שִׁמְעוּ

 

זֹ֣את

of Jacob

יַעֲקֹ֗ב

which are called

הַנִּקְרָאִים֙

by the name

בְּשֵׁ֣ם

of Israel

יִשְׂרָאֵל֙

out of the waters

וּמִמֵּ֥י

of Judah

יְהוּדָ֖ה

and are come forth

יָצָ֑אוּ

which swear

הַֽנִּשְׁבָּעִ֣ים׀

by the name

בְּשֵׁ֣ם

of the LORD

יְהוָ֗ה

of the God

וּבֵאלֹהֵ֤י

of Israel

יִשְׂרָאֵל֙

and make mention

בֶאֱמֶ֖ת

 

וְלֹ֥א

nor in righteousness

בִצְדָקָֽה׃

themselves upon the God

אֱלֹהֵ֥י

of Israel

יִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל

and stay

נִסְמָ֑כוּ

The LORD

יְהוָ֥ה

of hosts

צְבָא֖וֹת

is his name

שְׁמֽוֹ׃

the former things

הָרִֽאשֹׁנוֹת֙

from the beginning

מֵאָ֣ז

I have declared

הִגַּ֔דְתִּי

out of my mouth

וּמִפִּ֥י

and they went forth

יָצְא֖וּ

and I shewed

וְאַשְׁמִיעֵ֑ם

them suddenly

פִּתְאֹ֥ם

them I did

עָשִׂ֖יתִי

and they came to pass

וַתָּבֹֽאנָה׃

Because I knew

מִדַּעְתִּ֕י

 

כִּ֥י

that thou art obstinate

קָשֶׁ֖ה

 

אָ֑תָּה

sinew

וְגִ֤יד

is an iron

בַּרְזֶל֙

and thy neck

עָרְפֶּ֔ךָ

and thy brow

וּמִצְחֲךָ֖

brass

נְחוּשָֽׁה׃

declared

וָאַגִּ֤יד

 

לְךָ֙

I have even from the beginning

מֵאָ֔ז

 

בְּטֶ֥רֶם

it to thee before it came to pass

תָּב֖וֹא

I shewed

הִשְׁמַעְתִּ֑יךָ

 

פֶּן

it thee lest thou shouldest say

תֹּאמַר֙

Mine idol

עָצְבִּ֣י

hath done

עָשָׂ֔ם

them and my graven image

וּפִסְלִ֥י

and my molten image

וְנִסְכִּ֖י

hath commanded

צִוָּֽם׃

Thou hast heard

הִשְׁמַעְתִּ֤יךָ

see

חֲזֵה֙

 

כֻּלָּ֔הּ

 

וְאַתֶּ֖ם

 

הֲל֣וֹא

all this and will not ye declare

תַגִּ֑ידוּ

Thou hast heard

הִשְׁמַעְתִּ֤יךָ

thee new things

חֲדָשׁוֹת֙

from this time

מֵעַ֔תָּה

even hidden things

וּנְצֻר֖וֹת

 

וְלֹ֥א

and thou didst not know

יְדַעְתָּֽם׃

 

עַתָּ֤ה

They are created

נִבְרְאוּ֙

 

וְלֹ֣א

 

מֵאָ֔ז

now and not from the beginning even before

וְלִפְנֵי

the day

י֖וֹם

 

וְלֹ֣א

when thou heardest

שְׁמַעְתָּ֑ם

 

פֶּן

them not lest thou shouldest say

תֹּאמַ֖ר

 

הִנֵּ֥ה

Behold I knew

יְדַעְתִּֽין׃

לֹֽא

Yea thou heardest

שָׁמַ֗עְתָּ

 

גַּ֚ם

 

לֹ֣א

for I knew

יָדַ֙עְתִּי֙

מֵאָ֖ז

פִתְּחָ֣ה

not yea from that time that thine ear

אָזְנֶ֑ךָ

for I knew

יָדַ֙עְתִּי֙

 

בָּג֣וֹד

that thou wouldest deal very

תִּבְגּ֔וֹד

a transgressor

וּפֹשֵׁ֥עַ

from the womb

מִבֶּ֖טֶן

and wast called

קֹ֥רָא

 

לָֽךְ׃

 

לְמַ֤עַן

For my name's

שְׁמִי֙

sake will I defer

אַאֲרִ֣יךְ

mine anger

אַפִּ֔י

and for my praise

וּתְהִלָּתִ֖י

will I refrain

אֶחֱטָם

 

לָ֑ךְ

 

לְבִלְתִּ֖י

for thee that I cut thee not off

הַכְרִיתֶֽךָ׃

 

הִנֵּ֥ה

Behold I have refined

צְרַפְתִּ֖יךָ

 

וְלֹ֣א

thee but not with silver

בְכָ֑סֶף

I have chosen

בְּחַרְתִּ֖יךָ

thee in the furnace

בְּכ֥וּר

of affliction

עֹֽנִי׃

 

לְמַעֲנִ֧י

 

לְמַעֲנִ֛י

For mine own sake even for mine own sake will I do

אֶעֱשֶׂ֖ה

 

כִּ֣י

 

אֵ֣יךְ

it for how should my name be polluted

יֵחָ֑ל

my glory

וּכְבוֹדִ֖י

unto another

לְאַחֵ֥ר

 

לֹֽא

and I will not give

אֶתֵּֽן׃

Hearken

שְׁמַ֤ע

 

