֹתָֽם׃

commanded

וַיְצַ֥ו

And Pharaoh

פַּרְעֹ֖ה

the same day

בַּיּ֣וֹם

 

הַה֑וּא

the taskmasters

הַנֹּֽגְשִׂ֣ים

of the people

בָּעָ֔ם

 

וְאֶת

and their officers

שֹֽׁטְרָ֖יו

saying

לֵאמֹֽר׃

 

לֹ֣א

Ye shall no more

תֹֽאסִפ֞וּן

give

לָתֵ֨ת

straw

תֶּֽבֶן׃

the people

לָעָ֛ם

to make

לִלְבֹּ֥ן

brick

הַלְּבֵנִ֖ים

 

כִּתְמ֣וֹל

as heretofore

שִׁלְשֹׁ֑ם

 

הֵ֚ם

 

יֵֽלְכ֔וּ

and gather

וְקֹֽשְׁשׁ֥וּ

 

לָהֶ֖ם

straw

תֶּֽבֶן׃

And the tale

מַתְכֹּ֨נֶת

of the bricks

הַלְּבֵנִ֜ים

 

אֲשֶׁ֣ר

 

הֵם֩

which they did make

עֹשִׂ֨ים

 

תְּמ֤וֹל

heretofore

שִׁלְשֹׁם֙

ye shall lay

תָּשִׂ֣ימוּ

 

עֲלֵיהֶ֔ם

 

לֹ֥א

upon them ye shall not diminish

תִגְרְע֖וּ

 

מִמֶּ֑נּוּ

 

כִּֽי

ought thereof for they be idle

נִרְפִּ֣ים

 

הֵ֔ם

 

עַל

 

כֵּ֗ן

 

הֵ֤ם

therefore they cry

צֹֽעֲקִים֙

saying

לֵאמֹ֔ר

 

נֵֽלְכָ֖ה

and sacrifice

נִזְבְּחָ֥ה

to our God

לֵֽאלֹהֵֽינוּ׃

be laid

תִּכְבַּ֧ד

Let there more work

הָֽעֲבֹדָ֛ה

 

עַל

 

הָֽאֲנָשִׁ֖ים

that they may labour

וְיַֽעֲשׂוּ

 

בָ֑הּ

 

וְאַל

therein and let them not regard

יִשְׁע֖וּ

words

בְּדִבְרֵי

vain

שָֽׁקֶר׃

went out

וַיֵּ֨צְא֜וּ

And the taskmasters

נֹֽגְשֵׂ֤י

of the people

הָעָ֖ם

and their officers

וְשֹׁ֣טְרָ֔יו

ye get

קְח֤וּ

 

לָכֶם֙

you straw

תֶּ֔בֶן

מֵֽאֲשֶׁ֖ר

ye can find

תִּמְצָ֑אוּ

it yet

כִּ֣י

 

אֵ֥ין

shall be diminished

נִגְרָ֛ע

of your work

מֵעֲבֹֽדַתְכֶ֖ם

not ought

דָּבָֽר׃

were scattered abroad

וַיָּ֥פֶץ

So the people

הָעָ֖ם

 

בְּכָל

throughout all the land

אֶ֣רֶץ

of Egypt

מִצְרָ֑יִם

to gather

לְקֹשֵׁ֥שׁ

stubble

קַ֖שׁ

instead of straw

לַתֶּֽבֶן׃

And the taskmasters

וְהַנֹּֽגְשִׂ֖ים

hasted

אָצִ֣ים

them saying

לֵאמֹ֑ר

Fulfil

כַּלּ֤וּ

your works

מַֽעֲשֵׂיכֶם֙

tasks

דְּבַר

your daily

בְּיוֹמ֔וֹ

your daily

בְּיוֹמ֔וֹ

 

כַּֽאֲשֶׁ֖ר

as when there was

בִּֽהְי֥וֹת

straw

הַתֶּֽבֶן׃

over them were beaten

וַיֻּכּ֗וּ

And the officers

שֹֽׁטְרֵי֙

of the children

בְּנֵ֣י

of Israel

יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל

 

אֲשֶׁר

had set

שָׂ֣מוּ

 

עֲלֵהֶ֔ם

taskmasters

נֹֽגְשֵׂ֥י

which Pharaoh's

פַרְעֹ֖ה

and demanded

לֵאמֹ֑ר

 

מַדּ֡וּעַ

 

