אֲשֶׁ֨ר

 

ה֥וּא

so he made

לַעֲשֽׂוֹת׃

of clay

בַּחֹ֖מֶר

in the hand

בְּיַ֣ד

of the potter

הַיּוֹצֵ֖ר

it again

וְשָׁ֗ב

so he made

לַעֲשֽׂוֹת׃

And the vessel

כְּלִ֣י

another

אַחֵ֔ר

 

כַּאֲשֶׁ֥ר

good

יָשַׁ֛ר

as seemed

בְּעֵינֵ֥י

of the potter

הַיּוֹצֵ֖ר

so he made

לַעֲשֽׂוֹת׃

 

וַיְהִ֥י

Then the word

of the LORD

יְהוָ֖ה

came to me saying

לֵאמֽוֹר׃

לַעֲשׂ֥וֹת

 

לָכֶ֛ם

O house

בֵּ֥ית

of Israel

יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃

הִנֵּ֤ה

Behold as the clay

כַחֹ֙מֶר֙

hand

בְּיָדִ֖י

is in the potter's

הַיּוֹצֵ֔ר

יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃

At what instant

רֶ֣גַע

I shall speak

אֲדַבֵּ֔ר

 

עַל

concerning a nation

גּ֖וֹי

 

וְעַל

and concerning a kingdom

מַמְלָכָ֑ה

to pluck up

לִנְת֥וֹשׁ

and to pull down

וְלִנְת֖וֹץ

and to destroy

וּֽלְהַאֲבִֽיד׃

turn

וְשָׁב֙

If that nation

הַגּ֣וֹי

 

הַה֔וּא

from their evil

הָ֣רָעָ֔ה

 

אֲשֶׁ֥ר

against whom I have pronounced

דִּבַּ֖רְתִּי

 

עָלָ֑יו

I will repent

וְנִֽחַמְתִּי֙

 

עַל

from their evil

הָ֣רָעָ֔ה

 

אֲשֶׁ֥ר

that I thought

חָשַׁ֖בְתִּי

to do

לַעֲשׂ֥וֹת

 

לֽוֹ׃

And at what instant

וְרֶ֣גַע

I shall speak

אֲדַבֵּ֔ר

 

עַל

מַמְלָכָ֑ה

to build

לִבְנ֖וֹת

and to plant

וְלִנְטֽוֹעַ׃

If it do

וְעָשָׂ֤ה

evil

הָרַע֙ה

in my sight

בְּעֵינַ֔י

 

לְבִלְתִּ֖י

that it obey

שְׁמֹ֣עַ

not my voice

בְּקוֹלִ֑י

then I will repent

וְנִֽחַמְתִּי֙

 

עַל

of the good

הַטּוֹבָ֔ה

 

אֲשֶׁ֥ר

wherewith I said

אָמַ֖רְתִּי

I would benefit

לְהֵיטִ֥יב

 

אוֹתֽוֹ׃

 

וְעַתָּ֡ה

וְחֹשֵׁ֥ב

 

עֲלֵיכֶ֖ם

a device

מַֽחֲשָׁבָ֑ה

against you return

שׁ֣וּבוּ

 

נָ֗א

to the men

אִ֚ישׁ

and make your ways

דַרְכֵיכֶ֖ם

evil

הָֽרָעָ֔ה

good

וְהֵיטִ֥יבוּ

and make your ways

דַרְכֵיכֶ֖ם

and your doings

וּמַעַלְלֵיכֶֽם׃

And they said

וְאָמְר֖וּ

There is no hope

נוֹאָ֑שׁ

the LORD

ye now among the heathen

בַּגּוֹיִ֔ם

who hath heard

שָׁמַ֖ע

 

כָּאֵ֑לֶּה

horrible thing

שַֽׁעֲרֻרִת֙

hath done

עָשְׂתָ֣ה

a very

מְאֹ֔ד

such things the virgin

בְּתוּלַ֖ת

of Israel

יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃

Will a man leave

הֲיַעֲזֹ֥ב

which cometh from the rock

מִצּ֛וּר

of the field

שָׂדַ֖י

the snow

שֶׁ֣לֶג

of Lebanon

לְבָנ֑וֹן

 

אִם

be forsaken

יִנָּתְשׁ֗וּ

waters

מַ֛יִם

that come from another place

זָרִ֥ים

or shall the cold

קָרִ֖ים

flowing

נוֹזְלִֽים׃

 