אֵלַי֙

unto me O Jacob

יַֽעֲקֹ֔ב

and Israel

וְיִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל

my called

מְקֹרָאִ֑י

 

אֲנִי

 

הוּא֙

 

אֲנִ֣י

I am he I am the first

רִאשׁ֔וֹן

 

אַ֖ף

 

אֲנִ֥י

I also am the last

אַחֲרֽוֹן׃

 

אַף

Mine hand

יָדִי֙

also hath laid the foundation

יָ֣סְדָה

of the earth

אֶ֔רֶץ

and my right hand

וִֽימִינִ֖י

hath spanned

טִפְּחָ֣ה

the heavens

שָׁמָ֑יִם

when I call

קֹרֵ֥א

 

אֲנִ֛י

 

אֲלֵיהֶ֖ם

unto them they stand up

יַעַמְד֥וּ

together

יַחְדָּֽו׃

All ye assemble

הִקָּבְצ֤וּ

 

כֻלְּכֶם֙

yourselves and hear

וּֽשֲׁמָ֔עוּ

 

מִ֥י

 

בָהֶ֖ם

which among them hath declared

הִגִּ֣יד

 

אֶת

 

אֵ֑לֶּה

these things The LORD

יְהוָ֣ה

אֲהֵב֔וֹ

יַעֲשֶׂ֤ה

his pleasure

חֶפְצוֹ֙

on Babylon

בְּבָבֶ֔ל

and his arm

וּזְרֹע֖וֹ

shall be on the Chaldeans

כַּשְׂדִּֽים׃

 

אֲנִ֥י

 

אֲנִ֛י

I even I have spoken

דִּבַּ֖רְתִּי

 

אַף

yea I have called

קְרָאתִ֑יו

him I have brought

הֲבִיאֹתִ֖יו

prosperous

וְהִצְלִ֥יחַ

him and he shall make his way

דַּרְכּֽוֹ׃

Come

קִרְב֧וּ

 

אֵלַ֣י

unto me hear

שִׁמְעוּ

 

זֹ֗את

 

לֹ֤א

מֵרֹאשׁ֙

in secret

בַּסֵּ֣תֶר

ye this I have not spoken

דִּבַּ֔רְתִּי

from the time

מֵעֵ֥ת

 

הֱיוֹתָ֖הּ

וְעַתָּ֗ה

that it was there am I and now the Lord

אֲדֹנָ֧י

GOD

יְהוִ֛ה

שְׁלָחַ֖נִי

and his Spirit

וְרוּחֽוֹ׃

אָמַ֧ר

I am the LORD

יְהוָ֤ה

thy Redeemer

גֹּאַלְךָ֖

the Holy One

קְד֣וֹשׁ

of Israel

יִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל

 

אֲנִ֨י

I am the LORD

יְהוָ֤ה

thy God

אֱלֹהֶ֙יךָ֙

which teacheth

מְלַמֶּדְךָ֣

thee to profit

לְהוֹעִ֔יל

which leadeth

מַדְרִֽיכֲךָ֖

thee by the way

בְּדֶ֥רֶךְ

 

תֵּלֵֽךְ׃

O that

ל֥וּא

thou hadst hearkened

הִקְשַׁ֖בְתָּ

to my commandments

לְמִצְוֹתָ֑י

 

וַיְהִ֤י

been as a river

כַנָּהָר֙

then had thy peace

שְׁלוֹמֶ֔ךָ

and thy righteousness

וְצִדְקָתְךָ֖

as the waves

כְּגַלֵּ֥י

of the sea

הַיָּֽם׃

 

וַיְהִ֤י

also had been as the sand

כַחוֹל֙

Thy seed

זַרְעֶ֔ךָ

and the offspring

וְצֶאֱצָאֵ֥י

of thy bowels

מֵעֶ֖יךָ

like the gravel

כִּמְעֹתָ֑יו

 

לֹֽא

should not have been cut off

יִכָּרֵ֧ת

 

וְֽלֹא

nor destroyed

יִשָּׁמֵ֛ד

thereof his name

שְׁמ֖וֹ

from before

מִלְּפָנָֽי׃

Go ye forth

הוֹצִיא֖וּהָ

of Babylon

מִבָּבֶל֮

flee

בִּרְח֣וּ

ye from the Chaldeans

מִכַּשְׂדִּים֒

with a voice

בְּק֣וֹל

of singing

רִנָּ֗ה

declare

הַגִּ֤ידוּ

ye tell

הַשְׁמִ֙יעוּ֙

 

זֹ֔את

Go ye forth

הוֹצִיא֖וּהָ

 

עַד

it even to the end

קְצֵ֣ה

of the earth

הָאָ֑רֶץ

say

אִמְר֕וּ

hath redeemed

גָּאַ֥ל

ye The LORD

יְהוָ֖ה

עַבְדּ֥וֹ

Jacob

וְלֹ֣א

And they thirsted

צָמְא֗וּ

them through the deserts

בָּחֳרָבוֹת֙

 

הֽוֹלִיכָ֔ם

also and the waters

מָֽיִם׃

out of the rock

צ֔וּר

to flow

הִזִּ֣יל

 

לָ֑מוֹ

for them he clave

וַיִּ֨בְקַע

out of the rock

צ֔וּר

gushed out

וַיָּזֻ֖בוּ

also and the waters

מָֽיִם׃

 

אֵ֣ין

There is no peace

שָׁל֔וֹם

saith

אָמַ֥ר

the LORD

יְהוָ֖ה

unto the wicked

לָרְשָׁעִֽים׃
