חָ֑רֶשׂ

and of the ancients

וּמִזִּקְנֵ֖י

And go forth

וְיָצָ֙אתָ֙

 

אֶל

unto the valley

פֶּ֖תַח

gate

שַׁ֣עַר

of the east

הַֽחַרְסִ֑ות

and proclaim

הַדְּבָרִ֖ים

 

אֲשֶׁר

that I shall tell

אֲדַבֵּ֥ר

 

אֵלֶֽיךָ׃

And say

אָמַר֩

Hear

שֹׁמְעָ֖הּ

ye the word

דְבַר

of the LORD

יְהוָ֨ה

O kings

מַלְכֵ֣י

of Judah

יְהוּדָ֔ה

and inhabitants

וְיֹשְׁבֵ֖י

of Jerusalem

יְרֽוּשָׁלִָ֑ם

 

כֹּֽה

And say

אָמַר֩

of the LORD

יְהוָ֨ה

of hosts

צְבָא֜וֹת

the God

אֱלֹהֵ֣י

of Israel

יִשְׂרָאֵ֗ל

 

הִנְנִ֨י

Behold I will bring

מֵבִ֤יא

evil

רָעָה֙

 

עַל

upon this place

הַמָּק֣וֹם

 

הַזֶּ֔ה

 

אֲשֶׁ֥ר

 

כָּל

Hear

שֹׁמְעָ֖הּ

shall tingle

תִּצַּ֥לְנָה

his ears

אָזְנָֽיו׃

 

יַ֣עַן׀

 

אֲשֶׁ֣ר

Because they have forsaken

עֲזָבֻ֗נִי

me and have estranged

וַֽיְנַכְּר֞וּ

 

אֶת

this place

הַמָּק֥וֹם

 

הַזֶּה֙

and have burned incense

וַיְקַטְּרוּ

 

בוֹ֙

gods

לֵאלֹהִ֣ים

in it unto other

אֲחֵרִ֔ים

 

אֲשֶׁ֧ר

 

לֹֽא

have known

יְדָע֛וּם

 

הֵ֥מָּה

whom neither they nor their fathers

וַאֲבֽוֹתֵיהֶ֖ם

nor the kings

וּמַלְכֵ֣י

of Judah

יְהוּדָ֑ה

and have filled

וּמָֽלְא֛וּ

 

אֶת

this place

הַמָּק֥וֹם

 

הַזֶּ֖ה

with the blood

דַּ֥ם

of innocents

נְקִיִּֽם׃

They have built

וּבָנ֞וּ

 

אֶת

also the high places

בָּמ֣וֹת

of Baal

לַבָּ֑עַל

to burn

לִשְׂרֹ֧ף

 

אֶת

their sons

בְּנֵיהֶ֛ם

with fire

בָּאֵ֖שׁ

for burnt offerings

עֹל֣וֹת

of Baal

לַבָּ֑עַל

 

אֲשֶׁ֤ר

 

לֹֽא

which I commanded

צִוִּ֙יתִי֙

 

וְלֹ֣א

not nor spake

דִבַּ֔רְתִּי

 

וְלֹ֥א

it neither came

עָלְתָ֖ה

 

עַל

it into my mind

לִבִּֽי׃

 

לָכֵ֞ן

 

הִנֵּֽה

Therefore behold the days

יָמִ֤ים

come

בָּאִים֙

saith

נְאֻם

the LORD

יְהוָ֔ה

 

וְלֹא

shall no more be called

יִקָּרֵא֩

that this place

לַמָּק֨וֹם

 

הַזֶּ֥ה

 

ע֛וֹד

Tophet

הַתֹּ֖פֶת

but The valley

גֵּ֥יא

of the son

בֶן

of Hinnom

הִנֹּ֑ם

 

כִּ֖י

 

אִם

but The valley

גֵּ֥יא

of slaughter

הַהֲרֵגָֽה׃

And I will make void

וּ֠בַקֹּתִי

 

אֶת

the counsel

עֲצַ֨ת

of Judah

יְהוּדָ֤ה

and Jerusalem

וִירוּשָׁלִַ֙ם֙

in this place

בַּמָּק֣וֹם

 

הַזֶּ֔ה

and I will cause them to fall

וְהִפַּלְתִּ֤ים

by the sword

בַּחֶ֙רֶב֙

before

לִפְנֵ֣י

their enemies

אֹֽיְבֵיהֶ֔ם

and by the hands

וּבְיַ֖ד

of them that seek

מְבַקְשֵׁ֣י

their lives

נַפְשָׁ֑ם

will I give

וְנָתַתִּ֤י

 

אֶת

and their carcases

נִבְלָתָם֙

to be meat

לְמַֽאֲכָ֔ל

for the fowls

לְע֥וֹף

of the heaven

הַשָּׁמַ֖יִם

and for the beasts

וּלְבֶהֱמַ֥ת

of the earth

הָאָֽרֶץ׃

And I will make

וְשַׂמְתִּי֙

 

אֶת

this city

הָעִ֣יר

 

הַזֹּ֔את

desolate

לְשַׁמָּ֖ה

and an hissing

וְלִשְׁרֵקָ֑ה

 

כֹּ֚ל

every one that passeth

עֹבֵ֣ר

 