כִּֽי

hath forgotten

שְׁכֵחֻ֥נִי

Because my people

עַמִּ֖י

to vanity

לַשָּׁ֣וְא

me they have burned incense

יְקַטֵּ֑רוּ

and they have caused them to stumble

וַיַּכְשִׁל֤וּם

every one that passeth

עוֹבֵ֣ר

 

עָלֶ֔יהָ

thereby shall be astonished

יִשֹּׁ֖ם

and wag

וְיָנִ֥יד

בְּרֹאשֽׁוֹ׃

כְּרֽוּחַ

them as with an east

I will scatter

אֲפִיצֵ֖ם

and not the face

פָנִ֛ים

the enemy

and let us devise

וְנַחְשְׁבָ֣ה

 

עַֽל

against Jeremiah

יִרְמְיָהוּ֮

devices

מַחֲשָׁבוֹת֒

 

כִּי֩

 

לֹא

shall not perish

תֹאבַ֨ד

for the law

תּוֹרָ֜ה

from the priest

מִכֹּהֵ֗ן

nor counsel

וְעֵצָה֙

from the wise

מֵֽחָכָ֔ם

nor the word

דְּבָרָֽיו׃

from the prophet

מִנָּבִ֑יא

 

לְכוּ֙

and let us smite

וְנַכֵּ֣הוּ

him with the tongue

בַלָּשׁ֔וֹן

 

וְאַל

and let us not give heed

נַקְשִׁ֖יבָה

 

אֶל

 

כָּל

nor the word

דְּבָרָֽיו׃

Give heed

הַקְשִׁ֥יבָה

to me O LORD

יְהוָ֖ה

 

אֵלָ֑י

and hearken

וּשְׁמַ֖ע

to the voice

לְק֥וֹל

of them that contend

יְרִיבָֽי׃

be recompensed

הַיְשֻׁלַּ֤ם

 

תַּֽחַת

for good

טוֹבָ֔ה

Shall evil

רָעָ֔ה

 

כִּֽי

for they have digged

כָר֥וּ

a pit

שׁוּחָ֖ה

for my soul

לְנַפְשִׁ֑י

זְכֹ֣ר׀

that I stood

עָמְדִ֣י

before

לְפָנֶ֗יךָ

thee to speak

לְדַבֵּ֤ר

 

עֲלֵיהֶם֙

for good

טוֹבָ֔ה

for them and to turn away

לְהָשִׁ֥יב

 

אֶת

thy wrath

חֲמָתְךָ֖

 

מֵהֶֽם׃

 

לָכֵן֩

Therefore deliver up

תֵּ֨ן

 

אֶת

their children

בְּנֵיהֶ֜ם

to the famine

לָרָעָ֗ב

and pour out

וְהַגִּרֵם֮

 

עַל

their blood by the force

יְדֵי

by the sword

חֶ֖רֶב

 

וְתִֽהְיֶ֨נָה

and let their wives

נְשֵׁיהֶ֤ם

be bereaved

שַׁכֻּלוֹת֙

of their children and be widows

וְאַלְמָנ֔וֹת

 

וְאַ֨נְשֵׁיהֶ֔ם

 

יִֽהְי֖וּ

be put

הֲרֻ֣גֵי

to death

מָ֑וֶת

let their young men

בַּח֣וּרֵיהֶ֔ם

be slain

מֻכֵּי

by the sword

חֶ֖רֶב

in battle

בַּמִּלְחָמָֽה׃

be heard

תִּשָּׁמַ֤ע

Let a cry

זְעָקָה֙

from their houses

מִבָּ֣תֵּיהֶ֔ם

 

כִּֽי

when thou shalt bring

תָבִ֧יא

 

עֲלֵיהֶ֛ם

a troop

גְּד֖וּד

suddenly

פִּתְאֹ֑ם

 

כִּֽי

upon them for they have digged

כָר֤וּ

שׁיּחָה֙

to take

לְלָכְדֵ֔נִי

snares

וּפַחִ֖ים

me and hid

טָמְנ֥וּ

for my feet

וְאַתָּ֣ה

Yet LORD

יְ֠הוָה

thou knowest

יָדַ֜עְתָּ

all their counsel

against me to slay

לַמָּ֔וֶת

 

אַל

me forgive

תְּכַפֵּר֙

not their iniquity

עֲוֹנָ֔ם

וְחַטָּאתָ֖ם

before

לְפָנֶ֔יךָ

 

אַל

neither blot out

תֶּ֑מְחִי

 

וְהְי֤וּ

but let them be overthrown

of thine anger
