By swearing

אָלֹ֣ה

and lying

וְכַחֵ֔שׁ

and killing

וְרָצֹ֥חַ

and stealing

וְגָנֹ֖ב

and committing adultery

וְנָאֹ֑ף

they break out

פָּרָ֕צוּ

and blood

בְּדָמִ֖ים

and blood

בְּדָמִ֖ים

toucheth

נָגָֽעוּ׃

 

עַל

 

כֵּ֣ן׀

mourn

תֶּאֱבַ֣ל

Therefore shall the land

הָאָ֗רֶץ

therein shall languish

וְאֻמְלַל֙

 

כָּל

and every one that dwelleth

יוֹשֵׁ֣ב

 

בָּ֔הּ

with the beasts

בְּחַיַּ֥ת

of the field

הַשָּׂדֶ֖ה

and with the fowls

וּבְע֣וֹף

of heaven

הַשָּׁמָ֑יִם

 

וְגַם

yea the fishes

דְּגֵ֥י

of the sea

הַיָּ֖ם

also shall be taken away

יֵאָסֵֽפוּ׃

 

אַ֥ךְ

Yet let no man

אִ֑ישׁ

 

אַל

are as they that strive

כִּמְרִיבֵ֥י

 

וְאַל

nor reprove

יוֹכַ֣ח

Yet let no man

אִ֑ישׁ

for thy people

וְעַמְּךָ֖

are as they that strive

כִּמְרִיבֵ֥י

with the priest

כֹהֵֽן׃

Therefore shalt thou fall

וְכָשַׁ֧ל

in the day

הַיּ֔וֹם

Therefore shalt thou fall

וְכָשַׁ֧ל

 

גַּם

and the prophet

נָבִ֛יא

 

עִמְּךָ֖

with thee in the night

לָ֑יְלָה

and I will destroy

וְדָמִ֖יתִי

thy mother

אִמֶּֽךָ׃

are destroyed

נִדְמ֥וּ

My people

עַמִּ֖י

 

מִבְּלִ֣י

for lack of knowledge

הַדַּ֣עַת

 

כִּֽי

 

אַתָּ֞ה

for lack of knowledge

הַדַּ֣עַת

I will also reject

וְאֶמְאָֽסְאךָ֙

I will also reject

וְאֶמְאָֽסְאךָ֙

thee that thou shalt be no priest

מִכַּהֵ֣ן

 

לִ֔י

I will also forget

אֶשְׁכַּ֥ח

the law

תּוֹרַ֣ת

of thy God

אֱלֹהֶ֔יךָ

I will also forget

אֶשְׁכַּ֥ח

thy children

בָּנֶ֖יךָ

 

גַּם

 

אָֽנִי׃

As they were increased

כְּרֻבָּ֖ם

 

כֵּ֣ן

so they sinned

חָֽטְאוּ

 

לִ֑י

their glory

כְּבוֹדָ֖ם

into shame

בְּקָל֥וֹן

against me therefore will I change

אָמִֽיר׃

the sin

חַטַּ֥את

of my people

עַמִּ֖י

They eat up

יֹאכֵ֑לוּ

 

וְאֶל

on their iniquity

עֲוֹנָ֖ם

and they set

יִשְׂא֥וּ

their heart

נַפְשֽׁוֹ׃

 

וְהָיָ֥ה

And there shall be like people

כָעָ֖ם

like priest

כַּכֹּהֵ֑ן

and I will punish

וּפָקַדְתִּ֤י

 

עָלָיו֙

them for their ways

דְּרָכָ֔יו

them their doings

וּמַעֲלָלָ֖יו

and reward

אָשִׁ֥יב

 

לֽוֹ׃

For they shall eat

וְאָֽכְלוּ֙

 

וְלֹ֣א

and not have enough

יִשְׂבָּ֔עוּ

they shall commit whoredom

הִזְנ֖וּ

 

וְלֹ֣א

and shall not increase

יִפְרֹ֑צוּ

 

כִּֽי

 

