What iniquity

עָ֔וֶל

in me that they are gone far

רָחֲק֖וּ

 

מֵעָלָ֑י

 

וַיֵּֽלְכ֛וּ

after

אַחֲרֵ֥י

vanity

הַהֶ֖בֶל

and are become vain

וַיֶּהְבָּֽלוּ׃

 

וְלֹ֣א

אָמְר֔וּ

וְנַחֲלָתִ֥י

אָֽמְרוּ֙

 

אַיֵּ֣ה

יְהוָ֔ה

וְתֹפְשֵׂ֤י

וְהָרֹעִ֖ים

also transgressed

פָּ֣שְׁעוּ

בַבַּ֔עַל

וְאַחֲרֵ֥י

 

לֹֽא

things that do not profit

יוֹעִ֖לוּ

הָלָֽכוּ׃

 

לָכֵ֗ן

Wherefore I will yet plead

אָרִֽיב׃

 

אִתְּכֶ֖ם

with you saith

נְאֻם

and with your children's

בְנֵיכֶ֖ם

For pass over

עִבְר֞וּ

the isles

כִתִּיִּים֙

and see

וּרְא֕וּ

unto Kedar

וְקֵדָ֛ר

and send

שִׁלְח֥וּ

and consider

וְהִֽתְבּוֹנְנ֖וּ

diligently

מְאֹ֑ד

and see

וּרְא֕וּ

 

הֵ֥ן

 

הָיְתָ֖ה

 

כָּזֹֽאת׃

have changed

הֵמִ֥יר

Hath a nation

גּוֹי֙

their gods

אֱלֹהִ֑ים

 

וְהֵ֖מָּה

 

לֹ֣א

their gods

אֱלֹהִ֑ים

but my people

וְעַמִּ֛י

have changed

הֵמִ֥יר

their glory

כְּבוֹד֖וֹ

 

בְּל֥וֹא

for that which doth not profit

יוֹעִֽיל׃

Be astonished

שֹׁ֥מּוּ

O ye heavens

שָׁמַ֖יִם

at this and be horribly afraid

וְשַׂעֲר֛וּ

חָרְב֥וּ

מֽוֹסְרוֹתַ֔יִךְ

and thou saidst

וַתֹּאמְרִ֖י

 

לֹ֣א

I will not transgress

אֶעֱב֑דֹ

גִּבְעָ֞ה

when upon every high

גְּבֹהָ֗ה

thee a noble vine

זֶ֣רַע

wholly a right

אֱמֶ֑ת

 

וְאֵיךְ֙

how then art thou turned

נֶהְפַּ֣כְתְּ

 

לִ֔י

into the degenerate plant

סוּרֵ֖י

הַגֶּ֥פֶן

of a strange

נָכְרִיָּֽה׃

 

כִּ֤י

 

אִם

For though thou wash

תְּכַבְּסִי֙

בַּנֶּ֔תֶר

and take thee much

לָ֖ךְ

בֹּרִ֑ית

yet thine iniquity

עֲוֹנֵךְ֙

How canst thou say

תֹּאמְרִ֞י

 

לֹ֣א

I am not polluted

נִטְמֵ֗אתִי

I have not gone

her ways

דְּרָכֶֽיהָ׃

in the valley

dromedary

בִּכְרָ֥ה

thou art a swift

קַלָּ֖ה

traversing

מְשָׂרֶ֥כֶת

דְּרָכֶֽיהָ׃

A wild ass

פֶּ֣רֶה׀

לִמֻּ֣ד

to the wilderness

מִדְבָּ֗ר

at her pleasure

בְּאַוַּ֤ת

 

נַפְשָׁוּ֙

that snuffeth up

שָׁאֲפָ֣ה

ר֔וּחַ

in her occasion

תַּאֲנָתָ֖הּ

 

מִ֣י

who can turn her away

יְשִׁיבֶ֑נָּה

 

כָּל

all they that seek

מְבַקְשֶׁ֙יהָ֙

יִיעָ֔פוּ

יִמְצָאֽוּנְהָ׃

Withhold

מִיָּחֵ֔ף

and thy throat

וּגְורֹנֵ֖ךְ

from thirst

מִצִּמְאָ֑ה

but thou saidst

וַתֹּאמְרִ֣י

There is no hope

נוֹאָ֔שׁ

Saying

יֹֽאמְר֔וּ

to a stock

לָעֵ֜ץ

Thou art my father

אָ֣בִי

 

אַ֗תָּה

and to a stone

וְלָאֶ֙בֶן֙

 

אַ֣תְּ

Thou hast brought me forth

יְלִדְתָּ֔ניּ

 

כִּֽי

for they have turned

פָנ֥וּ

 

אֵלַ֛י

their back

עֹ֖רֶף

 

וְלֹ֣א

unto me and not their face

פָנִ֑ים

but in the time

וּבְעֵ֤ת

of their trouble

רָֽעָתָם֙

יֹֽאמְר֔וּ

Arise

ק֖וּמָה

and save

וְהוֹשִׁיעֵֽנוּ׃

 

וְאַיֵּ֤ה

But where are thy gods

אֱלֹהֶ֖יךָ

 

אֲשֶׁ֣ר

that thou hast made

עָשִׂ֣יתָ

 

לָּ֔ךְ

thee let them arise

יָק֕וּמוּ

 

אִם

if they can save

יוֹשִׁיע֖וּךָ

thee in the time

בְּעֵ֣ת

of thy trouble

רָעָתֶ֑ךָ

הָי֥וּ

וְעַמִּ֣י

forget

שְׁכֵח֔וּנִי

תֵּיטִ֥בִי

דְּרָכָֽיִךְ׃

הָרָע֔וֹת

therefore hast thou also taught

לִמַּ֖דְתְּי

I have not found

מְצָאתִ֖ים

the blood

Yet thou sayest
