שֻׁגַּ֔לְתְּ

דְּרָכִים֙

hast thou sat

יָשַׁ֣בְתְּ

 

לָהֶ֔ם

כַּעֲרָבִ֖י

in the wilderness

בַּמִּדְבָּ֑ר

and thou hast polluted

וַתַּחֲנִ֣יפִי

the land

אֶ֔רֶץ

with thy whoredoms

בִּזְנוּתַ֖יִךְ

and with thy wickedness

וּבְרָעָתֵֽךְ׃

have been withholden

וַיִּמָּנְע֣וּ

Therefore the showers

רְבִבִ֔ים

and there hath been no latter rain

וּמַלְק֖וֹשׁ

 

ל֣וֹא

 

הָיָ֑ה

forehead

וּמֵ֨צַח

 

אִשָּׁ֤ה

and thou hadst a whore's

זוֹנָה֙

 

הָ֣יָה

 

לָ֔ךְ

thou refusedst

מֵאַ֖נְתְּ

to be ashamed

הִכָּלֵֽם׃

 

הֲל֣וֹא

 

מֵעַ֔תָּה

Wilt thou not from this time cry

קָרָ֥אתי

 

לִ֖י

unto me My father

אָבִ֑י

thou art the guide

אַלּ֥וּף

of my youth

נְעֻרַ֖י

 

אָֽתָּה׃

Will he reserve

הֲיִנְטֹ֣ר

his anger for ever

לְעוֹלָ֔ם

הִנֵּ֥ה

Behold thou hast spoken

דִבַּ֛רְתְּ

and done

וַתַּעֲשִׂ֥י

evil things

הָרָע֖וֹת

as thou couldest

וַתּוּכָֽל׃

said

וַיֹּ֨אמֶר

The LORD

also unto me in the days

בִּימֵי֙

of Josiah

יֹאשִׁיָּ֣הוּ

the king

הַמֶּ֔לֶךְ

Hast thou seen

הֲֽרָאִ֔יתָ

 

אֲשֶׁ֥ר

hath done

עָשְׂתָ֖ה

that which backsliding

מְשֻׁבָ֣ה

Israel

יִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל

she is gone up

הֹלְכָ֨ה

 

הִ֜יא

 

עַל

 

כָּל

mountain

הַ֣ר

upon every high

גָּבֹ֗הַּ

 

וְאֶל

and under

תַּ֛חַת

עֵ֥ץ

every green

רַעֲנָ֖ן

and there hath played the harlot

וַתִּזְנִי

And I said

וָאֹמַ֗ר

מְשֻׁבָ֣ה

יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל

I had put her away

שִׁלַּחְתִּ֕יהָ

and given

וָאֶתֵּ֛ן

 

אֶת

her a bill

סֵ֥פֶר

of divorce

כְּרִיתֻתֶ֖יהָ

 

אֵלֶ֑יהָ

 

וְלֹ֨א

feared

יָֽרְאָ֜ה

yet her treacherous

בֹּֽגֵדָ֤ה

Judah

יְהוּדָה֙

sister

אֲחוֹתָ֔הּ

 

וַתֵּ֖לֶךְ

and played the harlot

וַתִּ֥זֶן

 

גַּם

 

הִֽיא׃

 

וְהָיָה֙

And it came to pass through the lightness

מִקֹּ֣ל

of her whoredom

זְנוּתָ֔הּ

that she defiled

וַתֶּחֱנַ֖ף

the land

הָאָ֑רֶץ

and committed adultery

וַתִּנְאַ֥ף

 

אֶת

with stones

הָאֶ֖בֶן

 

וְאֶת

and with stocks

הָעֵֽץ׃

בְּכָל

לֹא

hath not turned

שָׁ֨בָה

 

אֵלַ֜י

And yet for all this her treacherous

בָּגוֹדָ֧ה

אֲחוֹתָ֛הּ

יְהוּדָ֖ה

unto me with her whole heart

לִבָּ֑הּ

אִם

but feignedly

בְּשֶׁ֖קֶר

saith

נְאֻם

the LORD

יְהוָֽה׃

וַיֹּ֤אמֶר

And the LORD

אֵלַ֔י

hath justified

צִדְּקָ֥ה

herself

נַפְשָׁ֖הּ

unto me The backsliding

מְשֻׁבָ֣ה

Israel

יִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל

more than treacherous

מִבֹּגֵדָ֖ה

Judah

יְהוּדָֽה׃

Go

הָלֹ֡ךְ

and proclaim

וְקָֽרָאתָ֩

these words

הַדְּבָרִ֨ים

 