לֹא֩

Wherefore have ye not fulfilled

כִלִּיתֶ֨ם

your task

חָקְכֶ֤ם

in making brick

לִלְבֹּן֙

both yesterday

תְּמ֖וֹל

as heretofore

שִׁלְשֹׁ֔ם

 

גַּם

both yesterday

תְּמ֖וֹל

 

גַּם

and to day

הַיּֽוֹם׃

came

וַיָּבֹ֗אוּ

Then the officers

שֹֽׁטְרֵי֙

of the children

בְּנֵ֣י

of Israel

יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל

and cried

וַיִּצְעֲק֥וּ

 

אֶל

unto Pharaoh

פַּרְעֹ֖ה

saying

לֵאמֹ֑ר

 

לָ֧מָּה

Wherefore dealest

תַֽעֲשֶׂ֦ה

 

כֹ֖ה

thou thus with thy servants

לַֽעֲבָדֶֽיךָ׃

There is no straw

תֶּ֗בֶן

 

אֵ֤ין

given

נִתָּן֙

and behold thy servants

עֲבָדֶ֛יךָ

brick

וּלְבֵנִ֛ים

and they say

אֹֽמְרִ֥ים

 

לָ֖נוּ

to us Make

עֲשׂ֑וּ

 

וְהִנֵּ֧ה

and behold thy servants

עֲבָדֶ֛יךָ

are beaten

מֻכִּ֖ים

but the fault

וְחָטָ֥את

is in thine own people

עַמֶּֽךָ׃

But he said

אֹֽמְרִ֔ים

Ye are idle

נִרְפִּ֑ים

 

אַתֶּ֖ם

Ye are idle

נִרְפִּ֑ים

 

עַל

 

כֵּן֙

 

אַתֶּ֣ם

But he said

אֹֽמְרִ֔ים

 

נֵֽלְכָ֖ה

and do sacrifice

נִזְבְּחָ֥ה

to the LORD

לַֽיהוָֽה׃

 

וְעַתָּה֙

 

לְכ֣וּ

therefore now and work

עִבְד֔וּ

for there shall no straw

וְתֶ֖בֶן

 

לֹֽא

be given

תִּתֵּֽנּוּ׃

 

לָכֶ֑ם

וְתֹ֥כֶן

לְבֵנִ֖ים

וַֽיִּפְגְּעוּ֙

אַהֲרֹ֔ן

who stood

נִצָּבִ֖ים

in the way

לִקְרָאתָ֑ם

as they came forth

בְּצֵאתָ֖ם

 

מֵאֵ֥ת

from Pharaoh

פַּרְעֹֽה׃

And they said

וַיֹּֽאמְר֣וּ

 

אֲלֵהֶ֔ם

look

יֵ֧רֶא

unto them The LORD

יְהוָ֛ה

 

עֲלֵיכֶ֖ם

upon you and judge

וְיִשְׁפֹּ֑ט

 

אֲשֶׁ֧ר

to be abhorred

הִבְאַשְׁתֶּ֣ם

 

אֶת

because ye have made our savour

רֵיחֵ֗נוּ

and in the eyes

וּבְעֵינֵ֣י

of Pharaoh

פַרְעֹה֙

and in the eyes

וּבְעֵינֵ֣י

of his servants

עֲבָדָ֔יו

to put

לָֽתֶת

a sword

חֶ֥רֶב

in their hand

בְּיָדָ֖ם

to slay

לְהָרְגֵֽנוּ׃

returned

וַיָּ֧שָׁב

And Moses

מֹשֶׁ֛ה

 

אֶל

unto the LORD

יְהוָ֖ה

and said

וַיֹּאמַ֑ר

Lord

אֲדֹנָ֗י

 

לָמָ֤ה

wherefore hast thou so evil entreated

הֲרֵעֹ֙תָה֙

this people

לָעָ֣ם

 

הַזֶּ֔ה

 

לָ֥מָּה

 

זֶּ֖ה

why is it that thou hast sent

שְׁלַחְתָּֽנִי׃

 

וּמֵאָ֞ז

For since I came

בָּ֤אתִי

 

אֶל

to Pharaoh

פַּרְעֹה֙

to speak

לְדַבֵּ֣ר

in thy name

בִּשְׁמֶ֔ךָ

he hath done evil

הֵרַ֖ע

thy people

עַמֶּֽךָ׃

 

הַזֶּ֑ה

at all

הִצַּ֖לְתָּ

 

לֹֽא