אֶת

to the LORD

יְהוָ֥ה

because they have left off

עָזְב֖וּ

to take heed

לִשְׁמֹֽר׃

Whoredom

זְנ֛וּת

and wine

וְיַ֥יִן

and new wine

וְתִיר֖וֹשׁ

take away

יִֽקַּֽח

the heart

לֵֽב׃

My people

עַמִּי֙

counsel at their stocks

בְּעֵצ֣וֹ

ask

יִשְׁאָ֔ל

and their staff

וּמַקְל֖וֹ

declareth

יַגִּ֣יד

 

ל֑וֹ

 

כִּ֣י

unto them for the spirit

ר֤וּחַ

of whoredoms

זְנוּנִים֙

hath caused them to err

הִתְעָ֔ה

and they have gone a whoring

וַיִּזְנ֖וּ

 

מִתַּ֥חַת

from under their God

אֱלֹהֵיהֶֽם׃

 

עַל

upon the tops

רָאשֵׁ֨י

of the mountains

הֶהָרִ֜ים

They sacrifice

יְזַבֵּ֗חוּ

 

וְעַל

upon the hills

הַגְּבָעוֹת֙

and burn incense

יְקַטֵּ֔רוּ

 

תַּ֣חַת

under oaks

אַלּ֧וֹן

and poplars

וְלִבְנֶ֛ה

and elms

וְאֵלָ֖ה

 

כִּ֣י

thereof is good

ט֣וֹב

because the shadow

צִלָּ֑הּ

 

עַל

 

כֵּ֗ן

shall commit whoredom

תִּזְנֶ֙ינָה֙

therefore your daughters

בְּנ֣וֹתֵיכֶ֔ם

and your spouses

וְכַלּוֹתֵיכֶ֖ם

shall commit adultery

תְּנָאַֽפְנָה׃

 

לֹֽא

I will not punish

אֶפְק֨וֹד

 

עַל

your daughters

בְּנוֹתֵיכֶ֜ם

 

כִּ֣י

when they commit whoredom

הַזֹּנ֣וֹת

 

וְעַל

nor your spouses

כַּלּֽוֹתֵיכֶם֙

 

כִּ֣י

when they commit adultery

תְנָאַ֔פְנָה

 

כִּי

 

הֵם֙

 

עִם

when they commit whoredom

הַזֹּנ֣וֹת

for themselves are separated

יְפָרֵ֔דוּ

 

וְעִם

with harlots

הַקְּדֵשׁ֖וֹת

and they sacrifice

יְזַבֵּ֑חוּ

therefore the people

וְעָ֥ם

 

לֹֽא

that doth not understand

יָבִ֖ין

shall fall

יִלָּבֵֽט׃

 

אִם

play the harlot

זֹנֶ֤ה

 

אַתָּה֙

Though thou Israel

יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל

 

אַל

offend

יֶאְשַׁ֖ם

yet let not Judah

יְהוּדָ֑ה

 

וְאַל

and come

תָּבֹ֣אוּ

not ye unto Gilgal

הַגִּלְגָּ֗ל

 

וְאַֽל

neither go ye up

תַּעֲלוּ֙

 

בֵּ֣ית

to Bethaven

אָ֔וֶן

 

וְאַל

nor swear

תִּשָּׁבְע֖וּ

liveth

חַי

The LORD

יְהוָֽה׃

heifer

כְּפָרָ֣ה

as a backsliding

סָרַ֖ר

as a backsliding

For Israel

יִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל

 

עַתָּה֙

will feed

יִרְעֵ֣ם

now the LORD

יְהוָ֔ה

them as a lamb

כְּכֶ֖בֶשׂ

in a large place

בַּמֶּרְחָֽב׃

is joined

חֲב֧וּר

to idols

עֲצַבִּ֛ים

Ephraim

אֶפְרָ֖יִם

let him alone

הַֽנַּֽח

 

לֽוֹ׃

is sour

סָ֖ר

Their drink

סָבְאָ֑ם

continually

הִזְנ֔וּ

continually

הִזְנ֔וּ

do love

אָהֲב֥וּ

Give

הֵב֛וּ

with shame

קָל֖וֹן

her rulers

מָגִנֶּֽיהָ׃

hath bound her up

צָרַ֥ר

The wind

ר֛וּחַ

 

אוֹתָ֖הּ

in her wings

בִּכְנָפֶ֑יהָ

and they shall be ashamed

וְיֵבֹ֖שׁוּ

because of their sacrifices

מִזִּבְחוֹתָֽם׃