עָלֶ֔יהָ

thereby shall be astonished

יִשֹּׁ֥ם

and hiss

וְיִשְׁרֹ֖ק

 

עַל

 

כָּל

because of all the plagues

מַכֹּתֶֽהָ׃

And I will cause them to eat

יֹאכֵ֑לוּ

 

אֶת

and the flesh

בְּשַׂר

of their sons

בְּנֵיהֶ֗ם

 

וְאֵת֙

and the flesh

בְּשַׂר

of their daughters

בְּנֹתֵיהֶ֔ם

every one

וְאִ֥ישׁ

and the flesh

בְּשַׂר

of his friend

רֵעֵ֖הוּ

And I will cause them to eat

יֹאכֵ֑לוּ

in the siege

בְּמָצוֹר֙

and straitness

וּבְמָצ֔וֹק

 

אֲשֶׁ֨ר

shall straiten

יָצִ֧יקוּ

 

לָהֶ֛ם

wherewith their enemies

אֹיְבֵיהֶ֖ם

and they that seek

וּמְבַקְשֵׁ֥י

their lives

נַפְשָֽׁם׃

Then shalt thou break

וְשָׁבַרְתָּ֖

the bottle

הַבַּקְבֻּ֑ק

in the sight

לְעֵינֵי֙

of the men

הָֽאֲנָשִׁ֔ים

that go

הַהֹלְכִ֖ים

 

אוֹתָֽךְ׃

And shalt say

אָמַ֣ר׀

 

אֲלֵיהֶ֜ם

 

כֹּה

And shalt say

אָמַ֣ר׀

the LORD

יְהוָ֣ה

of hosts

צְבָא֗וֹת

Even so

כָּ֣כָה

as one breaketh

יִשְׁבֹּר֙

this people

הָעָ֤ם

and this city

הָעִ֣יר

 

הַזֹּ֔את

 

כַּאֲשֶׁ֤ר

as one breaketh

יִשְׁבֹּר֙

כְּלִ֣י

הַיּוֹצֵ֔ר

 

אֲשֶׁ֛ר

 

לֹֽא

that cannot

יוּכַ֥ל

be made whole again

לְהֵרָפֵ֖ה

וּבְתֹ֣פֶת

and they shall bury

לִקְבּֽוֹר׃

 

מֵאֵ֥ין

till there be no place

מָק֖וֹם

and they shall bury

Thus will I do

אֶעֱשֶׂ֞ה

unto this place

לַמָּק֥וֹם

 

הַזֶּ֛ה

saith

נְאֻם

the LORD

יְהוָ֖ה

and to the inhabitants

וּלְיֽוֹשְׁבָ֑יו

thereof and even make

וְלָתֵ֛ת

 

אֶת

this city

הָעִ֥יר

 

הַזֹּ֖את

as Tophet

כְּתֹֽפֶת׃

 

וְהָי֞וּ

And the houses

הַבָּתִּ֗ים

of Jerusalem

יְרוּשָׁלִַ֗ם

And the houses

הַבָּתִּ֗ים

of the kings

מַלְכֵ֣י

of Judah

יְהוּדָ֔ה

as the place

כִּמְק֥וֹם

of Tophet

הַתֹּ֖פֶת

shall be defiled

הַטְּמֵאִ֑ים

 

לְכֹ֣ל

And the houses

הַבָּתִּ֗ים

 

אֲשֶׁ֨ר

they have burned incense

קִטְּר֜וּ

 

עַל

upon whose roofs

גַּגֹּֽתֵיהֶם֙

 

לְכֹל֙

unto all the host

צְבָ֣א

of heaven

הַשָּׁמַ֔יִם

and have poured out

וְהַסֵּ֥ךְ

drink offerings

נְסָכִ֖ים

gods

לֵאלֹהִ֥ים

unto other

אֲחֵרִֽים׃

Then came

וַיָּבֹ֤א

Jeremiah

יִרְמְיָ֙הוּ֙

from Tophet

מֵֽהַתֹּ֔פֶת

 

אֲשֶׁ֨ר

had sent

שְׁלָח֧וֹ

of the LORD'S

יְהוָ֔ה

 

שָׁ֖ם

him to prophesy

לְהִנָּבֵ֑א

and he stood

וַֽיַּעֲמֹד֙

in the court

בַּחֲצַ֣ר

house

בֵּית

of the LORD'S

יְהוָ֔ה

and said

וַיֹּ֖אמֶר

to all the people

הָעָֽם׃

Thus saith

the LORD

יְהוָ֤ה

of hosts

צְבָאוֹת֙

the God

אֱלֹהֵ֣י

of Israel

יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל

 

הִנְנִ֨י

Behold I will bring

מֵבִ֜י

 

אֶל

and upon all her towns

עָרֶ֔יהָ

 

הַזֹּאת֙

 

וְעַל

 

כָּל

and upon all her towns

עָרֶ֔יהָ

 

אֵ֚ת

 

כָּל

all the evil

הָ֣רָעָ֔ה

 

אֲשֶׁ֥ר

that I have pronounced

דִּבַּ֖רְתִּי

 

עָלֶ֑יהָ

 

כִּ֤י

against it because they have hardened

הִקְשׁוּ֙

 

אֶת

their necks

עָרְפָּ֔ם

 

לְבִלְתִּ֖י

that they might not hear

שְׁמ֥וֹעַ

 

אֶת