הָאֵ֜לֶּה

toward the north

צָפ֗וֹנָה

and say

וְ֠אָמַרְתָּ

שׁ֣וּבָה

thou backsliding

מְשֻׁבָ֤ה

Israel

יִשְׂרָאֵל֙

saith

נְאֻם

the LORD

יְהוָ֔ה

 

לֽוֹא

to fall

אַפִּ֥יל

and I will not cause mine anger

פָּנַ֖י

 

בָּכֶ֑ם

 

כִּֽי

upon you for I am merciful

חָסִ֤יד

 

אֲנִי֙

saith

נְאֻם

the LORD

יְהוָ֔ה

 

לֹ֥א

and I will not keep

אֶטּ֖וֹר

anger for ever

לְעוֹלָֽם׃

 

אַ֚ךְ

Only acknowledge

דְּעִ֣י

thine iniquity

עֲוֹנֵ֔ךְ

 

כִּ֛י

against the LORD

יְהוָֹֽה׃

thy God

אֱלֹהַ֖יִךְ

that thou hast transgressed

פָּשָׁ֑עַתְּ

and hast scattered

וַתְּפַזְּרִ֨י

 

אֶת

thy ways

דְּרָכַ֜יִךְ

to the strangers

לַזָּרִ֗ים

under every green

רַעֲנָ֔ן

my voice

וּבְקוֹלִ֥י

and ye have not obeyed

O backsliding

שׁוֹבָבִים֙

saith

נְאֻם

the LORD

יְהוָ֔ה

 

כִּ֥י

 

אָנֹכִ֖י

for I am married

בָּעַ֣לְתִּי

 

בָכֶ֑ם

unto you and I will take

וְלָקַחְתִּ֨י

 

אֶתְכֶ֜ם

you one

אֶחָ֣ד

of a city

מֵעִ֗יר

and two

וּשְׁנַ֙יִם֙

of a family

מִמִּשְׁפָּחָ֔ה

and I will bring

וְהֵבֵאתִ֥י

 

אֶתְכֶ֖ם

you to Zion

צִיּֽוֹן׃

And I will give

וְנָתַתִּ֥י

 

לָכֶ֛ם

which shall feed

וְרָע֥וּ

according to mine heart

כְּלִבִּ֑י

which shall feed

וְרָע֥וּ

 

אֶתְכֶ֖ם

you with knowledge

דֵּעָ֥ה

and understanding

וְהַשְׂכֵּֽיל׃

 

וְהָיָ֡ה

 

כִּ֣י

And it shall come to pass when ye be multiplied

תִרְבּוּ֩

and increased

וּפְרִיתֶ֨ם

in the land

בָּאָ֜רֶץ

in those days

בַּיָּמִ֤ים

 

הָהֵ֙מָּה֙

saith

נְאֻם

of the LORD

יְהוָ֔ה

 

לֹא

they shall say

יֹ֣אמְרוּ

אֲרוֹן֙

neither shall it come

to mind

it neither shall they visit

they shall call

יִקְרְא֤וּ

Jerusalem

לִירוּשָׁלִָ֑ם

כִּסֵּ֣א

shall be gathered

וְנִקְוּ֨וּ

 

אֵלֶ֧יהָ

and all the nations

הַגּוֹיִ֛ם

unto it to the name

Jerusalem

לִירוּשָׁלִָ֑ם

יֵלְכ֣וּ

 

ע֔וֹד

אֲשֶׁ֥ר

that I have given for an inheritance

הִנְחַ֖לְתִּי

unto your fathers

אֲבוֹתֵיכֶֽם׃

 

וְאָנֹכִ֣י

But I said

וָאֹמַ֗ר

 

אֵ֚יךְ

How shall I put

אֲשִׁיתֵ֣ךְ

thee among the children

בַּבָּנִ֔ים

and give

וְאֶתֶּן

 

לָךְ֙

land

אֶ֣רֶץ

thee a pleasant

חֶמְדָּ֔ה

heritage

נַחֲלַ֥ת

a goodly

צְבִ֖י

of the hosts

צִבְא֣וֹת

of nations

גּוֹיִ֑ם

But I said

וָאֹמַ֗ר

me My father

אָבִי֙

Thou shalt call

לִ֔י

Thou shalt call

לִ֔י

from me

וּמֵאַחֲרַ֖י

 

לֹ֥א

and shalt not turn away

תָשֽׁוּבִו׃

Surely

אָכֵ֛ן

so have ye dealt treacherously

בְּגַדְתֶּ֥ם

as a wife

אִשָּׁ֖ה

departeth from her husband

מֵרֵעָ֑הּ

 

כֵּ֣ן

so have ye dealt treacherously

בְּגַדְתֶּ֥ם

 

בִּ֛י

with me O house

בֵּ֥ית

of Israel

יִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל

saith

נְאֻם

the LORD

יְהוָֽה׃

A voice

ק֚וֹל

 

עַל

upon the high places

שְׁפָיִ֣ים

was heard

נִשְׁמָ֔ע

weeping

בְּכִ֥י

and supplications

תַחֲנוּנֵ֖י

of the children

בְּנֵ֣י

of Israel

יִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל

 

כִּ֤י

for they have perverted

הֶעֱוּוּ֙

 

אֶת

their way

דַּרְכָּ֔ם

and they have forgotten

שָׁכְח֖וּ

 

אֶת

the LORD

יְהוָֹ֥ה

their God

אֱלֹהֵיהֶֽם׃

Return

שׁ֚וּבוּ

children

בָּנִ֣ים

ye backsliding

שׁוֹבָבִ֔ים

and I will heal

אֶרְפָּ֖ה

your backslidings

מְשׁוּבֹֽתֵיכֶ֑ם

 

הִנְנוּ֙

Behold we come

אָתָ֣נוּ

 

לָ֔ךְ

 

כִּ֥י

 

אַתָּ֖ה

unto thee for thou art the LORD

יְהוָֹ֥ה

our God

אֱלֹהֵֽינוּ׃

Truly

אָכֵן֙

in vain

לַשֶּׁ֛קֶר

is salvation hoped for from the hills

מִגְּבָע֖וֹת

and from the multitude

הָמ֣וֹן

of mountains

הָרִ֑ים

Truly

אָכֵן֙

in the LORD

בַּיהוָֹ֣ה

our God

אֱלֹהֵ֔ינוּ

is the salvation

תְּשׁוּעַ֖ת

of Israel

יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃

For shame

וְהַבֹּ֗שֶׁת

hath devoured

אָֽכְלָ֛ה

 

אֶת

the labour

יְגִ֥יעַ

of our fathers

אֲבוֹתֵ֖ינוּ

from our youth

מִנְּעוּרֵ֑ינוּ

 

אֶת

their flocks

צֹאנָם֙

 

וְאֶת

and their herds

בְּקָרָ֔ם

 

אֶת

their sons

בְּנֵיהֶ֖ם

 

וְאֶת

and their daughters

בְּנוֹתֵיהֶֽם׃

We lie down

נִשְׁכְּבָ֣ה

in our shame

בְּבָשְׁתֵּ֗נוּ

covereth

וּֽתְכַסֵּנוּ֮

and our confusion

כְּלִמָּתֵנוּ֒

 

כִּי֩

against the LORD

יְהוָֹ֥ה

our God

אֱלֹהֵֽינוּ׃

us for we have sinned

חָטָ֗אנוּ

 

אֲנַ֙חְנוּ֙

we and our fathers

וַאֲבוֹתֵ֔ינוּ

from our youth

מִנְּעוּרֵ֖ינוּ

 

וְעַד

even unto this day

הַיּ֣וֹם

 

הַזֶּ֑ה

 

וְלֹ֣א

and have not obeyed

שָׁמַ֔עְנוּ

the voice

בְּק֖וֹל

against the LORD

יְהוָֹ֥ה
